The Fan Empire May 2017

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 pieces of fandom merchandise.  Items can be anything from posters to t-shirts and are based around a different theme each month.  Previous fandoms include The Hunger Games and Harry Potter.  Boxes start at $14.95 a month but do go down a little with a longer plan.  Shipping to Canada was $5.50.  I am always wary of the fandom boxes because if you get a month that is not one of yours then it can feel like a waste.  Let’s see how we get on with this one.

20170524_133746

I was very surprised when this package showed up.  I had given up on ever getting any more from this company as my messages went unanswered and I haven’t received anything in months.

20170524_133821

They do include an info card that tells you about where the items come from and what their values are.  It also tells you the theme, “Tale As Old As Time”.

Beauty and The Beast Coin Purse-$8.00

This is a small coin purse with a snap closure.  It is made from thicker vinyl and has the same image, just reversed, on each side.  It is nice and if you are a fan of the movie it would be a great memento.

20170524_134106

Adjustable Enchanted Rose Ring-$6.00

This is quite cute.  I don’t get why they would have put the little white rocks in there as well as the rose but maybe I’m missing something having not seen this incarnation of the movie.  It is huge and decidedly not practical for everyday wear but would make a nice addition to a costume.

20170524_134021

Chip Laser Cut Earrings Set-$10.00

How cute are these?  Chip is an underrated addition to the movie.  These are small enough to wear every day and will garner comments I’m sure.

Beauty And The Beat Double-sided Bookmark-$5.00

One can never have enough bookmarks.  I always have a stack of them handy.  This will get tons of use and it’s pretty too.

20170524_133814

Beauty And The Beast Custom Postcard-$5.00

I always hate to include this in the value as it’s really the back of the info card.  I guess you could frame it if you were inclined but it is usually a little bent or damaged by the time it arrives.

Once again this one came really, really late.  She says she lets everyone on social media know and occasionally sends an email to subscribers to let them know the same thing.  I just expect them to be super late into the next month.  The value this month is $34.00.  There were a few things I really enjoyed this time.  I have no idea what will show up in this bag and the themes never match what the website says so I’ll wait and see.

The Fan Empire January 2017

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 pieces of fandom merchandise.  Items can be anything from posters to t-shirts and are based around a different theme each month.  Previous fandoms include The Hunger Games and Harry Potter.  Boxes start at $14.95 a month but do go down a little with a longer plan.  Shipping to Canada was $5.50.  I am always wary of the fandom boxes because if you get a month that is not one of yours then it can feel like a waste.  Let’s see how we get on with this one.

I’ll be perfectly honest, I have no idea what month this actually is.  I haven’t received a bag since October and despite emailing them and trying to figure out what is going on I have no answers.  That being said the bag this month is super fun.  There is an info card that tells you the theme, “Magical Creatures”, and what items they included plus prices.

20170113_140821

Dobby Watercolor Magnet-$3.00

I think it’s great that I get a magnet almost every month with this subscription.  They are fun and make my fridge just a little bit more mine instead of the kids.

20170113_140919Fantastic Beasts Logo Necklace-$12.00

I am ashamed to say I still haven’t seen this movie!  I like the logo but it doesn’t seem to match the chain it’s on.  Itis quite light and I think if I change the chain out I will wear it.

20170113_140946Dobby is Free Pillowcase 45cmx45cm-$16.00

I still need to get a few pillow forms but I am getting a great collection of nerdy pillows.  My hubby thinks it’s slightly odd but he knows that I am slightly odd and just goes with it. This material almost looks like burlap but it’s very soft and shiny.

20170113_140809Give Dobby a Sock! Hogwarts Crest Socks-$8.00

There is a labelling issue with these.  The tag says they are knee high socks and they are ankle socks.  I don’t really care, I love them anyways.  They will be perfect for work.  I am luck to have a boss that is okay with me being slightly off kilter.

20170113_140853Dragon Scale Adjustable Ring-$7.00

I think this is very cool.  However the tiny bit if glue that was holding the scales onto the ring has let go, so I will need to reglue it.  That is very minor and after that, I will just need an excuse to wear this out.

20170113_140754Harry Potter & Hedwig Print-$5.00

I have a hard time including this as a value in the box.  This is actually the front of the info card.  They claim it as an item each month, and while they are great images I don’t think you should actual give it a value as part of the box.

Once again this one came really, really late.  She says she lets everyone on social media know and occasionally sends an email to subscribers to let them know the same thing.  I just expect them to be super late into the next month.  The value this month is $51.00.  There were a few things I really enjoyed this time.  I have no idea what will show up in this bag and the themes never match what the website says so I’ll wait and see.

The Fan Empire October 2016

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 pieces of fandom merchandise.  Items can be anything from posters to t-shirts and are based around a different theme each month.  Previous fandoms include The Hunger Games and Harry Potter.  Boxes start at $14.95 a month but do go down a little with a longer plan.  Shipping to Canada was $5.50.  I am always wary of the fandom boxes because if you get a month that is not one of yours then it can feel like a waste.  Let’s see how we get on with this one.

20161119_174941

The bubble mailer is such a fun colour.  They add a sticker logo to let you know who sent you something fun

20161119_175001 20161119_175008

They do include an info card, which they also consider a print so therefore it’s included on the item list.  This is a Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Symbol Postcard, valued at $5.00.  The theme this month is “Fandom Symbols”.

20161119_175041

Gold Plated Lightening Bolt Necklace-$22.00

I love this!  It is delicate and while die-hard fans will know what it’s about, you can get away with showing your HP love without everyone knowing.  This came from and Etsy shop.

20161119_175202

Multi-Fandom Charm Bracelet-$20.00

So this covers pretty much every fandom there is.  I can’t even name all of them but there is Doctor Who, Sherlock, Game Of Thrones, Harry Potter, and eight more.  It is quite heavy and very jingly on my wrist.  This would definitely not be an every day wear but once in a while it’ll be good.  This is also from Etsy.

20161119_175116

Gold Multi-Fandom Keychain-$6.00

So once again my fandom knowledge fails me and I can’t identify all the symbols.  There is the Hunger Games, Harry Potter and two more that I don’t know.  It’s a bit bendy of metal to stand up to much use but it should be okay for a little while. This is off of Etsy too.

20161119_175237

The Four Elements 14×14″ Pillow Case-$18.00

So this is totally awesome!!!!!  It has a zipper on the bottom so you can stuff a pillow form into it and make your house way cooler than it had been seconds before.  I need to get me some forms because this is the second case I’ve received and I need them out and in my life.  You can find this at Redbubble.

Once again this one came really, really late.  She says she lets everyone on social media know and occasionally sends an email to subscribers to let them know the same thing.  I just expect them to be super late into the next month.  There were a few things I really enjoyed this time and then the keychain is just not for me.  I have no idea what will show up in this bag and the themes never match what the website says so I’ll wait and see.

The Fan Empire September 2016

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 pieces of fandom merchandise.  Items can be anything from posters to t-shirts and are based around a different theme each month.  Previous fandoms include The Hunger Games and Harry Potter.  Boxes start at $14.95 a month but do go down a little with a longer plan.  Shipping to Canada was $5.50.  I am always wary of the fandom boxes because if you get a month that is not one of yours then it can feel like a waste.  Let’s see how we get on with this one.

20161007_131858 20161007_131903

They have a very cute info card this month.  The back has a list of all of the included items and tells you the theme as well. “Triple Threat: Potter, Percy, Pan”  They also include this as an item….Peter Pan Postcard.

20161007_131928

Harry Potter Tote Bag

This bag is awesome!!!  It is metallic and quilted and bright blue.  I’m just odd enough to use it, so I love it.  The sentiment is kinda the truth anyways…..

20161007_131850

HP Movie Trading Card Pack

This pack contains 6 cards.  It seems like it might be a British pack as the pricing listed on the back is in Pounds.  It’s neat and not something I have any of.

20161007_132106

Harry Potter Adjustable Gold Ring

How cute is this thing??!!  I love it and think it looks fabulous on my finger.  I’m not sure if people would even notice it’s HP but it’s one of my favourite pieces of jewelry to come out of these boxes ever.

20161007_132009 20161007_132016

Harry Potter Watercolor Postcard

I’m not sure how you can call this a postcard since they have used the back to thank their subscribers for getting them to a birthday.  It is a nice print though and will add to my growing fandom wall of art.

20161007_132034

Percy Jackson Camp Half-Blood Button

I have never seen or read any of the Percy Jackson stuff so this means nothing to me.  I also don’t care for buttons, so this one will just do to the donation box.

20161007_132225

Percy Jackson Book Locket Necklace

For some reason I received two of these in my bag.  I just wish it wasn’t for Percy since I think it’s lovely and something I would wear.  Maybe I will anyways.

20161007_132139

Peter Pan Metal Bookmark

One can never have too many bookmarks and this is a beautiful one.  It has Tink and Big Ben and reminds you to think happy thoughts.  It’s very nice and I will put it to use right away.

20161007_132042

Tinker Bell Candy-Pixie Dust

Watermelon popping candy??? Yes please!  I’m  more excited about this than I should be probably but I’ve never seen watermelon flavoured ones before.

I’m very happy with this months bag.  I am a Potterhead so this is all stuff I like and am glad to get. The only letdown is the Percy button but there is no image that would make me like a button.  They were quite late again but she had sent an email saying that would happen, so I was aware.  October’s box is supposed to be on time and the theme is Spellbinding & Spooky.

The Fan Empire August 2016

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 peices of fandom merchandise.

20160915_180817

Everything arrived in a bubble mailer with a sticker on the front.

20160915_180904 20160915_180857

The info card gave a pretty clear picture of the theme this month, “I Solemnly Swear”.  It’s Harry Potter themed, which I love so this should be a good month.

20160915_180956

Marauders Map Pillow Case

This is cool.  You just add a 16 inch pillow form and you have a great addition to your house.  I don’t think any of my current pillows will fit but forms are pretty cheap so getting one will be easy.

20160915_181032

I Solemnly Swear Pocket Mirror

The back of this is a small mirror.  I didn’t know what it was when I was taking photos so that’s why I didn’t get one of the back.  I thought it was a magnet, right up until it didn’t stick to my fridge.

20160915_181108

Message In A Bottle Necklace

This necklace has a leather tie and in the bottle is a tiny Marauders map.  I’m not sure I’ll wear it but it’ll look good hanging off one of my HP pictures.

20160915_181131 20160915_181136

Marauders Map Key-Chain

I am getting quite the collection of key-chains.  This one is metal and on the back it has the phrase that makes the map work.

20160915_180916 20160915_180922

The Marauder Boys Bookmark

One can never have too many bookmarks. I always have more than one book on the go so I need plenty of them.

I’m very happy with this months bag.  I am a Potterhead so this is all stuff I like and am glad to get.  There was no issue with the card this month, and they were quite late but she had sent an email saying that would happen.  September’s theme is going to be Fandom Symbols.

The Fan Empire July 2016

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 peices of fandom merchandise.

20160729_135128

This one ships in a bubble mailer with a logo sticker to give you a clue as to what you’ve found in your mailbox.

20160729_135145 20160729_135204

They include an info card, however they classify it as an item due to the fact that there is a print on the front.  I’m thinking there was an issue with their printers this month as the back, which lists the items also has some overlay of mortgage broker business cards and other advertising, making it very hard to read and a severe lack of quality control upon packing.  I can tell that the theme this month is “In A Land Far, Far Away”.  It seems to be a mix of Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter.

20160729_135427

Hogwarts House Crest Wallet-$18.88

This is a bi-fold wallet with room for cards, coins, and cash.  It features the four houses on the front and Platform 9-3/4 on the back.  As a woman this is no where near large enough for all the crap I carry around but I like it!

20160729_135518

Hogwarts At Night Painting Poster

This is a nice poster but because it gets shipped in a bag it’s a little bent and crushed.  It is 8×10″ and gives a good look at the wonder that is Hogwarts.

20160729_135234

Wonderland Charm Leather Necklace

This necklace has a leather thong for the chain and a white rabbit charm, a leather trael tag, and an Alice and clock and Ace of clubs charm.  It’s not really something I would wear but I like it and it’s different.

20160729_135338

Alice and White Rabbit Metal Bookmark

Now this I love!  It is a delicate worked metal bookmark with a ribbon to keep your place.  I know it’s hard to see in the picture but there is some very detailed work on the metal and the features of both Alice and the rabbit are etched in.

20160729_135311

Hogwarts Travel Magnet

I love HP so more stuff from there is just fine by me.  I have to keep my “good” magnets high on the fridge or little fingers make them disappear and I don’t know where they go.

20160729_135320

Hogwarts Express Keychain

This has not only the platform 9-3/4 charm but a locomotive, a jumping frog, a bonbon, and a pumpkin. I am getting quite a collection of keychains from my geek boxes and I am going to need more keys to use them all.

This was my second box (bag?) from The Fan Empire and I am happy with it.  It helps that half of it is one of my Fandoms.  I didn’t do a value for this box but feel that it covered the box cost for sure, at least to me.  I am not sure if the print is always just the info card or not but that would be my one complaint.

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 peices of fandom merchandise.

20160627_164737

They show on their site that they have a branded box but I ended up with a purple bubble mailer.  Doesn’t matter much as long as everything arrives.

20160627_164804

Everything I found inside.  I knew it was going to be Harry Potter themed because they had sent out an email asking for my house preference.  I am a Gryffindor!  The card you see is also included as an item in the box.  It is listed as a Splatter Paint Hogwarts Print.  I don’t know that you should consider your info card as anything, even though I think the artwork is great.  As you can see mine is quite bent up from shipping so it would be noticable even framed.

20160627_164812

As you can see from the card the theme this month is Hogwarts House Pride.  This card also lets me know what I received and just a little about each of those things.

20160627_164903

Hogwarts Tie Replica

I very rarely wear ties anymore but kinda wish I did so I could toss this on. It is well made and long enough to be worn by an adult, and still reach a proper length.  Great start to the box.

20160627_164925

House Coloured Beanie

This also makes me happy.  I know from the tag it looks like licensed merchandise but once you open that tag you realise it’s  all in Chinese.  No part of that matters to me in the least.  This hat is just big enough to fit me so anyone with a large head might be out of luck.

20160630_210503

Charm Key-chain

This is a very cute keyring.  It has the house colours, a lion, a book, a G, and a scarf as charms.  I really like it and will have to take one of my larger rings off my keys to make a place for this.

20160630_210411 20160630_210420

Hogwarts Crest Ring

This is an adjustable ring featuring all four house animals and the H in the center.  It has filagree sides and a glass bubble looking top.

20160630_210352

Hogwarts Crest Magnet

I also like this magnet.  It has all four house colours and the main Hogwarts crest in the center.  It is slightly bent from shipping but that will go back to normal as it sticks to my fridge for a while.

This was my first box (bag?) from The Fan Empire and I am happy with it.  It helps that it is one of my Fandoms and that I got to pick the house so all the items are ones I would want.  I didn’t do a value for this box but feel that it covered the box cost for sure, at least to me.  I am not sure if the print is always just the info card or not but that would be my one complaint.  Next month’s theme is “I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To NO Good!” so it looks like we will be going back to Hogwarts!
