Rag Tag Box April 2016

Rag Tag Box is a monthly craft and ephemera box.  They include all sorts of things and a cross stitch project each month based on a theme that could be fun, scary, sci-fi, or movie related.  They offer a few different options including paper crafts, stitchy mini, or full size and prices start at  $15.00.  They also have a shop online where you can buy projects or downloadable projects.  I went for the full sized box.  The theme for April is Badass Unicorns.   I received an email from them saying that they will be discontinuing the full size box but you can still get the Stitchy Box or a digital download of a pattern each month.  That makes me a bit sad because I have found this box to be fun but at least the site is not closing totally.

20160414_194729

The standard pizza box was delivered this month and contained such bright yellow paper!

20160414_194740

Inside of that was the great collection of stuff I was waiting for.  I love opening this box.

20160414_194758

They included a code for 15% any purchase in their shop and a bookmark that gives you some shop details on the back.

20160414_194823

So these might just be the best stickers ever!   The show a unicorn looking pretty badass doing a variety of things.  At least one of these is going to go to my co-worker because it’s just so her.  Did I mention how sad I was that this box was going away????

20160414_194847

You can’t go wrong with a roll of washi. This one ig lime green and while you can’t really see it in the picture has chevrons on it.  I don’t have a washi obsession but I do have one bag full of rolls that covers me in pretty much any situation I would need it for.

20160414_194909 20160414_194931

The next treasure out was a colouring book and 2 multi-colour pencil crayons.  The images in the book are the same as the stickers, just blank.  I only have a few adult colouring books so I’m happy to add to my stash.  Maybe I could take these to work and when it’s slow make masterpieces??  I have received one of these pencils before from them but since this is the last month for this type of box I can’t blame them for using up stuff they might have had on hand.

20160414_195014 20160414_195030

There is a bunch of assorted  things in here too.  Paperclip book mark, little bag, gift tag, pencil that says Be Fabulous, jumbo paper straw, and a length of craft twine.

20160414_195045

This blank card is beautiful.  One can never really have too many blank cards.  So useful to have around.

20160414_195110

As we keep digging into the box we find another paperclip bookmark, a large paper bag, a polka dot snack cup, and a paper doily.

20160414_195130

These two pieces of cardstock are printed on both sides.  Not sure what I’ll put them to use in but I know they will come in handy someday.

20160414_195140

The last bit of stuff before the kit is a sheet of stickers to celebrate birthdays and a small toothpick flag.

20160414_195156 20160414_195204

So here is the whole reason I get this box.  Can I just say that with this being my last box from them as well I couldn’t have gone out on a better choice.  They give you everything you need to do this up minus scissors and skill.  Thankfully I have both of those so no problems there!  I’ve managed to finish a few of the other ones I’ve received and I can tell you there is plenty of thread to finish them.  This is one of the larger ones they’ve sent out and I can’t wait to hang this up.

There is no way I could value this box but I do love it!  I had been looking for something crafty for myself since Embellished Boxes seem to have imploded and this is it.  If you are thinking this may be something you’d like next month’s theme is Alien Antics.  You can still get the kits sent to you it’s just the other fun stuff in the box that is no longer offered. Rag Tag Box March 2016

The theme for March is Totally 80’s.  Earlier this month I received an email from them saying that they will be discontinuing the full size box but you can still get the Stitchy Box or a digital download of a pattern each month.  That makes me a bit sad because I have found this box to be fun but at least the site is not closing totally.

20160315_144958

The first look gave nothing away but a code for 15% off any purchase from the site.  I’m not sure if this applies to subscriptions but it might!

20160315_145024

Peeling back the paper revealed my goodies plus an assortment of confetti and glitter.

20160315_145040

First up was a Mead Memo pad.  I love notepads and this is an awesome one that totally reminds me of growing up. My Dad always had one in his pocket and the glove box of every vehicle we owned had one too!

20160315_145051

Next we have two beaded bracelets that appear to be handmade.  They are just strung on a wire and you have to unbend one end of it to open and close then.  The girls were super interested in these but because of that wire being a bit pokey I don’t think I’ll give them to them.  They are bright and loud though so very much fit the theme.

20160315_145104

They usually do include a bookmark in this box but this is the first time they have had them where I need to colour them myself.  This is a pack of four and all are 80’s images.

20160315_145124

Some rad pencils were in there and an eraser!  You can never really have enough of these things and I haven’t had an eraser like this in forever.

20160315_145140

Two mini clothespin clips were hiding amongst the paper.  These will go straight onto my bog calendar to hold reminders and papers.

20160315_145223

Two sheets of stickers were included.  The dialog box ones are cool and I think they will make good address labels for envelopes.  The dots are about 1-1/2″ and will join my sticker pile.

20160315_145246

The assorted other goodies included a paper doily, a price tag, and two vinyl coated large paperclips.

20160315_145407

There are two blank notecards with more of the designs familiar to the 80’s.

20160315_145425

Finally the cross-stitch kit.  This is a larger one than any of the previous ones have been.  It has a cassette and Pac-Man with the Totally 80’s words in the center.  It should be fun and I like that they are simple to get finished without looking like a child’s kit.

There is no way I could value this box but I do love it!  I had been looking for something crafty for myself since Embellished Boxes seem to have imploded and this is it.  If you are thinking this may be something you’d like next month’s theme is Badass Unicorns! I cannot wait!! You can visit their site by clicking here.

Rag Tag Box February 2016

Rag Tag Box is a monthly craft and ephemera box.  They include all sorts of things and a cross stitch project each month based on a theme that could be fun, scary, sci-fi, or movie related.  They offer a few different options including paper crafts, stitchy mini, or full size and prices start at  $15.00.  They also have a shop online where you can buy projects or downloadable projects.  I went for the full sized box.  The theme for February is Sugar Skulls.

20160212_092706

The box that this one comes in is like a small pizza box.  It is all wrapped up with tissue inside and the info card is taped on the top.  It gives you a basic breakdown of all the fun things you will find inside.

20160212_092726 20160212_092803

First out of the bac was a large striped envelope.  Inside that was a collection of goodies.  There are two paper straws, a purple gel pen, a flag clip, which is that squarish thing above the pen, a mini eraser, a mini notebook, and two sticker sheets with various circle stickers on them.

20160212_092833 20160212_092840

Next up is a nail file.  Both the skull and the black side are files and it’s about half an inch think.

20160212_092912

This photo shows some of the paper products included.  There is a bookmark, 2 mini notecards with envelopes, and a code to get a discount off your purchase on their site.

20160212_092936

Near the bottom of the box is 5′ of twine, a paper doily, 2 colouring pages, and a clothes pin.

20160212_092953 20160212_093006

The last item is the cross-stitch kit for this month.  It is a Sugar Skull and as you can see it includes everything you need to do it except scissors to cut your threads.  I am almost done my Death Star from the other month and they work up nicely.  The kit was the main reason I wanted the box and I have been happy with them so far.  They are never very big or difficult and sometimes you just want a simple project that takes a few hours or fits in your bag.

There is no way I could value this box but I am pretty sure I’m going to love it!  I had been looking for something crafty for myself since Embellished Boxes seem to have imploded and this is it.  If you are thinking this may be something you’d like next month’s theme is Totally 80’s. Rag Tag Box January 2016

The theme for December was Comics.

20160112_155416 20160112_155428

Opening up my pizza box revealed a return to the product card and then under the paper a whole bunch of loot!  That first look made the theme perfectly clear, just incase you might have been uncertain of what comics would entail.

20160112_155543

First up this month we have a couple of paper straws and a gel pen.  I am so fascinated by paper straws! I have received a few now and won’t let anyone use them.

20160112_155737

In the little ephemera inclusions we have 5′ of blue and white twine, 2 paper clips, a Wonder Woman fabric pin, and 2 pom poms. Most of these were tucked into the green bag.

20160112_155530

Always useful, Marvel Avengers tissue pack and 6 comic word stickers.

20160112_155552

This is a pack of playing cards.  I don’t think anyone needs more playing cards, I’m sure mine multiply in the games cupboard but these ones are cute and maybe need to live in my bag for those moments of boredom that appear out of nowhere and catch me without a book.

20160112_155610

There was a mini green highlighter, which I love, and a roll of washi tape.

20160112_155629

There were three mini note cards and that orange square behind is an envelope. They are all blank inside.

20160112_155654

In the box we continued to find three To Do lists, a paper doily, and a sheet of sticker dots.

20160112_155719

The little card calls these small sheets of craft paper.  They do qualify as that but I really want to find another use for them.  All of mine were Spiderman but I am not sure if that is constant for everyone.

20160112_155436 20160112_155445

Last and certainly not least is the cross-stitch kit that was, for me, the reason I got the box.  This month is another smaller one, which is good since I might get them done if they only take me a few hours each.  As always, they include everything but scissors.  This one is very fun and I like it!

There is no way I could value this box but I am pretty sure I’m going to love it!  I had been looking for something crafty for myself since Embellished Boxes seem to have imploded and this is it.  If you are thinking this may be something you’d like next month’s theme is Sugar Skulls. Rag Tag Box December 2015

The theme for December was Star Wars.

20151226_154250

I didn’t take a picture of the box this month but it was still a pizza box filled with treasures.  The cross-stitch kit this month is the Deathstar.  Let me tell you a little secret…..I don’t like Star Wars……I do realise this puts me in a very small minority and the overwhelming amount of propaganda surrounding the new movie this month has been driving me insane.  That being said this is a pretty cool kit anyways.  Once again everything is included, floss, aida cloth, needle and hoop.  This month there is also a bit of ribbon to hang your finished project as well.

20151226_154326

That colourful paper is a bookmark/advertisement for the company.  There is also an eraser of the new robot from the movie, 2 tree design paper straws, a pencil with the original people on it, and another pencil that says Happy Holidays.

20151226_154340

One giant candy cane whose wrapper has characters wearing Santa hats.  I didn’t realise Star Wars had a Christmas special…..

20151226_154403

A black craft bag and a page of stickers with the new movie characters.

20151226_154416

R2-D2 note book.  I love me some stationery and lined notebooks are way up there in the list of favourite things.  I don’t even care that the $1.00 price is still on the back of it.

20151226_154425

This is a holiday card.  The inside is blank so you can fill it in in whatever way works for you.  Very seasonal touch.

20151226_154435

There was a cute penguin gift tag and a black doily.

20151226_154455

Inside of a little brown bag was 2 large paper clips, a scalloped green tag, a mason jar tag, and actually 3 stickers.  I didn’t notice one was stuck to the back of the other so there is a Yoda too.

20151226_154522

Last thing I found in there were 2 bottle cap magnets.  I think these are cute.

There is no way I could value this box but I am pretty sure I’m going to love it!  I had been looking for something crafty for myself since Embellished Boxes seem to have imploded and this is it.  If you are thinking this may be something you’d like next month’s theme is Comics. Rag Tag Box November 2015

The theme for November was Killer Carni Clowns.

20151112_165554

Everything was shipped in a pizza box and opening it up revealed a list of items and some tissue paper.

20151112_165613 20151112_165619

The cross stitch kit, all of which are designed by them, includes everything you need minus scissors.  They even give you the hoop!  As you can see it’s an angry clown surrounded by bloody cleavers.  Maybe not the best for the kids rooms but I think at work this might send the correct hint.  I’m so thrilled to get just this that the rest of the box is a bonus at this point.

20151112_165627

Next out was a clown can koozie.  I can’t even think of the last time I used one of these but since Xmas is coming maybe my brother needs this.  It is fun.

20151112_165637

No clown box would be complete without a red clown nose.  The girls will get a kick out of playing with this.

20151112_165645 20151112_165658

We also have a killer clown colouring book.  I just opened it to a random page to give you an idea of what’s inside.  It has five pictures to colour and since I just bought myself a new set of pencil crayons I’m good to go.

20151112_165717

That is one scary clown face on this popcorn bag.  Not too sure what to do with this but I like it.

20151112_165746

They also sent out two sheets of stickers.  Stickers are always a good thing in our house.

20151112_165758

So creepy!!! This is just a hard paper decoration.  Once the girls are a bit older and not terrified I’ll use this for Halloween decorating.

20151112_165821

This mixed up bunch includes another popcorn bag, non scary this time, two paper straws, a red gel pen, a multi coloured pencil crayon, 6′ of twine, and a carnival flag on a stick.

20151112_165854

Another group of items included a bloody side show ticket decoration, one black balloon, a blood splatter balloon, and six tickets.

20151112_165936

Lastly there was a killer clown necklace.  I don’t know where to wear this but he’s more cute than scary.  He has a little hatchet charm attached too.  He’s made of wood with the image laminated on top.

There is no way I could value this box but I am pretty sure I’m going to love it!  I had been looking for something crafty for myself since Embellished Boxes seem to have imploded and this is it.  If you are thinking this may be something you’d like next month’s theme is Star Wars.
