Little Life Box January 2016

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20160113_204234

I was a bit surprised at how light the box was this month.  I picked it up and thought that maybe it had been opened and stuff fell out.  I could see that it was still packed to the top but I guess everything was light in there.  I do miss the post card they used to send.  Now the card just tells you to share your box online.

20160113_204249

This was my first look at what was under the paper.

20160113_204258

Deep River Snacks Original Salted Kettle Cooked Potato Chips-28g $0.49

I love chips and rarely get to snack on them anymore.  These ones are gluten free and kosher.  They use non-GMO ingredients and have no preservatives, trans fat, MSG, or cholesterol.  They also support various charities based on which flavour you buy.

20160113_204312

Elan Banana Chips-135g $2.99

This is the third different item from this brand I’ve received and all have been very good.  These are organic and GMO and gluten free.  I don’t eat banana chips all that often but now that they are in the house I will grab a handful when I need a snack or something crunchy.

20160113_204322

Feast Bar-40g

This is a chocolate bar with fruit and nuts.  It also magically is high in fibre and low sodium.  It has no trans fats or cholestreol and no processed sugars.  The whole bar is actually under 200 calories as well which is a bit of a surprise.  I love fruit and nut bars and so I am hiding this until I can find some alone time to scarf it down.

20160113_204340

Neolia Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Lotion-10mL $0.15 x 3

I am very happy that they included shampoo and conditioner.  I don’t even care that the samples are packets, being able to try both at once is just so much better then only getting the shampoo.  They all are made from olive oil and are organic.

20160113_204352

BioCell Collagen Capsules-2pk $0.67 x 2

These are joint and skin health pills that help you to maintain healthy skin.  They also help with osteoarthritis pain.  I don’t have that yet but a little added collagen in my joints will not be a bad thing.

20160113_204531

Wild Hibiscus Flower Co. Tea-$0.35 x 2

I received Heart-tee and Blue-tee and they seem interesting.  The blue one has instructions on how to have it including how to make it change colour for you. They are herbal teas made with hibiscus and butterfly pea flower.  I love a good cup of tea and have at least one a day so I’m never sad to see more in a box.

20160113_204542

Three Farmers Roasted Chickpeas-25g $1.04

These are BBQ flavour and while I do eat chickpeas normally I have found that these roasted ones are delicious.  I have not have the BBQ flavour but I expect them to be a great snack to get me through a day when I want chips or something else crunchy.  These are nut and gluten free and higher in protein and fibre.

20160113_204551

Montagne Jeunesse Anti Stress Sauna Masque-15g $1.99

This face mask is self heating to open and cleanse your pores.  It has red clay and plant extracts.  It is also vegetarian approved, though I’m not too sure what that means.  I’ll add it to my pile of masks and use it up when it becomes it’s turn.

20160113_204558

Organic India Tulsi Tea-18 bags $14.03

Yay! More tea!  I don’t think I’ve ever had holy basil tea before but peppermint tea is a favourite.  This tea is organic and like almost all herbal teas, caffeine free. This brand is sustainably farmed by small farmers, which is always nice to see.

20160113_204607 20160113_204629

Radius Floss Sachets-20pk $2.99 x 2

The ones I got were the organic silk variety but the pamphlet also shows mint and cranberry ones too.  These are made of spun candelilla plant wax.  I have no clue……  They are free from sweeteners, preservatives, artificial colours and flavours, synthetic wax, gluten, yeast, parabens, phthalates, BPA, GMO and additives.  To make them even more hippy the box is recycled cardboard and paper and totally recyclable and biodegradable.

20160113_204616

Viva Bath-2g

This bath powder helps to return your bathwater to a neutral ph so that you don’t absorb the chemicals added to your tap water that make it safe for consumption but harsh on your skin.  It also is supposed to help reduce stress and skin conditions.  I’ll add it to my bath next time but since it says you should not use any other soaps or cleansers while you are using it that sorta defeats the purpose of a bath.

This month’s  box had 16 samples in it.  The site is back up to normal with pricing or links to where to buy items so I was able to work out that the value is $29.01, which a bit low but not too horrible. I like this box and have found a bunch of things I would never have bought that either work really well or taste good.  I tended to dismiss most products like this out of hand as not good or too tree huggerish so I’m pleasantly surprised with the items.  I think this will be my last box from them and while I’m not going to renew this subscription I did enjoy it and was really surprised how many of the items I used and liked.

Little Life Box December 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20151208_210915 20151208_210927

A very festive looking inside to the box and there was also a card that listed a few of the items that can be found inside.

20151208_210954

Once I opened the paper this is the pile of stuff I found.  Looks good!

20151208_211006

Naked Teas Organic Morning Cheers Hangover Tea-10g $1.37

I’m not sure which of the ingredients is so helpful that it makes your hangover go away but since I haven’t been drunk in years I’m hoping that this tastes good just to drink.

20151208_211018 20151208_211203

Almased Dietary Supplement-25g $1.67 x 2

These are a supplement that you can add to any cold liquid and drink.  It says it will increase metabolism and energy and help blood sugar and thyroid stay at healthy levels.  I’ll toss these in a smoothie and see how it goes.  I care more about taste then function honestly.

20151208_211029

Feast Nutty Cranberry Bar

This bar is so soft!  It is gluten, lactose, and cholesterol free.  It is full of seeds and nuts and has an assortment of dried fruit mixed in as well.   This is going to be a work snack I think.

20151208_211039 20151208_211152

Ohso Probiotic Chocolates in Chocolate and Orange-98g $9.99 x 2

Okay so this has to count as a treat and not a supplement since each piece has 70 calories in it, however because it’s good for you you can still eat one peice a day and not be too concerned.  They are both gluten and nut free and have 1 billion probiotics per bar.  Each package has seven bars in it and it’s Belgian chocolate to top it off so I’ll enjoy each one.

20151208_211051

Say Yes To No… Sour Cream & Onion Toasted Bread Chips-75g $2.99

I’m all for crispy flavoured things that make me think I’m eating what I want instead of it being something healthy and boring but it’s hard for me to stop at half a bag of something, which is what I’d need to do to not consume way too many calories eating these.  I do like sour cream & onion flavour though so I’m going to try to make this work for me.

20151208_211100

Rock Your Skin Cacao Buddy Scrub-$18.99

This is an all natural scrub made with cacoa, honey, and olive oil plus sugar, rice and maple syrup.  It exfoliates and moisturizes and they say it smells great but I don’t want to open it up yet so I’ll trust them on that.

20151208_211112

Urban Spa The Tough Nut Facial Buffer-$3.00

I think this is the third Uran Spa item I’ve received from them but they all have been good and I’ve liked them so keep ’em coming LLB.  This is made from ground walnut shells and will scrub you gently and make your skin glow.  I like to use these in the shower so I don’ t have to worry about cleansing after I get out.

20151208_211121

Cal-Mag Ionic Liquid-20mL

This combo of calcium and magnesium helps with your bones and teeth.  You’re supposed to take two tablespoons daily which means this will last about two days.  Not sure if that’s enough to make a difference but I suppose some is better than none.

20151208_211132

Duckish Lotion Stick-10g $7.00

This is an unscented lotion stick and I have never understood why you would want this.   I like lotion to be liquid personally.  This really does have no scent and is softer then the other solid lotions I’ve tried so maybe for an after bath moisturizer it will be good.

20151208_211142 20151208_211214

Me Maxeffects Eye & Face Makeup Remover Plus Toner-5mL $0.25 x 2

I have received these samples in some other box before and I think I liked them.  Anything that means I get to skip a step in my skincare routine is a good thing.  This requires no rinsing or other steps, just put onto a cotton ball and wipe your face clean.

This month’s  box had 13 samples in it.  The site is back up to normal with pricing or links to where to buy items so I was able to work out that the value is $57.17, which is one of the higher ones I’ve ever got from them. I like this box and have found a bunch of things I would never have bought that either work really well or taste good.  I tended to dismiss most products like this out of hand as not good or too tree huggerish so I’m pleasantly surprised with the items.

Little Life Box November 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20151114_145305 20151114_145330

Somehow this box kept getting put on the bottom of my pile and while I received it a while ago I just never got around to blogging it.  This was their 2 year anniversary and because of that they switched up their boxes.  They also included a card, which was new.

20151114_145349

The inside hasn’t changed though…..still packed full. Though there was no post card this month.

20151114_145358

Simply 7 Quinoa Chips in Sea Salt-23g $1.00

I don’t like quinoa but these are actually quite tasty.  This little bag has just over 100 calories and that means I can snack on these.  They are crispy and have just the right amount of salt to make them feel like a real chip, without the guilt.

20151114_145409

Elan Organic Sunflower Seeds-200g $3.45

I love sunflower seeds.  I have mostly stopped eating the ones in the shell because with the girls it’s just a pain and a mess because they want some and then I have to open theirs and then I get none and so this way I can just pour a few in a bowl for them and eat some myself without the drama.

20151114_145425

Planima Sprouted Vitality Bar in Hazelnut Cocoa & Maca-50g $3.33

I have never tried the whole sprouting thing that seems to be the current fad.  This feels like it’s very dense and it has 200 calories.  It has a base made of dates and then they add in a bunch of other good foods to make the bar.  I’m a bit wary but I’m sure it’s tasty.

20151114_145450

Raw Reserve Green Superfood in Berry-8g $2.00 x 2

So I had their regular green superfood and it was so horrible I couldn’t drink my smoothie.  I’m going to try this one since maybe berry flavour in a berry smoothie might disguise the taste of the rest of it.

20151114_145501

Flapjacked Protein Pancake Mix-113g $3.66

The girls and Hubs eat pancakes one day a week while I’m at work.  I don’t know that I can convince him to try this but maybe once I’m on holidays I can say I’ll make breakfast one day and give it a go.  I received buttermilk flavour, which is good.

20151114_145517

Earthpaste Toothpaste in Peppermint & Lemon Twist-3g $0.25 x 2

This is natural toothpaste that has no fluoride, so it’s safe for kids and it also doesn’t foam, which is kind of boring.  They don’t directly market this to kids but it is fine for them to use.  I’ll probably be the one who does try them out and while some natural toothpaste can be gross tasting I’m hoping that since these are flavoured they will be better.

20151114_145530

Neocell Beauty Bursts in Super Fruit Punch & Fresh Mint Chocolate-1 chew $0.47 x 2

These chews give you collagen, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin c.  They don’t contain any gluten or soy and are supposed to make you more beautiful from the inside out.  Not the tastiest though.  At least the berry one.

20151114_145540

Weleda Arnica Massage Oil-2mL $0.39

This massage oil is supposed to be used after a workout to relieve muscle tension.  I know that arnica is also used to heal bruising so I’m guessing this is just an advanced use for it.  Now if only I could get a massage from Hubs……

20151114_145555

Redmond Real Salt Sea Salt-6g $0.21

This is a tiny vial but I don’t use much salt at all in anything so it’ll actually last me a while.  Sea salt is the best and I rarely buy it so this is a special treat for me.  This is a fine ground salt and contains trace minerals like all natural salt does.

20151114_145611

SBT Sniffle Stick-$4.95

This is like a Vick’s inhaler but all natural.  You apply it to your nostrils and chest when you have a cold and it helps you out.  It is safe to use on kids.  It smells really strongly so I think it can’t help but work somewhat.  No one is sick right now…knock on wood but I know that there will be colds in the future so we will be using this.

20151114_145643

Four O’Clock Winter Collection Teas

I have received this brand of tea plenty of times from them.  I like tea and have at least one cup a day so more is never a problem.  The flavours included this time were gingerbread and almond biscotti.  I also like that they decorate the pouches.  Just a little thing that makes it better.

20151114_145704

Urban Spa Classic Nail Brush-$3.00

This will probably go to my Hubby’s bathroom.  I don’t need a nail brush, my hands are never that dirty.  This is the second Urban Spa item I’ve received and the first was easy to use and is still lasting so the quality is good.

20151114_145714

PB & Me Peanut Butter Powder-180g $8.09

I’m so not sure about this at all. Why would I want powdered peanut butter?  I guess the fact that it has 90% less calories then normal would be one but it seems so odd.  You just mix it with water and you get peanut butter.  You can then use it exactly as you would standard out of a jar peanut butter.  We’ll see…..

This month’s  box had 17 samples in it.  The site is back up to normal with pricing or links to where to buy items so I was able to work out that the value is $33.02. I like this box and have found a bunch of things I would never have bought that either work really well or taste good.  I tended to dismiss most products like this out of hand as not good or too tree huggerish so I’m pleasantly surprised with the items.

Little Life Box October 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20151009_124024 20151009_124039

So fall perfect!!!  They really do take that extra time to make sure the paper and post card are seasonal and beautiful.  Box is stuffed to the top again.

20151009_124050

Tyrrell’s Veg Crisps

I like sweet potato chips but I’m not sure how much I’ll like the chilli part.  I’m going to have to hurry up and eat them though as they expire on the 14th.  Oddly they do not have these listed on the LLB site, which I think is a first for me.  These are imported from the UK and I hope they are good.

20151009_124100

Elan Coconut Smiles

Maybe the site is not completely updated because these aren’t there either.  These are roasted coconut pieces and that’s it.  They are organic, gmo, and gluten free.  Oh and let me add delicious!  I never buy coconut like this, just the shredded stuff for baking but I should because I always eat it when I am at my brothers.

20151009_124114

Buddy Fruits Coconut Milk & Tropical Fruit Blend-$1.75

This is a squeeze tube of blended fruit.  I always buy the yogurt kind for the girls and don’t much care for them myself.  I’m thinking I could substitute this in for one of theirs and it would be good.  This contains a whole serving of fruit and no weird things.

20151009_124123

Made Good Strawberry Granola Minis-$1.25

So these look delicious too.  They are little balls of granola, feels like about 9 in there.  I like that instead of the bar you can pop one in your mouth and not have the sticky mess to deal with.  Probably won’t share these….just sayin’.

20151009_124134

Herbamare Bouillon Cubes

I almost never use vegetable bouillon but it doesn’t hurt to have it on hand.  I had previously received a salt substitute sample from then and I love it so I’m sure once I need this it will be tasty.  There are 2 cubes in the pack and they are also Vegan.

20151009_124144

Splendor Garden Ground Cinnamon

This sample of spice is organic and Canadian.  With Christmas baking coming up soon more cinnamon is just what I need.  It looks the same as what I have in my cupboard right now and I’m going to assume it may taste better just being Canadian.

20151009_124158

Urban Spa Foot File-$3.00

This foot file is made to be used wet or dry and on all areas of the foot that have a callous you want removed.  I find that having to wear socks and shoes for the next 6 months make my heels not so nice.  Now if I could just find the time to have bath alone I might get to use this.

20151009_124210

Jnantik Mayan Coffee Alternative-$3.33

I don’t have a clue what this is. I thought tea was your coffee alternative.  This makes you a cup of instant “coffee” and is made from brosimum alicastrum seed.  I don’t drink regular coffee so I will pass this on to Hubs and see if he likes it.  Seems odd to me.

20151009_124224

Choice Organic Teas Decaffeinated Earl Grey Tea Bags

I don’t drink Earl Grey tea either.  I’m a herbal kinda girl.  However….Hubs loves Earl Grey and I’ll just toss these into his bunch and he’ll probably never even notice the difference.

20151009_124257

Herstat Natural Cold Sore Treatment

There really is an odd bunch of stuff in the box this month.  This cold sore cream helps to heal up sores in less time than just letting them be.  It also is supposed to help relieve pain from them.  If I get one I guess I can try it out.

20151009_124319

Gardener’s Dream Assorted Samples

This package contained five packets of various samples.  I got a Citrus Body Scrub, Hand and Body Cream, Facial Moisturizer, Face & Body Wash, and Ohm Facial Moisturizer.  They seem to have a whole line from the enclosed pamphlet and are all made in Canada.  They have no chemicals, toxic elements, or parabens.

October’s  box had 16 samples in it.  I don’t have a value this month since a whole lot of the items are not listed on their site like normal.  I like this box and have found a bunch of things I would never have bought that either work really well or taste good.  I tended to dismiss most products like this out of hand as not good or too tree huggerish so I’m pleasantly surprised with the items.

Little Life Box September 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20150915_181014 20150915_181031

The first and second views of this box.  It’s so pretty and the included post card is a nice touch.

20150922_111933

Stash Organic Tea-2 bags $0.23 each

We are getting to that time of year when tea is a welcome addition to an evening routine.  They sent me a Premium Green and a Cascade Mint and I like both.  I’ve had Stash teas before but this will be my first time trying their organic line.

20150922_111944

Fourmi Bionique Gourmet Dried Fruit & Nuts-60g $2.23

This is a mix of cranberries, strawberries, cherries, blueberries, almonds, and chocolate.  It’s really tasty and has enough sweetness that you don’t want to eat all of it at once.  It has only 280 calories in the whole package but still.

20150922_111956

Sunbutter Original Sunflower Spread-2×1.1oz. $0.41 each

They sent out  the creamy variety and while we are lucky enough to not have any allergies to deal with we also have liked the non-peanut butters we have tried.  Each one of these tubs has 2 tablespoons worth in it so that will do for a breakfast each.

20150922_112009

Sisu Multivitamin U Cubes-2x2pc $0.42 each

Bug is getting a multivitamin a day so I’m happy to try new ones.  They sent out one that’s calcium & D3 and one that is a multivitamin.  They are naturally sweetened and coated with tapioca crystals.  I think the complaint I may get is that they are not shaped like something.

20150922_112021

Grandma Emily Organic Granola-2x40g $0.59 each

This is a blend of oats, nuts, and coconut sweetened with agave nectar.  I eat these just straight out of the bag as a snack.  They give me the crunch I am usually looking for when I want something.

20150922_112032

Bach Rescue Night Melts-28’s $10.25

These are a non habit forming sleep aid.  They use White Chestnut essence, which helps to switch off the mind.  I have been using some meditation to help me drift off.  I know that since I’m still nursing my little one that I won’t be using these soon but they don’t expire till next June so there should be a time eventually.

20150922_112044

Bounce Spirulina Ginseng Kick Ball-$2.33

This is a mix of almonds, oats, and seeds.  I have tried a different flavour of these balls and it was good so I am optimistic of these.  This one is an energy boost.  Lord knows there are days I need that.

20150922_112054

Larabar Uber Crunchy Nut Bar-$2.83

This is dark chocolate pecan with sea salt flavoured.  It is gluten free, kosher, non GMO, low sodium, and a source of fibre.  It’s sad to me to notice that I could eat that whole bag of granola from above or this one bar and get the almost same amount of calories.  It just seems wrong somehow.

20150922_112104

Theobroma 72% Dark Chocolate Bar-10g $0.78

I do not really care for dark chocolate so this will go to Hubs.  He loves it and has a few pieces every night.  This is an organic treat and since I was not entirely paying attention Bear has ripped it open and eaten a little bite.  She apparently doesn’t care too much for it either since she spit it out and now I have a gross mess to clean up.

20150922_112115

Land Art Liquid Vitamin D Supplement-20mL $1.32

I do take a pill form vitamin D but I’m always glad to get more.  I’m well aware my diet is lacking in a few things so I’m topping up.

20150922_112133

I Love… Raspberry & Blackberry Bubble Bath-30mL $0.36

This smells so nice!  While the kids will probably get to use this I am going to attempt to get at least one alone bath with it.  This is available at Shopper’s Drug Mart so if we really like it, it’s simple to get more.

20150922_112143

Mori-Nu Soft Silken Tofu-340g $1.39

There is no way my hubby will eat this so I’m going to have to sneak it into a dip maybe at Xmas or Thanksgiving.  I am not a huge fan of tofu but I will eat it occasionally.  I don’t think I’ve ever had the soft one though.

20150922_112151 20150922_112159

I don’t think I’ve ever included a picture of it before but each month there is also a tip from Bright Almond.  This month it’s about what foods are beneficial to your kids brains.

September’s  box had 16 samples in it.  However three of those were  multiple samples of the same things.  The value was $24.79.  I like this box and have found a bunch of things I would never have bought that either work really well or taste good.  I tended to dismiss most products like this out of hand as not good or too tree huggerish so I’m pleasantly surprised with the items.

Little Life Box August 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20150818_155200 20150818_155215

The box is beautiful inside, as always.  There is a post card and seasonal wrapping.  Under all that I found some food off the bat.

20150818_155230

I Heart Keenwah Quinoa Puffs-2x43g $2.97 each

There were two flavours included this month, Aged Cheddar and Herbes De Provence.  I have discovered I’m not a huge quinoa fan, when it’s just quinoa but once you make it a chip or in this case a puff, I enjoy them.  I like getting these snack sized bags since if I open a big bag of chips I’ll eat a ton but one of these bags is enough.

20150818_155251

Free For All Kitchen Gluten Free Brownie Thins-2x28g $1.00 each

Well these just look great.  Crispy chocolate with a sprinkle of sea salt on top?  Yes please!!  I don’t have a gluten issue and think most companies are pandering to a fad that has been proven to be unhealthy if you don’t have an actual diagnosed gluten allergy however none of that will stop me from eating these and probably enjoying every last crumb.

20150818_155344

Four o’Clock Teas 2x2pk $0.24 each

I have received a few different Four O’Clock teas before from them and they are good.  Inside each was a Chocolate Spice and a Green Tea Chai.  Also these is a $0.50 coupon for the next time you buy them.  They are only sold in one store here in town and I never shop there so it’s a bit of a lost one for me.

20150818_155401

Solo Energy Apple Cinnamon With Quinoa Bar-50g $2.69

This energy bar packs 10g of protein and 3g of fibre into a yogurt coated, gluten-free soft bar.  They say this is going to taste like a slice of apple pie so I’m saving this for my evening snack.

20150818_155410

Ethical Bean Rocket Fuel Coffee-70g $2.67

That’s an approximate weight and price on this one because there is nothing listed so I weighed it package and all to get 70g.  This is a French Roast ground coffee  and it’s listed as a dark roast with a cocoa finish.  I only drink coffee if it comes frozen or mixed into a latte so hopefully Hubby likes this.  If not I’ll just take it to work and it’ll get used up there.

20150818_155423

Arome Oils Hand Lotion in Hawaiian Breeze-14g $$0.75

This lotion smells OMG good!!  It’s just floral but the other underlying scents are a mystery to me.  It’s made with shea butter, sunflower seed oil, and avocado oil plus natural ingredients. It’s not greasy at all and I honestly cannot stop smelling my hands.  It’s not horribly expensive and they have lots of scents so I may have to order some directly.

20150818_155431

Mediterra Pistachio & Honey Sesame Energy Bar-37g $2.00

So this started off sounding like something I wanted to devour and then I got to the sesame part…….I will eat sesame seeds in things or on buns but a whole bar made up of them topped with deliciousness doesn’t sound like my cup of tea.  I guess I’ll give it a try and the dog will eat the rest if I hate it.

20150818_155447

Tasty Bite Kung Pao Noodles-250g $3.34

These are a vegan, MSG free, Kosher, and preservative free noodle side dish.  You cook them in the microwave right in the bag and serve.  After reading the ingredients there doesn’t seem to be anything odd in there.  The only issue is how spicy they might be.  It says Zesty, which is a touch ambiguous.

20150818_155520

Tolan Skincare Foam Cleanser-50mL $7.14

This is a Canadian(yay) company that makes all natural products.  I received the foam cleanser for your face but they have haircare, face and foot care products as well.  This one is paraben free, hypo-allergenic, has no artificial preservatives, fragrances, perfumes or colour and they do no animal testing.  All of their line is BOGO for the month of August as well.  The pump foams it up it seems to work well to remove makeup.  I’m almost at the bottom of my current cleanser so this shall slide into it’s place.

August’s box had 14 samples in it.  However four of those were teabags.  The value was $27.49 which is not the highest it’s been but still okay.  I like this box and have found a bunch of things I would never have bought that either work really well or taste good.  I tended to dismiss most products like this out of hand as not good or too tree huggerish so I’m pleasantly surprised with the items.

Little Life Box July 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20150716_203720

These boxes always come with a seasonal postcard and tissue paper.  It’s sp pretty and if you’re careful you can reuse the paper.

20150716_203744

Deep River Snacks Rosemary & Olive Oil Kettle Cooked Potato Chips-28g $0.44

I love chips.  I sometimes just need that hit of pure salty goodness.  Kettle chips have that extra crunch to make them even more satisfying.  These won’t last long.

20150716_203755

Mrs.Crimble’s Chocolate Coated Rice Cakes-96g $4.92

We had the yogurt coated ones before and those were really good so I have high hopes for these.  The kids really like them and so do I so it becomes a battle to eat them.

20150716_203824

Steripod Toothbrush Sanitizer-$3.50

This is so cool!!!  You put your toothbrush inside this clippy thing and it has a compound in it that keeps your toothbrush clean and fresh.  Each one lasts for three months.

20150716_203839 20150716_204052 20150716_204123

Level Ground Black Tea-$6.00

I rarely drink black tea but my hubby enjoys it so this will get used.  I like that it’s loose leaf instead of bags, makes for a nice change.  Also included were a recipe and discount code and a little booklet about the company and all their products.

20150716_203853

Amazing Grass Raw Reserve Green Superfood-2x8g $2.00 each

This powder can be mixed with water, juice or thrown in a smoothie.  It contains all sorts of sea grasses and cereal grasses.  I’m thinking I might not like this very much but I’ll give it a go.  I’ve been surprised by superfood powders before.

20150716_203905 20150716_204103

Hemp Pro 70 Protein Powder in Chocolate and Vanilla-15g $0.50 each

These are another powder to blend into your smoothies.  They also give you a quick method on the back to just add them to 1-1/2 cups of your favorite dairy-like beverage, shake, and go.  I think that might be how I’ll go with them.  I hope they are not too chalky textured.

20150716_203920

Goddess Garden Organics Sport and Sunny Body Sunscreens-$0.88 & $4.41

I have received multiple versions and bottles of this sunscreen and have used them all up this summer.  I like this sunscreen and I like using it on the kids too.  It is a natural sunscreen and it has worked really well.  I will happily get more of this until September comes.

20150716_203935 20150716_204142

PureFit Granola Crunch Bar-$3.11 & Annie’s Organic Chocolate Chip Granola Bar-$0.88

These will get eaten in short order and I have yet to get one that I don’t like.  I find you can’t even tell that these ones are healthier than the regular ones.  They taste great and if they are better for you than the others that’s just a bonus.

20150716_203953 20150716_204133

Ester-C Energy Boost Packets in Sweet Wildberry-$19.49

These are a multi vitamin and mineral supplement drink mix.  I always need things to make my water at work taste better so that’s where these are headed off too.  It’s just a bonus that they are actually doing me some good.

20150716_204027

Mineral Matrix Pure Dehydrated Goat Whey-$1.61×2

This sounds so gross I can’t even…….

You mix this into hot water, hot milk or juice.  It is made to provide a high content of minerals which your body recognises and absorbs easily.  It’s basically just dehydrated cheese and ugh…..

July’s box had 15 samples in it. That of course counts each packet as one.  The value was $51.85 which is good but most of that was the drink mix.  I like this box and have found a bunch of things I would never have bought that either work really well or taste good.  I tended to dismiss most products like this out of hand as not good or too tree huggerish so I’m pleasantly surprised with the items.

Little Life Box June 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20150609_161810 20150609_161827

The paper they use is always so pretty!  The include a post card too.  Underneath is a whole pile of stuff to explore.

20150609_161846 20150609_162230

Ra Energy Natural Food Energy Mix in Plain-227g $11.99

This is a shaker of a blend of five seeds.  It has hemp hearts, unhulled sesame seeds, buckwheat, flax and chia and just tastes nutty almost.  I could see myself using this on top of yogurt or salad.  I actually would probably just eat it plain out of the jar a small handful at a time. It is supposed to help you balance your blood sugar by reducing cravings and carb crashes.  I like it.  I’m surprised.

20150609_161906

Gluten-Free Soy Sauce by Peter Piper Pepper-300mL $4.55

I had received actual peppercorns from this same company last month but am excited to try this soy sauce.  We don’t use a bunch of soy sauce in our house but it’s definitely something we always have on hand.

20150609_161925

Natural Deodorant by Routine in Sexy Sadie-5mL $2.80ish

I’m guessing on the quantity on this one as it’s unmarked.  This is probably the most strongly scented natural deodorant I’ve received but the smell is not offensive.   I was hesitant to use these at first but found they work just fine.  The biggest issue is that you have to use your fingers to apply them, which is a bit messy.  This sample might last 3 days, so it’s pretty small.

20150609_161935

Yogourt Coated Rice Cakes by Mrs.Crimble’s-96g $5.21

I don’t know anyone who spells yogurt that way but that’s how it is on the package so I used it.  Even spellcheck thinks it’s wrong.  Moving on….These look interesting.  They are a normal rice cake but then they have a yogurt topping on them.  It’ll add some life to rice cakes instead of putting Nutella on them negating any benefit I might have been getting.

20150609_161945

Cacao Mint Protein Bomb by Bounce-42g $2.33

This is a chewy mix of cacao, seeds and whey formed into a soft cake.  It seems to have a bunch of benefits for most of your body but I’m just hoping it tastes okay.

20150609_162020

Four O’Clock Teas Spring/Summer Collection Assortment-$0.24 each

I had received a different sample pack from this brand last month.  These ones can be drank either hot or cold.  I got two packs containing Pink Lemonade and Cucumber Mint and will probably go hot since I would need to add a bunch of sugar to make real iced tea that I want to drink.

20150609_162042

Tex Mex Burger Mix by GoGo Quinoa-125g $2.67

This is a meatless burger mix made up of precooked foods you need to just add water too.  This package will make two burgers.  I’m not sure that I could get anyone in my household but me to eat a meatless burger.  I like the frozen vegetable ones you can buy so I’m willing to give these a go.

20150609_162055 20150609_162213

VegEssential All In One Protein by Progressive-45g $3.64

This Natural Vanilla flavoured supplement is made to be added to any beverage you want and blended in.  It looks like they used milk in the picture on the package which might be good, like a milkshake flavour maybe.  This has all the good things you need in you diet in it and they included a contest flyer so you can win your own.

20150609_162105

Peanut Butter Clutter Mini Jimmybar!-23g $1.37

This little snack bar is made from dates, peanut butter, brown rice, peanuts, almonds and honey.  I think it sounds delicious.  It sounds like it would stop that craving for a chocolate bar or snack easily.

20150609_162122 20150609_162158

Facial Natural Sunscreen by Goddess Garden Organics-6mL $1.05

This is an anti-aging sunscreen made for use on your face.  It has an SPF 30 and is water resistant for 40 minutes.  My face is about the only place I regularly use sunscreen on myself so I’m happy with the sample.

20150609_162205

Also included this month was a card reminding everyone that they have a Father’s Day box available.

June’s box had 13 samples in it.  However four of those were teabags.  The value was $36.57 which is good.  I like this box and have found a bunch of things I would never have bought that either work really well or taste good.  I tended to dismiss most products like this out of hand as not good or too tree huggerish so I’m pleasantly surprised with the items.

Little Life Box May 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

2015-05-12 13.23.52 2015-05-12 13.24.05

The box came with an extra sticker on it this month.  Inside was another card with the info about all the items being Fairtrade this month.

2015-05-12 13.24.49

Inside all that pretty wrapping was another full box.  The lid was kinda pushed up so I was wondering what was so big that it didn’t want to fit.

2015-05-12 13.25.12

Peter Piper Pepper-75g $5.45

I was almost out of peppercorns so this came at the right time.  These are organic and obviously fairtrade to go with the box. There is probably enough to fill my grinder at least twice and they are vacuum sealed so they will be fresh till I open them.

2015-05-12 13.25.23

Chillin’ Coffee by Doi CHaang Coffee Co.-340g $11.99

This whole bean coffee is roasted in Vancouver, which is cool.  I don’t drink coffee but Hubby does so I’ll see if he wants to try this or I might just pass it on to someone who will enjoy it.

2015-05-12 13.25.44 2015-05-12 13.27.52 2015-05-12 13.28.14

Dutch-Processed Cocoa Powder by Camino-224g $8.79

So this was the box bending culprit.  We go through a fair amount of cocoa powder here do to my Hubby’s baking skill with brownies.  I do not like his brownies but the girls and him can eat a whole pan in a couple of days. The chocolate bars from Camino I’ve received in these boxes have been good so I expect this to be no different.

2015-05-12 13.26.06

Premium Herbal Teas by Tega-$0.29 each

I received a tea bag of Lemon Hibiscus Green Rooibos, Wild Berry Green Rooibos, Chocolate Mint Rooibos, and Masala Chai Rooibos.  I think I’ve only had Rooibos tea once before so I’m not too sure about what it tastes like but I’m excited to give the flavours a try.  I drink tea a few times a week and I know I;ve got some cool summer evenings coming up where a cup of tea is just what is needed to make a great evening.

2015-05-12 13.26.21

Assorted Teas by Four O’Clock Teas-$0.24 each

Inside this little envelope are two packages of tea.  I received Chocolate Spice Herbal Tea and Decaffeinated Green Tea Chai. They smell great and I’m always happy to get more teas in different flavours.  This tea is made in Canada, which is a bonus..  They also included a coupon on the inside of the package but I’ve never seen this brand where I shop so I might have to pay more attention.

2015-05-12 13.26.31

Dark Chocolate Almond Bar by Camino-100g $5.49

This is the third time I’ve received a Camino chocolate bar in this box but each time has been a different flavour.  They do say you won’t get the exact same item but the differences are sometimes very slight.  That being said, I like these bars.  I gave the last one to my Hubby since it was coffee flavoured but I have no issues with this one.

2015-05-12 13.26.43

Glee Gum-2 piece packs $0.22 each

I have been wanting to try this gum for a while, since I’ve seen it all over the internet lately.  I got two flavours, bubblegum and tangerine.  This gum is made from Chicle, which I have no idea what is but is a natural gum base.  It is also non-GMO and aspartame free.

2015-05-12 13.26.54

Dark Velvet Chocolate by Alter Eco Foods-20g $1.00

The website describes this as ” Melty smooth with a subtle flowery bouquet and honey finish”.  Ummmm okay.  I didn’t know chocolate was described that way but I’m sure it tastes good.  There’s not really bad chocolate.

2015-05-12 13.27.25 2015-05-12 13.27.44

Shea Body & Face Balm by Delapointe-5g $2.99

This lotion will moisturize, relieve and protect skin using 100% shea butter.  It is a balm so it’s almost a solid in the tub but once you warm it on your skin it becomes very spreadable.  It doesn’t smell that great but I think it will be a super deep moisturizing lotion.

2015-05-12 13.28.30 2015-05-12 13.28.40

Also included was a little flyer telling you all about Fairtrade and how it benefits the farmers and the workers.

This months box has a value of $37.79.  There were 14 samples and with the exception of the coffee I won’t use personally I like everything else.  This box was back to almost entirely food products but four of them were full sized.  I’m really enjoying this box and have found some new things I would never had picked up on my own.  I’ve also been happily surprised at how much I enjoy the better for you versions of things I had dismissed out of hand.

Little Life Box April 2015

Little Life Box is a monthly shipment of items that help you to try out items so you can try out healthier or alternative versions of things you use or eat everyday.  You will get up to a dozen items each month and they promise to never ship you the same item twice, though you may get a different flavour of the same item.  They are a Canadian company as well so that’s nice too.  Subscriptions will run you  $19.95 a month or less with longer plans.  They offer a purely Vegan option as well.  I went with their original box since I don’t have a preference towards vegan items. I have found that these boxes are stuffed full!

20150413_191437

The inside is very pretty and you get the cutest blank post card in each box.

20150413_191500

Under it all is the products.  Again this box is full to the top!

20150413_191513 20150413_191533

Grandma Emily’s Granola Bars-$2.50 each

The first  granola bar is a mix of pure chocolate blended with fruits, oatmeal and nuts.  It is a source of fibre and iron and contains no wheat.  It is a soft bar and looks really tasty. The second one is a tropical fruit bar. I’m not sure how it get’s that name since the only fruit in it at all is cranberries. They are a little expensive for me to consider them as a regular snack for the kids but I know there will be no problems getting them to eat this ones.

20150413_191523

Three Farmers Balsamic and Cracked Pepper Roasted Chickpeas-$5.00

I have never tried roasted chickpeas before.  I’m not a huge fan of chickpeas in any other form but maybe these will be like corn nuts.  Okay now I’ve tried them and they are okay.  A little on the spicy side from the black pepper though.  I wouldn’t eat them by the handful but a few at a time will be good. I’m surprised.

20150413_191545 20150414_125030

Crio Beans Chocolate Covered Cocoa Beans-$3.94

These are really good!  They are covered in dark chocolate and have that awesome crispy center of a cocoa bean.  They are shockingly low in calories.  They are super high in antioxidants and that will be my excuse to eat a few a day.

20150414_124609

GoGo Quinoa Dark Chocolate Cake Mix-$2.65

This mix is enough to make 6 cupcakes.  I had received a cookie from this brand in an earlier box and it was really good so I’m thinking this will be okay too.  I had never eaten quinoa before that cookie and didn’t know what to expect.  If there was no label on this you couldn’t tell by looking that it was not normal cake mix.

20150414_124622

Camino Espresso Dark Chocolate Bar-$5.49

I’m sad.  I dislike dark chocolate and coffee.  My husband on the other hand will enjoy it.  I do like this brand of chocolate bar and the other flavours I’ve tried have all been fantastic.

20150414_124635

Tea India Masala Chai Tea Latte Mix-$3.58 each

I love chai tea.  You just need to add hot water and you get a cup of deliciousness.  Suoer happy to get these.

20150414_124648 20150414_125017

Wow Butter-$0.05 each

I’ve had this before and it really is just like peanut butter.  With Bug in school now I guess I’ll have to start buying stuff like this if she needs lunches or snacks.

20150414_124659

Ecotools Bamboo Cosmetic Applicators-$2.69

This is a cool addition to the box.  There are 20 in there with 3 assorted head shapes.  These will be good for quick times when I don’t have my big brushes handy.

20150414_124724 20150414_125008

Pure Biodegradable Cleaning Products-$0.50

There is a laundry soap sample and a multi use cleaner sample.  You get 4 loads of laundry from this sample and the cleaner is one capful to 2L of water so there will be plenty with that one.  I have tried a few natural products like this and find that they work just as well as chemical cleaners.  It’s nice to know these will be less toxic for the kidlets and I can worry less about them putting things in their mouths after I clean them.  They also included a discount code for the online store.

20150414_124958

These cards are a healthy living tip and a note saying they have a Mother’s Day gift box.

This months box has a value of $32.53.  There were 13 samples and with the exception of the chocolate bar I like everything, thankfully Hubby will take care of that one.  This box had a bit more of a variance in items instead of just food products.  I’m really enjoying this box and have found some new things I would never had picked up on my own.
