House Box October 2016

House Box is a Canadian bi-monthly subscription box that sends you 5 or more assorted home product samples.  Plans start at $21.95 but do go down with longer plans and shipping is $9.95.  Taxes are included in the pricing.  The site says you can review your products and shape future boxes but so far I can’t figure out how to make that happen.  The items included are Canadian companies too!  After you have tried them out you can purchase the full sized version from the website or they have links direct to the companies.  Let’s see what was inside this month.

20161019_180441 20161019_180500

This is a small box but it always has interesting things in it.  The first peek left me curious.

20161019_180555 20161019_180602

As you can see this is box number seven for them. The theme is Welcome To Fall.  The back of the card tells you all about the items they found to help you out this time.

20161019_180619

Fox Run Brands Pumpkin Cookie Cutter-$3.50

I have no idea what is going on with this image.  I keep flipping it and then it goes back to being sideways.  I don’t do much Halloween cookie baking but this will join a rather large cutter collection.

20161019_180727 20161019_180753

Arbonne Sample Collection

There was a whole bag of goodies from Arbonne in the box this month.  We have a Protein Shake, Fizz Stick, Fit Chew, and Pure Vibrance Hair Serum.  I have not used any of these and honestly, I thought the chew was just a piece of candy, not an appetite suppressant.  I’m kinda off shakes right now but I’m sure it’ll get used eventually.  The drink mix will go to work and disappear quickly.  I can use the hair serum all the time.

The Laundry Tarts Pumpkin Spice Laundry Tablets-113g $1.90

This is the oddest thing I have ever received in a box…..pumpkin pie scented laundry soap.  This package is good for 2-8 loads depending on the size.  This soap is very earth and people friendly and made in Canada.

20161019_180624

Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts-15g $0.46

I have had these before and they are delicious.  I add them to smoothies and sprinkle them over salads.  They are an easy way to add protein to your meal.

20161019_180651 20161019_180704 20161019_180716

Herbal Healing Lipbalm-$6.50

I got the lemon one but there were two other possibilities.  There are made with 100% natural ingredients.  They also sent a 15% discount code.  This balm feels nice on my lips and I like the faint lemon scent.

I am very happy with this box.  This months has a value of $12.36 plus the Arbonne items, which is really low. There was a mix of all sorts of items for the home and with them all being Canadian it’s a bunch of good finds.  I have been on a mission to find more Canadian boxes since the exchange rate is so crappy right now and I’m glad to have found this one. The boxes have been consistently good, I wish they did a monthly box.  If you want to sign up let me know and I can send you a link!

House Box August 2016

House Box is a Canadian bi-monthly subscription box that sends you 5 or more assorted home product samples.  Plans start at $21.95 but do go down with longer plans and shipping is $9.95.  Taxes are included in the pricing.  The site says you can review your products and shape future boxes but so far I can’t figure out how to make that happen.  The items included are Canadian companies too!  After you have tried them out you can purchase the full sized version from the website or they have links direct to the companies.  Let’s see what was inside this month.

20160818_170642

They have such a cute little box!  It fits easily in a mailbox and yet is still full of useful things.

20160818_170704 20160818_170710

As you can see from the card, this is the back to school box.  The reverse tells you the items are to help you pack lunches in style and be gentle on the environment.  It also tells you the items, prices, and companies they are available from.

20160818_170722

My first peek gave nothing away as this bag covered everything.

20160818_170857

Snack Pack Reusables Snack Bag-$7.00 and Sandwich Bag-$9.00

I am having the best luck lately!  I was searching for how to make these and now this is the second box this month to send me some!  These are washable and keep food fresh for the day.

20160818_170810

Fox Run Brands Tea Kettle Descaler-$5.00

This little guy prevents the buildup of that white scale on the inside of your tea kettle.  I don’t think I’ve ever worried about it before but now I wonder if I should have?  You pop this in and it attracts all the sediment that would normally just cling to the sides.

20160818_170734 20160818_170740

Detour Coffee-60g $3.40

I don’t drink coffee but luckily my Hubby does so this will go to him.  This is a blend called Los Naranjos and it says it has notes of cola, grapefruit, stewed fruit, and vanilla.  That actually sounds delicious but not enough for me to drink it.  These are whole beans.

20160818_170756

The Soap Exchange Envirowash-75g $0.89

This is a concentrated powder laundry soap.  It has a lemon scent and you only need a tablespoon per load so it’ll last a while.  I love getting laundry soap samples!  I know I’m weird but it’s just such a great thing that you always need and who doesn’t want to try new things???

I am very happy with this box.  This months has a value of $25.29, which is still a little low but better than last month.

House Box June 2016

House Box is a Canadian bi-monthly subscription box that sends you 5 or more assorted home product samples.  Plans start at $21.95 but do go down with longer plans and shipping is $9.95.  Taxes are included in the pricing.  The site says you can review your products and shape future boxes but so far I can’t figure out how to make that happen.  The items included are Canadian companies too!  After you have tried them out you can purchase the full sized version from the website or they have links direct to the companies.  Let’s see what was inside this month.

20160621_202307

This subscription ships in a small branded box.  It looks professional but it has always been the same size so you know you’re never going to get anything really large from this one.

20160621_202316 20160621_202335

Peeking inside at first gives me no clue whatsoever as to what I might find.  Peeling back the tissue and removing the card only helped marginally.

20160621_202326

The back of the card lists all the items for this month, prices and reminds you that if you want to buy more you can visit their store or blog.

20160621_202412

Green Beaver Toothpaste-75mL $5.99

This toothpaste is fluoride-free, vegan, and gluten-free.  It is Frosty Mint flavour and let me tell you, it is super minty.  Like pop your eyes open and suck in a breath minty. It uses silica and calcium carbonate to whiten, xylitol to cleanse, and peppermint and menthol for breath freshening.

20160621_202343

Norwex Spirisponge-$5.25

This scrubby is made of a sponge covered in some type of a material with rough surface.  This is safe for use on Teflon but not stainless steel.  We always use these so I’m happy to try out a new type.

20160621_202526

Soak Wash-5mL $0.09 x3

This is a hand washing solution.  Each one of these packets has enough liquid to mix with one gallon of water to wash anything you would normally do a delicate wash on, such as lingerie, sweaters, swimsuits, workout clothes, or baby clothes.  I rarely to never wash delicate things by hand as I used to work in a dry cleaners and know a few things that get me around that but this might be good for some of the kids toys or blankets that I don’t want to toss in the washer.

20160621_202536

Fox Run Brands Garlic Peeler-$5.99

I have always wanted one of these!  You place a clove of garlic in it roll it up, and rub it back and forth, and voila, peeled garlic and no smell on your hands. I love it. Kitchen gadgets make me so happy!

20160621_202447

Honey Candles Beeswax Tea Lights-$2.38 x 2

I love the smell of beeswax candles.  These two tealights are so wonderful.  Beeswax candles don’t release any toxins when you burn them.  These have a burn time of 4-5 hours each.

20160621_202545

Neal’s Yard Geranium and Orange Hand Cream-$0.10

This cream is good for your skin and nails, helping to keep them moisturised and protected.  It is organic and uses avocado, hemp, and olive oils.  I’m not going to open it to see how it smells or works but I’m sure it’s lovely.

I am very happy with this box.  This months has a value of $22.36, which is still a little low but better than last month.   I’m a little sad that there are a few packet samples this time but that has been rare in this box so maybe it’s just this month.  There was a mix of all sorts of items for the home and with them all being Canadian it’s a bunch of good finds.  I have been on a mission to find more Canadian boxes since the exchange rate is so crappy right now and I’m glad to have found this one.  I hope that the rest of the boxes from them are as good as this one.  If you want to sign up let me know and I can send you a link!

House Box April 2016

House Box is a Canadian bi-monthly subscription box that sends you 5 or more assorted home product samples.  Plans start at $21.95 but do go down with longer plans and shipping is $9.95.  Taxes are included in the pricing.  The site says you can review your products and shape future boxes but so far I can’t figure out how to make that happen.  The items included are Canadian companies too!  After you have tried them out you can purchase the full sized version from the website or they have links direct to the companies.  Let’s see what was inside this month.

20160420_174635 20160420_174642

They have a good shipping box and as I mentioned last time it’s quite small.  However they fill it up well and you can see the info card just on the top.

20160420_174650 20160420_174656

Here’s the whole info card.  It shows this month is all about Spring Cleaning.  The back tells you about the items included and gives the pricing.

20160420_174706

Here’s a shot of everything to be found under the papers and wrapping.

20160420_174904

Dizolve Eco-Strips Laundry Detergent-6 Strips $1.22

These laundry strips are made to make your laundry easier.  You tear a strip off the pad and toss it right into your machine.  They are phosphate-free, biodegradable, and hypoallergenic.  The whole strip will dissolve during the cycle, so there is nothing for you to dig out of your machine or load at the end.

20160420_174800

Laundry Tarts Sweet Spot Stain Remover-$6.66

I guess they feel the laundry is the place to be right now.  You can use this stick to get rid of new stains and it may even help lessen old ones.  It is made with natural ingredients and safe for sensitive skin.  I like that I can rub it on stains and then just toss it in the machine.

20160420_174818

JBK Pottery Pot MInder-$5.00

This little disk helps to prevent pots from boiling over.  You drop it in  and then as the water begins to boil it rattles on the bottom of the pot and reminds you that you’ve got something on the stove.  I had always wondered how these worked and now I know.

20160420_174717 20160420_174854

Tupperware

I love Tupperware but almost never have the real thing because my Hubby wrecks it.  This little container is perfect for taking salad dressing for my lunches.  They also included the latest magazine and you can place orders online through the representative listed.

20160420_174741

Dark Horse Farms 100% Natural Soap by Beelites-$1.40

This soap is so scented.  As soon as I took it out of the baggie it came in the whole room smells like tea.  I love getting these little soaps and my current sliver in the bathroom needs to be replaced and I think this will be just the thing.  This soap is chemical, preservative, harsh detergent, colourant, and GMO free.

20160420_174839

Yogi Tea-$0.34 x 4

These teas are made with organic ingredients.  They offer 19 different varieties and in my box I received Restful Sleep, Egyptian Licorice, Lemon Ginger, and Green Tea Kombucha.  The only one I won’t drink is the licorice one.  I can never have too much tea and thanks to boxes my stash is usually full.

I am very happy with this box.  This months has a value of $15.65, which I think is a little low. I know I didn’t include the Tupperware price but it’s not going to make a huge difference.

House Box February 2016

House Box is a Canadian bi-monthly subscription box that sends you 5 or more assorted home product samples.  Plans start at $21.95 but do go down with longer plans and shipping is $9.95.  Taxes are included in the pricing.  The site says you can review your products and shape future boxes but so far I can’t figure out how to make that happen.  The items included are Canadian companies too!  After you have tried them out you can purchase the full sized version from the website or they have links direct to the companies.  Let’s see what was inside this month.

20160310_142241

The box was smaller than I was expecting.  It fit in the mailbox actually.  It is well branded and looks professional.  The blue tape you can see is actually a sticker with their name on it as well.

20160310_142259

Opening the lid revealed more good packaging.  There is a card on top and tissue paper hiding the goodies.

20160310_142312

Under all that was my stuff and the box is full and well packed.  I could see a few things and all items were in their own bag or package.

20160310_142324

The front of the info card (shown above) let you know what box you received.  The back lists the products, a little bit about each of them, and retail prices for them.  It also reminds you that you can find more of them on their site or blog.

20160310_142727

Kienna Coffee Roasters Kienna Cup-$5.00

This is a system that replaces the k-cups you would normally use in single serve coffee Machnes.  They included 2 Columbian and one French Dark to try out plus there are two different holders depending on what generation of Keurig you have.  The difference using this is that there is no plastic to toss after, just the compostable pod.  I don’t drink coffee but I thing I could totally out my tea bag in this and run it through.  We have a machine in our office and I use it daily anyways so this might make my life easier.

20160310_142421

Blue Wonder Try Me Cloth-$15.00

This cloth is supposed to replace all other cleaning tools in my house.  It uses just water and leaves no streaks.  It also dries as you clean and removes bacteria.  It is microfibre, which is a texture I dislike on my hands but I’m all for anything that helps make cleaning easier and quicker.  Maybe I can just give it to the kids and they will wipe as they go?

20160310_142333

Sugar Bears-$6.00

I have one of these and I love it!  My brown sugar never gets hard and horrible.  They are also good for keeping baked goods moist or if you dry them totally you can use them to absorb moisture from things that need to be cripsy.

20160310_142719

Live For Tomorrow’s Elbow Grease-30mL $0.29

This is a concentrated cleaner that smells like Mr.Clean.  It doesn’t have the ratio for mixing it on this bottle which is a bit odd.  It says it is a coconut & citrus based formula and works great on kitchens and bathrooms.  I feel that I should use less toxic cleaners because of the kids but I never do so this will give me a chance to try one out.

20160310_142654

Earth Elements Farm Products Soothing Lip Service-$5.00

I haven’t received a lip balm in a while and getting a natural one made in British Columbia is a great way to get another.  This one is tangerine and handmade.  It has SPF and UV protection.  It doesn’t really have a scent but it does feel great on and I like it!

20160310_142629

Earth Elements Farm Products Soy Tealight-$3.50

It doesn’t say what scent this candle is but it smells great!  It also is in a glass holder, which is a surprise.  They also included a pack of matches because as their note says candles should only ever be lit with them.

I am very happy with this box.  This months has a value of $34.79, which I think is good.  There was a mix of all sorts of items for the home and with them all being Canadian it’s a bunch of good finds.  I have been on a mission to find more Canadian boxes since the exchange rate is so crappy right now and this was the first one to arrive.  I hope that the rest of the boxes from them are as good as this one.  If you want to sign up let me know and I can send you a link!
