Geek Fuel April 2017

Geek Fuel is a monthly mystery box that caters to the nerds, geeks, and gamers.  Every month they ship out a t-shirt, games, and collectibles.  There is a code for a downloadable game, exclusive gear, everyday items, and some neat collectibles.  This is actually a box that ships from the UK, so I have high hopes of fueling my Doctor Who and Sherlock obsessions.  Boxes start at $29.90 a month, shipping included.  I had held off on getting this one for a long time because that is higher than I like to spend on a box a month but then it showed up on Groupon so I jumped on it.  You got a welcome box plus three months of regular Geek Fuel boxes for $75.00.  The deal doesn’t seem to be on anymore but I would keep checking if you’re interested since they do get repeated occasionally.

There was not much I could see about this box for the first peek.  There might be cool things but I didn’t want to get my hopes up as this box hasn’t been all that great for me.

20170520_183509

They put a mini mag in the box each month.  It has articles, reviews, and some advertising for upcoming games.

They also have an info card that details all the items you will find inside your box, including any variations that might have been sent out.

Epic Enamels Power Edition Yellow Rover Pin

These pins have been in every box I’ve received from them and they are a waste for me.  I toss them right into the donation box in my house.  This month you could receive one of six possible colours, covering the Power Rangers.

Starward Rogue Downloadable Steam Game

The game this month is about wandering through catacombs looking for an AI named Rodney.  It says there are multiple levels of difficulty, dozens of bosses, and hundreds of items and rooms to play in.  I’ve downloaded the other games they’ve sent out and they are okay to play, I just don’t have the time.

20170520_183717

Guardians Of The Galaxy Limited Edition Print

I received the red version of this but there is also a rare green edition.  I love Guardians, so this is really a super thing for me to get.  I will need to find a frame for this but it can join all the other fan art that I’ve received in boxes.

Magical Elixer Potion Lamp

This is rather awesome!  It has a light in the base that changes colours and causes the potion container to vary in shade as it changes.  I love this and I will have to make space on a shelf for it somewhere. This is awesome!!!!

Inverse Univers Tee Shirt

OMG!!!!!! IT”S GROOT!!!!!!!  I love Groot. I love Groot no matter what size he is.  This shirt makes this box.  It has the outer image of Rocket riding on Groot, as it was in the first movie, and Groot riding Rocket, as it is in the current one.  So happy.

This is my last box of the Groupon I got and it is easily the best!  Three out of the five items are amazing.   I can say that I’m very glad I got this at a discount instead of buying it as a regular box.  The items are interesting but not really for me.  It is more geared to gamers I think.  I can say that after getting this box I would not renew it.

Geek Fuel March 2017

20170310_175836The box was pretty full this month.  I couldn’t see much beyond the magazine so there are hidden surprises everywhere.

20170310_175844

The Geek Fuel Magazine has articles that are about upcoming games, gift guides, and stories.

There is an info card that is separate from the magazine.  It tells you about the items you can expect to uncover.

Epic Enamels Pin Stranger Edition

I don’t watch Stranger Things so this is doubly a disappointment for me.  I don’t like the pins they include but at least if they were something I cared about it would be sorta okay.

20170310_180058

Archibald’s Adventure Downloadable Steam Game

I haven’t downloaded it yet but it looks like a fun game.  You are trapped in your professor’s mansion after an experiment goes wrong and you need to beat 190 levels to get out and save you both.

Hero in Training Poster Print

This is so cute!!!! It has a baby Batman playing with his toys!  There was a limited edition blue caped version too but I got the regular.  I think I’ll hang this in the girls’ room since they love superheroes.  It came with a Certificate of Authenticity as well.

Nuka-World Amusements Prize Giveaway Ticket

This ticket has a code on the back I can enter to see if I’ve won a prize.

8-Bit Sword Portable Charger

Can I say that I’m in love with this thing???  I have a portable charger but it’s plain and boring and not a Link sword.  It comes with a cable from USB to microUSB and that’s all.  I am so happy right now!

Nuka-World Amusements Women’s T-Shirt

Nuka-World is a location in Fall Out 4.  I know nothing about it but I like the shirt.  The colour and logo are great and I will wear this shirt.  I just have to hope no one asks me about it 🙂

I think I might be disappointed with this box.  This month is better than last, saved by the charge and poster.  I can say that I’m very glad I got this at a discount instead of buying it as a regular box.  The items are interesting but not really for me.  It is more geared to gamers I think.  I have one more boxes before my plan runs out so  I hope they get better!

Geek Fuel February 2017

This is my first actual box from them so I wasn’t too sure what type of things I would be getting.  First look gives me Carrie Fisher.  Considering her recent passing and the fact that she is a bit of a geek icon, it works.

GeekFuel Magazine Issue #24

It seems that they have their own magazine.  Inside are reviews and guides and thoughts about current geek topics.

They do have an info card.  It was buried at the bottom of the box but I found it in the end.  It tells you about the items you received and also lists the options if there was more than one possible item.

Epic Enamels Pin He-Bot Edition

These pins seem like they are in every box and I could just do without them.  This one is very cute and who doesn’t love He-Man, but I have no place to put them or reason to wear them.  You could have also received one of the limited edition Skele-Fuel.

Ninja Pizza Girl Downloadable Steam Game

I did try the caveman game from the last box and while it was okay, I didn’t stick with it.  I’m thinking this will be the same.  You need to deliver pizzas while battling bullies and your own self-esteem.

20170213_140216Qfig Collectable Figurine Green Arrow

This little guy is cute.  I have not seen this brand of figures before but they seem good.  You could have received 1 of 4 different ones.  I like that he’s all recliny and sassy.

Rupee Soap

These smell very strongly.  I have no clue what they smell like but each one is different.  They come in the treasure chest box and even though it is filled with formed foam, there is still slight damage on each one.  These will be used but since I have an abundance of soap right now it could be a while.

20170213_140520Rebel Droid Shirt

If you’ve read me for a while you know don’t do Star Wars.  I can’t even give this shirt to my husband because it’s a woman’s fitted.  I guess I’ll just have to fake it and wear this and hope no one asks about it.

20170213_140155There was also a Leia pin in the box.  It’s not on the card so it must be a bonus item.

I think I might be disappointed with this box.  I can say that I’m very glad I got this at a discount instead of buying it as a regular box.  The items are interesting but not really for me.  It is more geared to gamers I think.  I have two more boxes before my plan runs out so  I hope they get better!

Geek Fuel Welcome Box

Geek Fuel is a monthly mystery box that caters to the nerds, geeks, and gamers.  Every month they ship out a t-shirt, games, and collectables.  There is a code for a downloadable game, exclusive gear, everyday items, and some neat collectables.

This was the Welcome Box part of my deal.  They promised a value of $75, which is higher than the $50 that would be a normal box.   The first look seems promising so I’m excited to see what’s in there under what I can see.  There was not an info card but I’m thinking that is because this is not a regular box.

20170206_173626Dragon Egg Toothbrush Holder & Storage Kit-$15.99

This is  Game Of Thrones item.  It has two different top options so you can use it as a toothbrush holder or just a jar with a plain lid.  Having a glass holder in a house with two young children is not really a great plan so I think I’ll take this to work and use it to hold candy on my desk instead.

20170206_173710Luckslinger Downloadable Game & Lucky Wooden Dice

This game is a cross between a spaghetti western and hiphop.  You need to be a gunslinger and also lucky.  You can collect, steal, use, or win luck.  You somehow use the dice to help yourself along in the game.  I haven’t downloaded it yet but maybe when I have a holiday booked it’ll be fun to try for a while.

The Raven Poem Kit-$9.99

This is quite cool actually!  It opens up and has a copy of the poem in a book and a raven figurine that says “Nevermore”.  It’s small, only about 4″ x 3″ overall.

20170206_173759Caveman Craig Downloadable Game-$10.00

This has a code on the back to get you the game.  It is a strategy/RTS game where you have to contribute to the survival of your tribe.  You hunt, gather, and prepare as you try to survive.  This one seems more like one I’d play so it might get downloaded faster than the other one.

Pin

I’ll be honest, I have no clue what this is.  I can tell it’s a pin but what show or game it represents I don’t know.

Alien Playing Cards-$12.93

You can always use more playing cards in a house.  Surprisingly I enjoy the Alien movies.  This is a neat addition to the box.

20170206_173938Epic Enamels Temple Edition Pin-$7.99

This little guy is cute but pins are not really my thing.  The Indy theme is lovely, though.

These are two cards for Uncharted 4, which I’m guessing is an upcoming game.

20170206_174049X-Men Apocalypse T-Shirt-$20.00

This wouldn’t be my favourite shirt I’ve ever received but it’s nice to have been able to choose both the size and the style of shirt.

I’m pretty happy with this welcome box.  I’m not sure if it’s representative of what a regular box will be like but it had a good mix of things in it and it shows all the different types of things that may show up.
