Eternally In Amber March 2017

Eternally In Amber is a bi-monthly box that sends out hair accessories.  They promise the items to be both high quality and on trend.  They also have an online shop where you can grab items or add items into your box to save on shipping fees.  They have two box options, Basic, which has 2-3 items and Deluxe, which is 4-5.  They start at $15.00 a month and shipping for me was $4.00, which is really fair I think.  This is the first hair accessories boxes I have found and since I’m always looking for new things not only for myself but for Bug too I decided to give it a go.

The box always feels super light but there looks like there are a few fun things in there.

20170430_183026

There is a card included that tells you about why the items were chosen for the box and what items you will find in there.

Tortoise Shell Embellished Headband-$18.00

I don’t wear headbands all that often but this is a nice one that I can wear to work and have it not be too crazy.  It fits my head well and is not too tight, so it shouldn’t give me a headache after a few hours.

20170430_183124

Fushia Mosaic Bow Barrette-$10.00

I think this is so pretty! I am not sure if it matters which way I put this into my hair but it’ll just be put in as a decoration more than to actually hold my hair as it’s a little loose.

Limited Edition Clip Set-$?

I received this set in Pink Abstract but you could have also got Black/Gold Swirl.  These are brand new to their lineup and they sent them out to subscribers first.  I like both of them and both of them have very tight grips.  I like the pink flecks in these, it just makes them more fun and carefree.

Refreshing Hair Mist Sample-$?

This spray is made to add shine, moisture, and a delicate scent to your hair.  You once again could have received two different scents, Island Mist or Wild Rose.  I got the Wild Rose.  You need to shake it to blend it together and then just a good spray right onto your hair.

The box this time has a value of $28.00 plus the items I couldn’t value.  That is great for what you paid but I know that there is no way I would ever pay these prices for any of these items.  They are good quality and I will get lots of use from them.  I went with the Deluxe box and got the four items as promised this month.  I also had no issues with Customs this time.

The box is very light this month but inside it is wrapped up nicely and after my first peek, I still have no idea what’s inside.

The info card wasn’t taped to the lid this month and it’s made of thicker paper than before.  Inside of it is the same, though.  The left-hand side lets you know about why these items were chosen for the box and the right tells you what you actually got.

20170203_193644Misty Brown Geo Hair Clip Set-$8.00 and $7.00

These both have a snap clip on the bottom to hold them in your hair and they are tight.  I like these both and I think they will give me a nicer looking hold when I put up a small amount of my hair than when I use a ponytail holder.

20170203_193627White/Cream Swirl Mini Hair Claw-$7.00

This is a very cute little claw clip.  It will only hold a small amount of hair and will at least keep the front of my hair off my face when I wear it down.  I think I like this colour better than the ones on the barrettes above too.

20170203_193653Mahogany Granite Side Comb-$10.00

They say you can use this to create an easy updo but I seem to lack the skills required.  This is the second or third one of these they have sent me (in different colours) and I am at a loss as to how to use them and have them stay. I really want to use these and I hate that I’m too stupid.

The box this time has a value of $32.00.  That is great for what you paid but I know that there is no way I would ever pay these prices for any of these items.  They are good quality and I will get lots of use from them.  I went with the Deluxe box and got the four items as promised this month.  I also had no issues with Customs this time.

They send this out in such a cute little box.  Inside things are packed up and attached to the lid is a letter.

20161207_184956

The letter tells you all about this months selections and the choices that were made by Amber.

Tortoise Shell Hair Clip-$8.00 and Pastel Styling Hair Clip Set-$8.00

I’m not sure this round clip will hold my hair all that well since it’s so fine but it has a strong clasp and teeth on the bottom so maybe.  I like the colour and it’ll be a good neutral item for work.  The barrettes are nice and they will work to give added strength to up do’s.

Curved Pony Barrette-$12.00

I love this one!  It’ll hold all of my hair and will be less severe than a normal pony tail.  The colour of this one will work with almost anything as well.

20161207_185031

White/Cream Swirl Bauble Ponytail Holder-$8.00

This reminds me of the crazy ponytail holders of my youth.  You know the ones….that would snap back and break your fingers when you missed getting them latched?  This one just has the ball as a design on a regular holder but it’s solid so you could do some damage.

The box this time has a value of $36.00.  That is great for what you paid but I know that there is no way I would ever pay these prices for any of these items.  They are good quality and I will get lots of use from them.  I went with the Deluxe box and got the four items as promised this month.  I also had no issues with Customs this time.

20161007_131655

The box looked lovely upon opening it up.  I couldn’t see any actual hair items but I like the pretty Hello.

20161007_131713

They stick the info card and letter to the lid, which I think is genius.  This tells you about the theme, Modern Luxury, and why the items fit that.  It also lists the included items and whether or not they are included in the Deluxe or Standard box.

20161007_131810

Tortoise Shell Bun Cover-$16.00

I think this is beautiful.  It will work well in my hair and the stick feels really solid and not like it’ll fall out from just me doing my normal life.  There is also little teeth on the clip to hold it in place.

20161007_131744

Pinch Clip-$14.00

I am so happy this has a metal clip under the decorative top.  The plastic ones don’t work and I break them all the time.  This is nice and big too so it can hold even my waist length with no issues.

20161007_131757

Crystal Bobby Pin Set-$18.00

These are pretty and delicate.  The bobby pins themselves are bigger and tight so they don’t slip around.  I rarely wear just a bobby pin alone but I think I can work these in to hold little hairs when the rest is in a ponytail.

Greeting Card-Bonus

As I mentioned above I think this is a beautiful card.  It is blank inside and while it doesn’t scream Fall to me, I will send this off to a penpal and I think it’ll be appreciated.

The box this time has a value of $48.00.  That is great for what you paid but I know that there is no way I would ever pay these prices for any of these items.  They are good quality and I will get lots of use from them.  I went with the Deluxe box and got the four items as promised this month.  I also had no issues with Customs this time.

20160808_170639

They ship this one in a cute little box!  It is big enough for the items with out leaving a whole bunch of space for filler.

20160808_170719

They tape the info card to the top flap of the box.  The theme this month is Fall Necessities.

20160808_170828

Black Granite Hair Clamp-$12.00

I like this but I have no idea how to use it.  It has a comb part on the bottom and then a curved clamp on the top.  I guess maybe you slide it into your hair and bunch the rest in the clip?  It is pretty and big enough for all the hair I have, which is nice too.

20160808_170900

Black Shell Crystal Side Comb-$12.00

This comb has just the right amount of sparkle.  It is a big comb and has wide teeth so I’m hoping it will stay in my hair.  I know narrow teeth will but since my hair is fine these larger ones might slide out.

20160808_170840

Misty Brown Double Chignon Pic-$8.00

I’ve never used one of these before but it is supposed to hold in messy buns and top knots.  You just push it in and it should hold it in place.

20160808_170850

Purple Multi Oversized Hair Clip-$8.00

This is the largest barrette I have seen.  It makes a huge clunk when you snap it.  It should hold hair really well and might even be big enough to keep most of the top half of my hair back.

The box this time has a value of $40.00.  That is great for what you paid but I know that there is no way I would ever pay these prices for any of these items.  They are good quality and I will get lots of use from them.  I went with the Deluxe box and got the four items as promised this month.  I also had no issues with Customs this time.

20160603_142501

Everything shipped in a smaller box with the logo sticker on the front.  I got a bit of a shock when this was delivered.  They had put the total subscription value as the declared value and I got slammed by Customs for it.  After paying more in fees than the whole box cost I was not happy at all.

20160603_142514

Inside was a personalized note stuck to the lid and a bunch of tissue paper covering whatever was in there.

20160603_142536 20160603_142540

It was easier to take two pictures than to try to get the whole note at once.  On the left is a note from the owner letting everyone know that the theme this box is Forever Summer, and that it includes all you need to handle summer hair.  The right side lists the items included and their prices.  It also says everything in this month is box exclusive.

20160603_142601 20160603_142607

Pink Curved Banana Clip-$12.00

So when I think of a banana clip this is not even close to what I imagine.  This is a large barrette with a pink pearl finish.  I have lots of hair but it’s thin so it might all fit in here.  They recommend using this to make a pony tail but I don’t know how well it would stay without slipping.

20160603_142616

Silver & Gold Metallic Long Bobby Pin-$7.00 each

These I really like.  They are very big and very tight and hold my hair well.  You can’t really tell from the picture but they are metallic and shimmer in the light.  I don’t know that I would ever pay $7 for one of these but I guess that’s why this box is handy.

20160603_142629

Tortoise Shell Multi-Purpose Pocket Comb-$10.00

This combines a wide tooth comb, styling comb, and pick in one that you can toss in your bag and have handy to keep you looking great.  The only thing that makes me a little wary of this is that it is very bendy and I keep thinking it might break if I hit a snag and pull hard.  At the very least I can use this on Bug after baths when her long hair is knotty and I need to not pull too much.

Emergency Hair Accessory Kit-Bonus

This is a fun addition to the box.  If you have hair at all you know that finding an elastic or bobby pin when you need one is impossible.  There is both a blue and black tie and pin.

The box this time has a value of $36.00.  That is great for what you paid but I know that there is no way I would ever pay these prices for any of these items.  They are good quality and I will get lots of use from them.  I went with the Deluxe box so getting 3 items and a bonus is not what I expected.  I reached out to them after getting the Customs fee, just to make them aware that they need to be a little more accurate in labeling the forms.  I have received a response and they apologized for it and have offered me a store credit to use in the shop to make up for it, which is great.  There was a few days in getting that response but I can’t fault their customer service.
