Ecocentric Mom June 2015

Ecocentric mom subscription boxes focus on healthy, natural, organic products. You can choose from a pregnancy box, a mom box, or a mom and baby box. They ship every other month and are $24. I went with the mom and baby box to get a few things for me while getting stuff for the wee one that is maybe less full of bad things then what I might just buy off a store shelf. This is my last box from them as we have now aged out of their baby boxes.  I could continue with the mom box but I already get a different box that has similar products so I don’t feel that this one would bring me alone much joy.

20150616_091826

These boxes always come nicely wrapped and this month is no exception.

20150616_091837

Under the paper I could only see two bags of chips and nothing else so I was still curious.

20150616_091851 20150616_091858

The info card is double sided and along with the product info, pricing and websites, it gives you a few tips.  This month they are about being a radiant mom.

20150616_092049

Lillian Eve Nail Polish in Sweet Dreams-$12.00 Full Size

There were two colour options sent out, Sweet Dreams or Bliss.  The polish is vegan, cruelty-free and toxin-free.  My colour is a pale apricot or peach shade and I like it.  It goes on pretty sheer so you need a few coats to get total coverage but it’s a good shade for summer.

20150616_092032 20150616_092102

Bella Organics Vanilla Mint Deodorant Creme-0.25oz $3.99

I am becoming a bit of a convert to the natural deodorants.  They work great and have a much better smell then the conventional ones.  This one is very minty, it smells like Altoids taste, just that potent full on mint.  They also included a code for a discount off their website.

20150616_091945 20150616_092112

Meloria K Laundry Powder-2 Load Sample $2.99

This laundry soap is fragrance, dye and brightener free.  It’s good for use in regular and HE machines.  This sample actually will do 4 loads in an HE washer but as I only have the normal one, it’s just 2.  I have not really tried any non-commercial laundry soaps since I buy whatever is on sale or that I have a coupon for so this will be an interesting one.  The full sized canister is $15.99 for 64 loads so it’s not a whole lot more expensive then others but I’m guessing there would be shipping fees on top.

20150616_091908 20150616_091920

Simply 7 Hummus and Quinoa Chips-28oz & 23oz $1.00 each

Both chips are sea salt flavoured and appear to have a tortilla like texture.  I wasn’t feeling like chips as I’m writing this so I did not open them to try but I have yet to be disappointed in some of the alternative chip options I’ve received.  I like that I can feel marginally better about letting the girls have a couple of these instead of normal chips that are just bad for everyone.

20150616_091931

Goddess Garden Organics Sunscreen-oz $5.29

This is the forth or fifth sample of this brand of sunscreen I’ve received in the last little while.  While I would like a bit of variety, I’ve used a few up already and it works great on me and the kids.  They have a range of them for different applications and I think they are just as good as the chemical types.

20150616_092005(0)

Ecocentric Soap in Lemongrass-4oz bar $6.00

This soap smells so fresh.  I love handmade soaps like this and while I didn’t know they had their own brand of products I like that they included a full size bar to try it out.  They have two other scents, Oatmeal Spice and Lavender.

This months box had a value of $32.27, most of which is the nail polish. I think this was a good box full of things we’ll use but there was not a single thing in here for baby. This box was entirely for mom, which is okay if I had signed up for the mom box.  I’m not sure why this happened but as it’s my last box I am a bit sad there was no final baby fun.  I am now on the hunt for a toddler box and while there are a bunch that deliver to the US I’m hitting a bit of a wall getting anything here.  I’ll kepp looking but if you want to give these guys a try you can check them out by visiting www.ecocentricmom.com

Ecocentric Mom March 2015

Ecocentric mom subscription boxes focus on healthy, natural, organic products. You can choose from a pregnancy box, a mom box, or a mom and baby box. They ship every other month and are $24. I went with the mom and baby box to get a few things for me while getting stuff for the wee one that is maybe less full of bad things then what I might just buy off a store shelf. With only one more box to go after this one before we age out of this box, I’ve been waiting for this one to arrive impatiently.

20150325_181414 20150325_181432

This box looks nice when you open it and is usually packed pretty full under that paper.

20150325_181442 20150325_181449

The info card is filled up.  There are tips on the left of both sides and the rest is a bit about each product, the price, and the website if you want to buy more.

20150325_181621

Pure by She She Baby Wash & Shampoo-2oz. $2.99

This is a 100% Natural and Organic wash.  It is Sweet Orange scented and made to be gentle and safe for your baby.  It is not tear free but since to make any baby washes tear free they simply add chemicals to numb the stinging I wouldn’t expect in in something like this.  This will make a nice change from our regular baby shampoo and let Bear smell a little different for a few days.  They also included a 15% off code for their website.

20150325_181517

Baby Bits Wipes Solution-3pk $0.83

You dissolve one of these cubes into a cup a hot water.  Once it’s dissolved, you have it in a spray bottle and just spritz a dry cloth to use as a baby wipe instead of the disposable ones. These are 100% vegetarian and all natural.  They are also vegan.  I really like this idea but I’m not sure how convenient it would be, instead if just grabbing some from the tub.

20150325_181703

Bright Baby Touch and Feel Easter Book-$4.95

We love books in this house!  I know this review is after Easter but we did get this box way before so this was perfect. We have a few of the Bright Baby books and they are good for little ones.  Bug likes them too because she memorizes them after a couple of reads and then can read them herself.

20150325_181610

Camilla Teething Relief-5 Doses $2.17

We have used this and it’s sister product for colds and while I don’t know that it works fantastic but it seems to give some relief.  Bear only has eight teeth so we still might have some teething issues ahead.  There was a $1.00 off any Camilla box printed on the back of this cardboard as well.

20150325_181549

Goddess Green Organics Sunscreen-6mLx3 $0.88 each

Well it snowed here again today so still not really needing sunscreen yet but since I usually slather up the kids, more is always better.  This assortment includes Sunny Baby, Sunny Kids, and Sunny face, all with SPF30.  They are water resistant and contain organic ingredients.  I received a tube sample of Sunny Kids in a different box a few months ago so we will get a week maybe between them.  I like that these have no harsh chemicals in them.  I am always a little wary of putting sunscreen on the babies since I don’t know that there has been a lot of research done into how these things affect little ones.  The big push to use sunscreen all the time has only been around for a few year.

20150325_181637

Bear’s Beauty Vegan Natural Deodorant-0.75oz $6.00

This is Grapefruit & Lavender and smells fantastic!  It’s a little less then half sized so a pretty good sample.  I have been really surprised and happy with the natural deodorants I have received though the boxes and if they were more convenient for me to buy I would be.  This is the first natural deodorant that I’ve received in a stick form though.  As you can guess baking soda is the absorbent ingredient but there is also a couple of different clays as well.

20150325_181653

Country Choice Organic Steel Cut Oatmeal-1 packet $0.54

I like the convenience of the instant oatmeals.   This is Maple Spice with Raisins and any with fruit additions are always a hit here.  The big difference between this one and the Quaker ones from the store is that this is made up of a blend of oats, rye, barley and wheat.  They are low calorie and certified organic.

20150325_181716

Brigit True Organics Peppermint Lip Balm-$5.00 Full Size

This lip balm is made from 99.5% organic ingredients.  It is also gluten, nut and soy free.  This is a women owned company which I also like to support.  This is beeswax based and glides on super smoothly.  There is just a hint of the peppermint tingle but you can sure smell it.  Lip balms are all over my house and work and in my bags so I’m glad to get them every time.

20150325_181528

EcoTrek Fitness Whole Food Bars-$2.50

I haven’t tried this yet but it contains 6! servings of fruit and vegetables.  It has no refined sugars or artificial sweeteners.  They are vegan an dairy-free too.  This one is Dark Chocolate Raspberry flavoured.  It is a soft bar not hard like a granola bar though there is oats in it.  I’m wary but think it’ll be good.

20150325_181750

Eco Eggs Easter Eggs-$0.42

I thought this was the chocolate inside but they are actually promoting the egg!  They are fully compostable instead of plain old forever plastic.  I’ll still be buying the dollar store ones personally but I’m happy for the chocolate.

20150325_181727

I got a bonus item this month!  It’s a reusable food pouch.  We don’t use these but maybe I can make it into a travel water bottle?  It has a $2.00 value.

This months box had a value of $25.05.  That is about what you pay for the box.  I think we will be using almost all of it though so I’m happy. I like that it has a mix of all types of products.  You can check them out by visiting www.ecocentricmom.com

Ecocentric Mom January 2015 Mom and Baby Box

Ecocentric mom subscription boxes focus on healthy, natural, organic products. You can choose from a pregnancy box, a mom box, or a mom and baby box. They ship every other month and are $24. I went with the mom and baby box to get a few things for me while getting stuff for the wee one that is maybe less full of bad things then what I might just buy off a store shelf. With only two more boxes to go after this one before we age out of this box, I’ve been waiting for this one to arrive impatiently.

20150206_124926

This one is so pretty once you open the lid.

20150206_124942

Under that paper was a full box!  Sigh….no info card in this one either…..the packers of my boxes must have been conspiring against me this month.

20150206_125007

Snack Out Load Foods Crunchy Beam Snack in Tomato Basil

My first thought upon seeing these was eww.  After I remembered I’m an adult and shouldn’t be so picky right off the bat I read the package and these might actually be good.  They are also high in protein, which is something my new eating plan is big on so I’ll have to have these as a snack sometime soon.

20150206_125022

Botanic Bath Infusion Rose Retreat Bath Salts

This is the mom part of the box and they smell great.  It’s another item I will have to use after I can bath again.  Only  a week and a half left in my ban.

20150206_125032

Organic Flavrs Topical Peach Drink Mix

I use water flavors all the time to help me drink more water then I would if it was plain.  I have never tried this brand but  I’m excited to because I haven’t found a peach flavored one around.

20150206_125044

KeriCure Natural Seal Skin Protectant

Bug is so clumsy (she takes after me) that this will be so handy once the snow goes away and we can run around outside again.  This mimics your own skin to provide a coating over boo-boos to keep germs out. There was also a coupon for $1.50 off (you’ll see it in the last picture).

20150206_125057 20150206_125138

Mama Loves Me Book

Bear is just starting to enjoy books and I’m sure Bug will just steal this anyways but we never turn down a book in this house.  I am a voracious reader and am doing my best to raise a couple more.  The cool part of this book is that the trunk goes through all the pages.  It’s a story about what mom does for her baby and the baby’s favorite things.

20150206_125152

Amara Organic Dries Baby Food Apple Flavor

Bear is not a fan of baby food.  She never wanted any that I made for her and would just rather eat whatever everyone else is eating.  I’ve read that other people throw stuff like this into their smoothies so maybe I’l give that a try to use it up.

20150206_125251

BumBoosa Bamboo Baby Wipes 2 sample packs

These are an all natural bum wipe.  Since I normally just go with whatever I have a coupon for or the jumbo box from Costco these will be a change.  However 2 wipes is not even enough for one poop cleanup so that’s a bit disappointing.

20150206_125304

Kelapo Extra Virgin Coconut Oil 2 Sample Packets

I keep hearing about coconut oil and the amazingness of it but I have never used it for anything.  I’ll have to see what I can cook with this.

20150206_125355 20150206_125427

eInvite.com Note Cards

This is a little booklet with a bunch of different designed flat note cards.  I think it’s cute and the cards are made out of nice thick stock.

20150206_125540

This was all the paper at the bottom of my box.  I had hopes that one of these was an info card but alas…..

There was a pamphlet on the wipes, an advertisement for reusable food pouches, the coupon, a discount code for Pura Botanicals, and a discount code for O & N Collective.

I think this was a good box.  There was lots of stuff to try and a good mix of food and nonfood products.  I’m going to try to use all of the stuff even if I have to improvise on a few items.  You can check them out by visiting http://www.ecocentricmom.com

Ecocentric Mom November 2014 & Advent Calendar Day 2

Ecocentric mom subscription boxes focus on healthy, natural, organic products. You can choose from a pregnancy box, a mom box, or a mom and baby box. They ship every other month and are $24. I went with the mom and baby box to get a few things for me while getting stuff for the wee one that is maybe less full of bad things then what I might just buy off a store shelf. I was a bit confused as to which box I had received last time but have since figured out that they sent me the September box just so I wouldn’t have to wait so long to get my first box and this is the November box.

20141201_140349 20141201_140421

First looks. The papers on the lid were on top of everything else but I needed to see!!

20141201_140438 20141201_140448

Double sided info card.  There are always lots of brands of stuff in this box.

20141201_140556

Wee Can Too Veggie Crayons 5 pack-$12.00

Bear is at the stage where everything is tasted so we have had a few incidents already with her having a colourful mouth from eating a crayon.  The fact that these are safe to eat, though not recommended, is really cool. They are also square for ease of baby to hold and use.

20141201_14050720141201_140735

Circle of Friends Shampoo & Body Wash-8oz $14.40 Full Size

This is made for Eczema & Sensitive Skin and Bug qualifies as needing that.  They also included the Circle of Friends catalog.  The other products available are supposed to spark interest in other cultures from around the world. This is getting used tonight!

20141201_140651

NurturMe Dried Baby Food Peas, Quinoa, and Apple Flavour-22.5g $1.12

This is a organic cereal mix.  You can make it with water or breast milk for babies of just mix it in to regular food for older kids.  This is all plant based which is supposed to be easier to digest for little tummies and the quinoa is closer in nutritional profile to breast milk which makes the change over easier too.  Bear is doing more of a baby led weaning but we’ll give this a try mixed into a sauce of some type.

20141201_140631

Sweetie Pie Organics Dried Baby Snack in Mango, Sweet Corn & Apple-$1.71

A bag of these treats has one serving of fruit and veggies in it.  Bug is pretty good about eating fruit but this will be convenient to take along for an emergency snack.

20141201_140849

eInvite Holiday Cards-$5.00 or so

These are a sampling of a few of the different styles of holiday cards you can order from them.  I think it’s neat that you just stick a photo on and make the card.  They also included the envelopes and a coupon to get 20% off an order. The cards are printed on good card stock. Unfortunately they had to bend them a bit to fit in the box so a few people are going to be getting slightly curled Xmas cards from us this year.

20141201_140642

Soothie Suckers Herbal Pops-2 pops $2.50

These are freezies that have a custom herbal blend in them.  The orange one is an immunity booster and the grape is nasal support.  These seem a bit hippy for me but they are endorsed by the president of the American Herbalists Guild so they should be fine(though his picture doesn’t dispel any stereotypes, see here).  I’ll throw them in the freezer till we need a cool treat.

20141201_140617

Lovely Candy Company Caramels-56g $4.99

Yummy!! Soft caramels. I’m not planning to share these with the kids.  If they become a new obsession they are available at Target.

20141201_140712

Hero Nutritionals Slice of Life Omega 3 with Chia-2 chews $0.64

I like gummy vitamins.  It is better then the chalky chewables.  These also came with a coupon to get $2.00 off kids or adults vitamins.  These are allergen, dairy, gluten and mercury free and vegetarian to boot.

I think I like this months box better then the last one.  Everything is stuff I’ve never tried, which is the point of getting these boxes, and I want to try these products.  The box has a value of $42.36 or almost double what I paid which is nice.  I have never really searched out organic or natural products but I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste of what I’ve had so far.  This box is only good for kids up to 18 months so we have a few more to go.  You can see what they’re about here.

Now on to the advent calendars! I was so excited to rip into them yesterday that I never noticed that there are little sayings on the inside of the flaps.  I’ll now include those as well as pictures.

From the Benefit one.

20141202_083719

Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in A-Lister wished me Peace, love and glossiness!

From the Body Shop one.

20141202_083744

Nail File. It let me know “Good things take time-be patient”. Really???? You give me a nail file and then you taunt me?? Silly calendar.

So Benefit was the definitely the winner today, lip gloss is one of my favorite things!

Only 22 more days till Christmas!

Ecocentric Mom-Mom & Baby Box October 2014

Ecocentric mom subscription boxes focus on healthy, natural, organic products. You can choose from a pregnancy box, a mom box, or a mom and baby box. They ship every other month and are $24. I went with the mom and baby box to get a few things for me while getting stuff for the wee one that is maybe less full of bad things then what I might just buy off a store shelf. Their site says they ship in September and November so I’m not sure which box I received so we’re going with October for simplicity sake.

20141021_124919 20141021_124930

Nicely wrapped upon opening and double sided info card listing all the products and codes for discounts off of purchases on each site.

20141021_124945

Inside the wrapping.

20141021_125033

Beautiful Earth Bath & Massage Oil-Full Size $9.50

I really thought this was a sample size but after going to the website this is the actual size bottle they sell. This can either be used to give baby a soothing massage or you can squirt some into the tub. It contains Chamomile & Lavender, both of which encourage sleep so this will definitely be a before bed time product.

20141021_125306

The Organic Face Lipstick in Sweet Nectar-Full Size $17.99?

You could have received either a lipstick or a lipgloss in this box and I’m thinking I would have rather had the gloss.  When I went to the website the lipsticks they have there are in a completely different package and I also could not find this color so I don’t know if this was made specially for ecocentric mom or what. The color is ok but the lipstick doesn’t go on very easily so I had to press a bit and the lipstick bent in the tube. While I will use this I am not too impressed.

20141021_125045

WooBamboo Kid’s “Sprout” Toothbrush 2-Pack-$5.95

These are really cool. They are an eco-friendly brush which is nice since we go through a lot of kids brushes as we are learning.

20141021_125224 - Copy

Annie’s Organic Cheddar Snack Mix Bunnies- 28g

I could not get a price on these because the website said it didn’t ship to Canada so it would not show me any products. They did give me a .50 off coupon to use but as these are not in stores here it’s useless but I think these will pass the snack test for the preschooler. They are baked cheddar crackers, pretzels, and plain crackers seasoned with cheese.  As a fish cracker substitute I think it’ll be okay.

20141021_125215 - Copy

Bakery On Main Instant Oatmeal Maple Multigrain Muffin Flavour-50g $1.00

This is a gluten free, dairy & casein free, non GMO oatmeal. Thankfully we have no food issues to worry about here but hopefully this will taste good.

20141021_125141

7th Heaven Natural Skin Mask Million Year Mud Revitalizing Mask- Full Size $2.99

Face masks are fun.

20141021_125204

Grandma El’s Diaper Rash Remedy & Prevention-2 sample packs

We seems to have an issue with diaper rash based on when we eat certain foods so any new product to help is appreciated.

20141021_125105

Jillian Wright “Breakout Blocker” Serum- 3mL sample

20141021_125246

Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin- $8.99

Yay!!! We love books here and while this is aimed at the baby the preschooler has already snagged it. It’s a nice inclusion to encourage spending time together.

Beyond a useless coupon and a few sample packets this was a good box of stuff. I like the baby products and the fact that there is some stuff for the older one is nice too. The few mom products were ok. I am not super thrilled with the lipstick but I will use it and while I wish the other samples were larger I really can’t complain because trying new things is fun.
