Earth Wax & Fire October 2017

Earth Wax and Fire is an Israeli subscription that sends out an artisanal candle and a matching ceramic bowl.  You can get a month-to-month plan, or go for a 3,6, or12-month plan.  Plans start at $27.00 a month but go down with the longer ones.  Shipping to here was an additional $11.00 a month.  This normally would be above my comfort price but I signed up on Mother’s Day weekend and they had a 50% code for a 6-month plan.  That definitely made the decision easier.  I have a candle burning every evening so I am on the lookout for them always.  The pictures they have on their site were beautiful so I have hopes for this box.

The box was much bigger this month than it has been.  Inside it was still as beautifully and carefully packed as it always has been.  They take so much care in their presentation and it makes you feel very special to receive it.

There are four cards this month and a couple of them are double-sided.  The first one tells you about the combo you received, one is about the bowl, one is about the candle, and one details massage techniques.  I realize that with the images small the one picture looks dirty but if you enlarge it then you can see it’s really not!

Massage Combo #1 Back to the Sea contains a handmade ceramic Sea Glass bowl, a white flower floating candle, and a bottle of sweet almond massage oil, with a stopper.  The bowl design is inspired by the sea glass that can be found and has been crafted to look like that while being fully usable.  I have all the other ones as dishes for things on my dresser.  The candle is beautifully scented with a blend of florals.  It is amazing!  I’m happy to have received the massage oil but now I need to convince Hubs to put it to use.  Maybe the fact that there are instructions on how to give a relaxing massage will be the push he needs.

I am so impressed with this box.  The level of detail provided and the care in selecting and packing it is first class.  They have reached out a few times to see what my choices would be and been polite and friendly each time.  I know this is a slightly higher priced subscription when it’s not on sale but I honestly believe it would be worth it.  You can currently save 10% off a plan using the code SAVE10 at checkout.

This box showed up all safe and sound again this month.  They very carefully pack it on the inside and they wrap the whole box in butcher paper and packing tape.  It takes me so long to get into the box but it’s been worth it so far each time.

They include a collection of cards that tell you about the candle, the extras, the holder, and a Thank You from the curator.

Handmade Ceramic Bowl

This bowl is a speckled grey clay with blue glaze.  It is kiln fired and dishwasher safe.  You can use it afterwards to hold pretty much anything you want.  It is safe for condiments or non-food items as well.

The candle this time is a floating one in a Touch Of Musk scent.  It is a smell that I really like and kinda wish that it was a lotion or perfume.  It is in a rose pattern and while I probably won’t float it to use I will burn this.

This is a Hamsa.  It is a symbol used to protect against the evil eye.

The box once again came all the way from Isreal safely.

They include cards that talk about what is in the box, other boxes you can order, and a personal note.  It’s a great touch and they give all the details on the items.

The candle this month is rose quartz in colour and smells like lavender.  It is very nice and they do remind you to remove the ribbon before you burn anything.  Lavender is one of my favourite smells and this makes me happy.

The bowl this time is a Handmade Ceramic White Lace Bowl.  I think this might be my favourite one from them yet.  It is so pretty!  LIke the others, it is glazed and can be used for many things once it’s done being a candle dish.

The little extras are a bag of treasures from the coast of Isreal near Apolonia.  There are shells, stones, and sea glass all mixed together.  I love the sea glass and it makes a nice addition to the rest of the items here.

Once again this box showed up carefully wrapped and packed so that none of the highly fragile items inside shift and break.

They wrap the candle in its own little package and all the other items come in the little bag.  They also have little cards that tell you about each of the items included, a code to get a discount on previous combos, and a handwritten note that hopes I like the items this month.

Velvet Crystal Soap Rolls

These say they are made specifically for scenting drawers and cupboards.  I”m sure you can use them as soap as well if you wanted to.  They are scented with amber crystal and ISO-E-SUPER, whatever that is.  It is a nice smell and I think it would give anything you stored in the drawer with it.  They are handmade by people in a rehabilitative hospital in Isreal.

Handmade Ceramic Greenery Bowl

This shade of green is based on the Color Of The Year by Pantone.  The glaze is applied over speckled mustard clay and kiln fired to become dishwasher safe.  You can burn the candle on it and then use the bowl for pretty much anything afterward and it is safe to use with food items like condiments or spices.

Spring Peach Delight Candle

I really like the candles I have received from this box.  They are well made and highly scented.  This one has the essence of peach, rose, jasmine, and French patchouli.  It smells great and sexy, actually.  It is not overpoweringly peach at all, even though they have named the candle after it.  This candle has about a 40 hour burn time.

The box is the same as last month.  It came fully wrapped in butcher paper and taped all up for the shipping and then inside was this one.

20170623_181130

Things are packed nicely inside as well.  There is not much room for movement and so everything stays safe.

Once you get it all out you can see there are four packages and some cards.  The cards have a note from the owner, a coupon, and information about the items on them.  I think it’s a great method and really enjoy learning about the items individually.  The title of this months combo is Love And Flowers.

Handmade Ceramic “Ahava” Bowl

It’s a little hard to see in the picture but there is an inscription in the bottom of the bowl.  It is the Hebrew word for love.  It is dishwasher safe if you wanted to use it for small foods or sauces after it does its job as a candle holder.

“Desire Lips” Floating Flower Candle

This candle smells beautiful.  It is a blend of rose, jasmine, and patchouli.  It has a burn time of five hours and can be a floating candle if you want it to be.

The other items this month to round out the box are Flowers of Israel card game and Artisanal Flower Stickers.  I hope the card game has some English instructions or this will just be a pretty bunch of flower pictures to look at.

The box arrived well wrapped.  Inside of the outer wrapping and mailing information was this branded box.  Inside that were more presents.  For my first box, they send me an email with a bunch of options of past boxes that I could choose from so that they could ship me out something quickly.  All of the options looked amazing and I don’t think it would have mattered which one I chose, though I went with Ancient Sea Glass.

20170530_194727

They threw in a personal note expressing that they hoped I enjoy what I’ve received.

20170530_194714

There are info cards for each of the items that are in the box.  This is a very professional way of getting a lot of information across about each thing and looks great.

20170530_194746

These are the two packages that were inside the box.  At this point, I could smell the most amazing scent coming from these.  They have done a beautiful job in making this box special.

Spring “Flower Of The Alps” Candle

This candle smells amazing!!!!!  It was handmade by a shop called Spring Perfume House in Israel.  It is a blend of hyacinth blossoms, cedarwood, bergamot and clary sage.  You would think with all that it would be girly and floral but it is not in any way.  It reminds me of a good men’s cologne actually.  This candle has a 40 hour burn time.

Handmade Ceramic “Sea Glass” Bowl & Byzantine Sea Glass

This bowl is made by Vered of VIBceramics.  It is dishwasher safe and food safe.  They want you to use it as a candle holder for the candle and then give you a list of other possible uses once that is done.  The little rocks are actually 800-year-old pieces of glass produced during the Byzantine period and then shaped and polished by the sea until they were found again.  I know they are small but it gives me great pleasure to hold something that old, made by another human, in my hand.
