e.l.f. Summer Break Beauty Bundle 2015

e.l.f. Beauty Bundle is a makeup box that ships every 8 weeks.  They ship out a variety of makeup and brushes from their own lines.  They have an assortment of products based on a central theme for that box.  This months bundle theme was the Refreshing New Year Bundle. The box starts at $19.99 every other month and promises to ship at least double that in the value of products.  It ships in a black box with their logo on it and looks good. All products are full sized as well. This one comes in a branded box with a drawstring bag inside with all your goodies.

20150818_140348 20150818_140357

This is how this box comes.  All packed up in pink and black looking sexy.  There was no info card but it does have a packing slip so you know what you got.

20150818_140704

Shine Eraser Oil Blotting Sheets-$1.00

I keep a pack of these in my purse all the time so getting some more is fine by me.  This is a pack of 50 and also have green tea extract to help your skin as you blot.

20150818_140623

Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black-2.00

This has a tip like liquid liner but is more of a marker in application.  I struggle woth liquid liners but think I could manage this one.  Once it dried it was completely smudge proof, even rubbing didn’t move it.  I could learn to like this one!

20150818_140721

Smudge Pot in Gotta Glow-$2.00

They say this can be a shadow or a liner but I just use them as eyeshadow.  This one is gold coloured and has a ton of shimmer.  Once you blend it in though all you really get is the shine with just a touch of colour behind it.

20150818_140637

Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Tiki Torches-$2.00

Okay so this might become my new favorite lip product.  It is a barely there orange with gold shimmer and I love it.  It also has vitamin E and grape to keep your lips soft.  I keep rubbing my lips together and it’s nice.  I would buy more of these in multiple colours.

20150818_140841

Pressed Mineral Bronzer in Baked Peach-$5.00

I’m not really sure how this is a bronzer.  It has no real undertones of bronze or tan.  It’s also a little light to even be a blush.  It goes on looking almost white.  I’ll have to play with it a bit to see how I can make it work.

20150818_140534

Waterproof Mascara Top Coat in Clear-$3.00

This is a clear mascara that you put on top of your regular mascara to make it waterproof.  That’s a neat idea and while I almost never wear waterproof mascara, swimming lesson are starting again soon and this will be useful to toss on after work before hitting the pool so I don’t have to worry about looking like Alice Cooper halfway through.

20150818_140446

Eye Refresh in Clear-$3.00

Ooooooooohhhhh……this feels nice………It rolls on your undereye area cool and is supposed to help with puffiness and dark circles.  You can use it over or under makeup anytime of the day you want to.  It contains pomegranate, rosemary, green tea, cucumber and grape.  This is a keeper.

20150818_140753

Matte Lip Color in Natural-$3.00

This is just a shade or two lighter then my natural lip colour so it is not a perfect match, however it looks good on.  For a matte  lip product it does not feel dry and I can even rub my lips together a few minutes afterwards with no friction.  I like their lip products a lot and this one is a great addition to my collection.

20150818_140945

SPF20 Sunscreen Face Primer in Clear-$6.00

I’m currently using e.l.f. primer and now to have one that has SPF in it just makes it more awesome.  It has that sunscreen smell to it, which I think is great.  I’m so happy with this.

20150818_140651

Makeup Remover Pen-$3.00

This is made to get rid of smudges or smears not your whole face of makeup.  I tried it out on that liner from above and just a couple of swipes and it was gone.  This will be great for those times when you blink at the wrong time or sneeze while holding a makeup item.

20150818_141026

48 Piece Little Black Beauty Book Warm Edition-$6.00

This eyeshadow palette has a good mix of light, dark and shimmer shades.  It’s still a bit big to just have out even though it folds in half to actually look like a book.  The shades are ones that I would wear and that match the profile survey I filled out at the beginning of my subscription.

20150818_140552

Makeup Lock & Seal-$3.00

This is used to increase the intensity of your makeup.  You pour a bit into the little pot and then dip the brush into it and them into your makeup before applying  You need to let it dry but once dry it holds your makeup in place longer than normal.  This seems like a great thing for special occasions where you need to look good for a while.

This month they fell short of their promised $40 value by $1.00.  This months box was really well put together and everything works well with each other.  This was my last box from them and all of them have been good..  There has been a great mix of items and brushes and facial products.  As I’ve mentioned before the shipping to Canada is really high, almost equal to the box price so that is a bit of a downer.  The shipping is actually the main reason I won’t be subscribing again.  I have been very happy with the products and will be buying them from stores if I need something.

e.l.f In Bloom Beauty Bundle 2015

e.l.f. Beauty Bundle is a makeup box that ships every 8 weeks.  They ship out a variety of makeup and brushes from their own lines.  They have an assortment of products based on a central theme for that box.  This months bundle theme was the Refreshing New Year Bundle. All products are full sized as well. This one comes in a branded box with a drawstring bag inside with all your goodies.

20150609_160852

This is the bag inside the outer shipping box.  For the last two bundles there has not been an info card, just a packing list.

20150609_160913

Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal-$1.00

This is a cream highlighter for anywhere you want a shimmer.  It’s pretty heavy coverage so there is a ton of shimmer where I applied it.  I have more highlighters now then I will probably use but maybe someday I’ll start to wear them all the time.

20150609_161345

Nail Polish in Mint Cream-$2.00

I like their nail polishes since they are inexpensive and they have great fun colours.  I have never had any issues with their polish and since my nails are not super long or strong I never worry if I get chips or the polish wears off because I have a daughter who wants her nails done all the time.

20150609_161356

Volumizing & Defining Mascara in Jet Black-$2.00

Well it’s been a few boxes since I have received any mascara so my stash was down to 8 tubes.  Most ones I get are not full sized so you can go though them really fast.  This one is full sized and black, which is the only colour I wear.

20150609_161231

Soothing Serum-$12.00

This serum is for morning and night and promises to lock in moisture to reduce fine lines and give you glowing skin.  It has jojoba, aloe and vitamin E plus shea butter.  It’s a bit thinner of a formula them some serums I’ve tried but absorbed quickly and dried fast so there is not a lag before you can apply your moisturizer.

20150609_161305

Mineral Lipstick in Ripe Rose-$5.00

I love that they send out mineral makeup as well as regular makeup.  Their mineral like is really reasonably priced and it’s just as good as some of the way more expensive ones I’ve tried.  I has thought I was not going to like this colour but it goes on me really nicely.  It is just a bit darker then my bare lip once it’s on and I think it’s great.

20150609_161116

Eyeliner & Shadow Stick in Plum/Purple-$3.00

I like this idea of having both shadow and liner in one pencil.  The shadow for sure needs to be applied and then blended out, because it is almost liner like in texture but the purple does blend out to a soft wearable tone.  The liner has a great fine point and is not too smudgable.

20150609_161016

Glossy Gloss in Berry Blush-$3.00

This is another one I thought I was going to hate based on the colour in the tube but really like once it’s on.  It is not crazy shiny, has a low stickiness factor and has a brush applicator.  It is a pink tone but not purple or red tinged at all. Yay!

20150609_161152

Blending Brush-$3.00

This is your standard eyeshadow brush.  It goes with the eyeshadow palette that was also sent this month.  They tend to match brushes up with at least one product that you get.

20150609_160932

Daily Brush Cleaner-$3.00

I’m guilty of pretty much never washing my brushes.  This spray is anti-bacterial and disinfects the bristles of your brushes between actual washings.  I might use this but probably not daily.  Maybe after my girls have played with my makeup brushes.

20150609_161449

32 Piece Eyeshadow Palette in Everyday-$6.00

I haven’t used a big palette like this in years.  Since I do my makeup in the bathroom and we have a small vanity I don’t have room to keep a big item like this in there.  I think the colours are nice and if I can remember to pull this out it will get used.

Once again they hit the $40.00 promised value on the nose.  For me this month the cleaner is not so great but I ended up being really happy with the makeup colours and products included.  I only have one box from them left and while I will not be renewing my subscription I have been really pleased with it.  There has been a great mix of items and brushes and facial products.  As I’ve mentioned before the shipping to Canada is really high, almost equal to the box price so that is a bit of a downer.

e.l.f. Refreshing New Year Beauty Bundle 2015

I accidently canceled my plan last month and then sent them an email asking where my box was. Thankfully their customer service was excellent as usual and they got me sorted out and my box shipped out to me. This one comes in a branded box with a drawstring bag inside with all your goodies.

20150417_200750

Nourishing Cuticle Pen-$1.00

This seems so much easier then the cuticle gels I’ve tried.  This has a tip similar to a felt marker on it and you just rub it on your nails and cuticles as often as you need.  It’s filled with vitamins and aloe for hydration.  I will be adding this to my home manicure procedure for sure, since my cuticles always look ragged.

20150417_201050 20150417_201109

Silver Dump-$8.00

If I was them I think I’d have found another name for this……just saying.  Once you get past the name this is actually a pretty nice little bag.  It’s made of vinyl, has a huge zipper opening and is lined on the inside.  There is also inside,  a little zipper pocket and a non-zippered pocket on opposite sides.  I’ve got lots of bags from some other subscriptions that ship in them but this is for sure the biggest one I’ve received, which gives it more possibilities for use.

20150417_200820

Lip Balm Tint in Peach-$2.00

This lip balm smells nice.  it has coconut, grape and shea butter in it making it super softening.  It gives just a bit of colour and I like that they sent peach instead of a pink.  This is a much better neutral shade that works for everyone.

20150417_200216

Pressed Mineral Blush in Sweet Retreat-$5.00

I absolutely love that they always include some mineral makeup in their bundles.  This blush is a total win for me.  They have you fill out a survey when you join to get what colours work for you but they have sent me some other blush that has just been too dark.  This one is perfect for everyday and I am stoked to use this.

20150417_200606

Hydrating Under Eye Primer in Clear-$3.00

I’ve never heard of a primer just for under eyes.  This one not only stops your concealer from shifting and settling, it also reduces the appearance of fine lines, puffiness and wrinkles.  I don’t really need this since I am lucky enough to not have dark circles under my eyes that need concealer but I will maybe bring it out for special occasions where I do the full face treatment with my makeup.

20150417_200351

Baked Eyeshadow in Enchanted-$3.00

This shadow is super shimmery but not very dark when used as is.  I am going through a glittery stage right now so this is perfect for me.  It’s almost like it’s just glitter with no colour on me and I may use it for shine on more then my eyes.

20150417_200501

Hydrating Face Primer-$6.00

What I really like about e.l.f. is that it is so affordable.  There is no other company selling face primer for $6.00 and the quality is just as good as some more expensive options.  Primer has become my new must have item since I started getting it in boxes and I go through it fast since I use it everyday.  Happy!

20150417_200902

Angled Blush Brush-$3.00

I think that by the time I’m done with this subscription I will own every brush they offer.  It does save me from having to wash my brushes though since I can just toss them and use a new one.  Nice that I got blush and a brush in the same order. Someone was thinking.

20150417_200852

Flawless Concealer Brush-$3.00

This one will go with the under eye primer perfectly.  I normally use my finger to apply concealer even though I know you’re not supposed to.  Maybe I can break that habit with this brush.

20150417_200841

Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths-$3.00

These things are so handy!  I like that I can almost silently clean my face when I have to go to work before the little ones are up.  This pack has 20 cloths and is good for sensitive skin as well.

20150417_200734

Lip Gloss Wands-$3.00

I’m not sure that I’ll ever use these for what they are intended.  I don’t share lip products with anyone and I don’t so anyone elses makeup so these might become painting wands for the kids.  One useless item in the whole box is pretty good though.

This months offering was my favorite so far.  The products all really matched the theme and all were colours I can pull off with no issues.  The value this month was $40, exactly as promised.  As I mentioned above my customer service experience was excellent and I was helped out even though I was at fault.  The only issue I have with this box is that shipping to Canada is really high so while I do come out ahead it’s not by much.

e.l.f Beauty Bundle New Year Bundle 2015

e.l.f. Beauty Bundle is a makeup box that ships every 8 weeks.  They ship out a variety of makeup and brushes from their own lines.  They have an assortment of products based on a central theme for that box.  This months bundle was New Year Bundle. The box starts at $19.99 every other month and promises to ship at least double that in the value of products.  It ships in a black box with their logo on it and looks good. All products are full sized as well. This month they sent out an email saying that due to the crazy weather boxes were a little delayed and just to keep their customers happy they were including items to up the box value.

20150129_144708

As usual the products came in a drawstring bag.  For some reason there was not an info card included.

20150129_144722

e.l.f studio Makeup Artist Brush Belt-$15.00

This is the extra product to make up for the late shipping.  I’d rather have just got more makeup.  I will never use this as it’s intended but maybe I can find a different use.

20150129_144809

Mineral Eye Brightener in Buff-$2.40

This can be used as both a highlighter or an eyeshadow base.  It has no shimmer at all but is a perfect match to my skin tone.

20150129_144830

Essential Nail Polish in Nude-$2.00

This is a 3 free polish.  The name of the color describes it perfectly, it’s a light buff color that is just slightly pink.

20150129_144843

Zit Zapper Acne Treatment-$1.00

This contains a blend of salicylic acid, tea tree, witch hazel and camphor to help clear up zits.  It is a roll on applicator which is different from the type I normally use but I use it often enough that more is a welcome addition.

20150129_144929

Pressed Mineral Blush in Wanderlust-$5.00

If I use a gentle touch I can wear this blush.  It’s a nice color but a bit too dark for me.  This makes me sad because I have received so few blushes from my boxes and this one is a mineral one to boot.  Maybe the eighties cheeks will come back into style and then I can just go for it.

20150129_145012

Mineral Lip Tint in Rose-$2.40

This is another disappointment for me.  The color is just not working.  I like the feel of it on and the formula and that it is mineral but the color is so bad.

20150129_145107

Matte Lip Color in Natural-$3.00

Oh good a color I can use!  There seems to be a running theme of natural and nude shades with this box.  As with most matte lip products this one feels a little dry on but it applies really smooth and as I mentioned the color is nice.

20150129_145138

Contour Brush-$3.00

They have already sent me a pretty complete set of brushes in a previous box but I’m always glad for more.  The brushes are good quality for the price and because of their price I have no qualms about tossing them when they get older instead of washing them.

20150129_145215

Pout Perfector-$3.00

You are supposed to use this just on the center of your bottom lip to create a glow.  I like it spread all over as a lip gloss.  It’s so sparkly that I shouldn’t be able to wear it alone but I think it’s great!

20150129_145244

Eye Widener in White-$1.00

I do not have a white liner so this is good.  It is supposed to make your eyes look wider buy reflecting the light.  I tend to just put a dot of light eyeshadow in the corners to do the same thing.  I love that their liners come with a sharpener in the lid!

20150129_145302

Retractable Kabuki Brush-$5.00

This is perfect for throwing in my bag for powder touchups.  The base has a collar that slides up and down to cover the brush before you put the lid on so no bristles get bent.

20150129_145355

Mineral Eyeliner in Black-$3.00

Not much you can say about black eyeliner.  I like that it is mineral, it glides nice, and everyone has 52 black pencils.

This months bundle was pretty good.  While a couple of the colors are not right for me, that’s just the chance that you take when you get one of these boxes.  The value of the box is $45.80.  I have had no more shipping issues with them since the first box and like that the boxes are seasonally themed.  I also like that the product is so reasonably priced if I want more.

e.l.f.Beauty Bundle December 2014 & Advent Day 8

e.l.f. Beauty Bundle is a makeup box that ships every 8 weeks.  They ship out a variety of makeup and brushes from their own lines.  They have an assortment of products based on a central theme for that box.  This months bundle was Happy Holiday Glow. The box starts at $19.99 every other month and promises to ship at least double that in the value of products.  It ships in a black box with their logo on it and looks good. All products are full sized as well.

20141207_131005

You can never see much on opening but the box is full.

20141207_131047 20141207_131130

Once out there is the info card, which opens up and carries over onto the back with all the items listed.  The products come in a drawstring bag.

20141207_131417

Matte Lip Color in Rich Red-$3.00

This is a completely wearable red lipstick.  I don’t find it really all that matte but I think it looks good on me, even though I rarely wear a pure red lip.  The twist up stick applicator makes it really simple to apply perfectly too.

20141207_131813

Cream Eyeliner in Black-$3.00

I wear eyeliner everyday but I always wear pencil liners because I’m freaked out by liquid.  This is not a liquid but having to apply it with a brush leads me to think I’m going to have the same issues I do with liquid ones.  I think maybe I just need to practice more but with two little ones I don;t really have time to give it more then one go a morning and while I could leave the house with weird eye makeup, it’s not my first choice.

20141207_131945

Blush Palette in Dark-$6.00

While I like this I wish I had received the light instead as I will only be able to wear two of these shades without looking like I just arrived from 1984.  The blushes are replaceable though so I might be able to remedy this without to much hassle.

20141207_132007

Glitter Nail Polish in Chic Confetti-$2.00

I have a bunch of e.l.f. nail polishes and they are some of my most used colors.  This is a really great holiday polish and will make a good top coat over some other polishes that I don’t like as much.

20141207_131715

Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil in Black Bandit-$1.00

Now this is more my style!  I think the built in sharpener is cool and don’t think you can really go wrong with a sparkly black liner.

20141207_131902

Studio Prism Eyeshadow in Smoke-$10.00

This is the most expensive item in this months box.  It is full of colors for a night out or a holiday party and I think would make a smokey eye super easy.

20141207_131732

Essential Dramatic Lash Kit in Black-$1.00

I am so excited about these!!! I have been wanting to try out fake lashes for a long time and have never got around to buying any.  I am maybe a bit odd (okay a lot odd), but I wish I had a life that required me to wear lashes everyday for any reason at all.  Who knows, maybe I’ll start doing it just because.  These $1.00 lashes could change my life. I’ll keep you posted, lol.

20141207_131646

Mineral Glow in Shimmer-$8.00

I like that they send out products from their mineral line as well as the basic products in this box.  They could cheap out and they don’t.  This is a great finishing powder with just a touch of shimmer to add radiance to your skin.  I think this might become my new best friend.

20141207_131559

Studio Mineral Powder Brush-$3.00

And they give you the brush to apply it with too!

20141207_131308

Lip Stain in Lucky Lady-$3.00

This product can be worn three ways, just the stain for a matte color, just the gloss for shine, or combined.  On my this color is about the shade of my lips so it’s not too noticeable without the gloss. However it did dry to a matte and for a neutral lip it would be perfect.

The box had a value of $40.00 which is what they promise.  I liked everything in it, even though the blushes are a bit too dark for me.  They also include a code to get a discount off of a purchase from their store, and say that new products arrive weekly.  If you remember from the last box I had a bit of an issue with customs, you can check that out here.  I contacted them to let them know that they had way overstated the value of the box on the declaration label and I was charged another $20 to get my box.  Since I do have to already pay a shipping fee to get this box that made it more expensive then what I was receiving.  Not only did they reply quickly to my concerns, they also refunded me the customs charge even though I had just wanted to let them know so they could change their label for next time.  Their customer service was fantastic and I would now recommend this box to anyone wanting to get a set of seasonally appropriate cosmetics to switch things up every two months.  Don’t let the prices fool you, the makeup is not cheaply colored or crappy quality.  You can visit their site by clicking here.

Today’s Advent Calendar treats were:

20141208_093728

Beauty Sticky Notes from Benefit.

20141208_093646

Strawberry Lip Butter from the Body Shop, because “You have plenty of admirers today, keep the mistletoe handy!” Gee I hope I can keep them from beating down my door in their efforts to kiss me…..

I have to say I am a little surprised at the amount of non-beauty products I have been getting from the Benefit calendar.  For what it cost I thought it would be full of their products and I have already received paper clips, sticky notes, and a hair tie making 30% of my treats so far not makeup.  Maybe they are saving the really good stuff till the end? I don’t have a winner today since I’m sad about the sticky notes and only okay with the lip butter.  Here’s hoping tomorrow returns me to joy.

e.l.f. Beauty Bundle September 2014

e.l.f. Beauty Bundle is a makeup box that ships every 8 weeks.  They ship out a variety of makeup and brushes from their own lines.  They have an assortment of products based on a central theme for that box.  This months bundle was Back To Beauty School, everything you need for a full eyes, lips, and face look. The box starts at $19.99 every other month and promises to ship at least double that in the value of products.  It ships in a black box with their logo on it and looks good.

20141010_125004 20141010_125059

Inside was a product card and under that was a drawstring bag covered with hot pink tissue paper.

20141010_125022

The card details the products and gives a retail value for all of them. It continued on to the back and there was also a code for a discount if you ordered from their online store.

20141010_125253 20141011_101334

Eye Primer & Liner Sealer-$3

The eye primer is great to stop smudging and bleeding of eye products. I’ve never used a liner sealer before but it says that you apply a dark eye shadow as a liner and then go over it with the sealer. It locks it in and makes it like a liquid liner. Definitely going to give it a try.

20141010_125300 20141011_101145

HD Undereye Setting Powder-$3

This powder is supposed to camouflage fine lines, dark circles and imperfections. Can’t go wrong with that.

20141010_125158 20141011_101635

Liquid & Pencil Eyeliner Set-$3

This has a brown and black liquid liner and a shimmery black pencil liner with a built in sharpener.  I have a fear of liquid liners so this will be a good way for me to practice without worrying about the money I’ve wasted if I hate it.

20141010_125245 20141011_101416

Smudge Pot-$3

The colour is called Back to Basics and its a nice soft bronze shimmer that can be used as a eyeshadow or liner. It is really subtle and I love it.

20141010_125207 20141011_101245

Volume Plumping Mascara-$3

You can never have enough black mascara.

20141010_125234 20141011_101555

Mineral Lipstick-$5

The colour is Barely Bitten and it’s a browny rose shade. It looks quite dark but goes on shimmery so it’s not super crazy. A good everyday lipstick and it’s mineral to boot so no funky stuff in it.

20141010_125143 20141011_101515

13 Piece Face & Lip Palette-$8

Two bronzers, two blushes, and nine lipglosses make this a larger sized case if you were going to use it for on the go touchups as they say. Also the lack of eye product means you’d be bringing another case. The brushes included are also the typical crappy small useless tools that get thrown out the second these things are opened.  I do like the colours and will definitely use this but it’ll just live on my counter, not the bottom of my bag.

20141010_125219

Powder Puffs set of 4-$1

Another thing you can’t really have to many of since they tend to get kind of grimy after a while.

20141010_125124 20141011_101738

Professional Complete Set of 12 Brushes-$12

This was the big ticket item in this box. You get a total face brush, bronzing blush, foundation brush, brow comb and brush, eyeliner brush, smudge eye sponge, blending eye brush, eyeshadow brush, lash & brow brush, defining eye brush, concealer brush, and lip defining brush. New brushes are great and to get a complete set is cool too.

As you can tell from the prices e.l.f. is typically a drug store brand but they have good products and I’ve always been happy when I have purchased them in the past. The only issue I had with this box was that they valued the products on the shipping label at $100, total actual value just over $40, so I had to pay duty on it.  I have sent them an email regarding this and hope it will be corrected for future boxes.
