Danklo January 2015

Danklo is a monthly service that bills themselves as a “Monthly Life Enhancer”.  They ship out an assortment of things and “You’ll Never Guess What’s Inside”.  They have three shipping options ranging from $7.99 to $13.99 a month and you get from 1-2 to 1-5 gifts depending on your choice.  You do fill out a little survey so they have an idea about you and your likes. There will also be a cash prize in each box from $1-$1000.

They ship in a colorful bubble mailer.  It has been a different color each month so far.

Instead of an info card you get a little booklet detailing your surprises.

Farberware Flip-Grip Sharpener-$8.97

Hubby had just commented the other day that one of our knives was dull and now we can fix that!  I would never have thought to buy one of these myself so I’m quite happy with this.

Zeiss Clean Screen Wipes 20pk-$3.99

Our laptop and tv are always covered in fingerprints from the kidlets, so these are a lifesaver.  I’m not sure that they are much more effective then the damp cloth I use now but they will be used up in no time.

Retractable Charge & Sync Cable-~$5.00

I cannot find this exact charger online but similar ones seem to run at around $5.00 so that’s what I’m going with.  My backup charger cable crapped out last night actually so this is perfectly timed.  It locks out extended so you don’t have to worry about it pulling your phone off of whatever it’s sitting on.

Cash-$2.00

Well it’s not the big money but it is a whole dollar more than last month and with the Canadian dollar dropping it’s almost like $3. American money is so plain looking but it spends fantastically.  Danklo had actually sent me an email asking if I was able to use American dollars up here or if I would like them to try to find Canadian ones……I’m sure you can guess my response.

This months treasures had a value of $19.96.  With shipping and the exchange rate that is less then I paid for the subscription.  I’m thinking that this is one that I’ll be dropping unless our dollar rebounds really quickly.  I like the idea of getting a completely random group of item each month but it’s hard to justify it when the value is not there.

You do fill out a little survey so thy have an idea about you and your likes.  When I signed up there was a sweepstakes entry with every box but now the website says there will be a cash prize in each box from $1-$1000. I was okay with what they sent out last month so I was hopeful that this month would not disappoint.

This box took a long time to get to me this time.  As you can see it has a Holiday message and treat and I received it after New Years.  I like candy though so I’ll forgive them this time.

Instead of an info card they included a booklet with the items and usage instructions.

Mini Bluetooth Speaker-$29.99

They don’t include prices on your info booklet but I was able to find this speaker online so I feel confident in the pricing.  I don’t have a speaker for my phone so I’m probably  more excited about this then I should be.  It holds a charge for up to five hours so you are good to go for most of an evening if you need to be away from a plug.  I haven’t tried out the sound but I think it should be good.

Griffin USB Car Charger-$6.95

I already have a similar one of these so it’s less of a win for me but still a useful item.  There is not a theme for the box but it does seem geared to phone accesories this time.

I subscribe to the Prime option of this box and they promise lifetime returns on the items.  As for the promised money, yep it was there.  I received $1.00USD which with the current exchange rate is not too shabby. LOL.  I’m not sure how much longer I’m going to keep on with Danklo.  I like the idea of a completely random box of stuff but while I’ve been okay with my stuff nothing has wowed me.  I fully expected to only receive $1.00 but it would be nice to get a few more bucks.  The products so far have been practical and useful, though not mindblowing.

Visit them here if you’d like to see what they’re about.

I signed up for the Deluxe option.

The shipping envelope. It was really heavy.

Personalized info card welcoming me to Danklo and giving me the down low on what they shipped me.

9-LED Flashlight and Panasonic AAA Batteries

I already have a flashlight like this but since my toddler loves to take and play with it having an extra one is nice. I’m not sure if every time they send a device requiring batteries they give you extra ones but I think that it is awesome.

Kinetic Sand

This is what made the bag so heavy.  It looks like a regular bag of sand but it has an additive in it that makes it stay damp and stick together.  It doesn’t look like much but once I had it out of the bag and was playing with it, it’s so cool!!  It is hard to describe but it kind of melts if you pour it from hand to hand or onto a table.  It leaves no mess and only ticks to itself, not to you or the surface your playing on.  I’m not sure if this is the brand of sand I received but this video shows it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50_-zqsgDA4

This was a totally impulsive box purchase.  It seemed like it might be interesting and I had seen other people receiving some stuff that I thought was cool so I went for it.  I’m glad it is not very expensive because it wasn’t the best stuff in it but it was fun and useful so I’m going to give it a couple more months to see if they do ship money in the next ones and also to see if I get some stuff I never knew I needed.
