Mighty Fix September 2017

Mighty Fix is a monthly subscription that sends you one product a month that can help your family live healthier.  Boxes start at $10.00 per month and there is a slight discount for a yearly join.  Shipping to Canada is $3.00 per month and free to the US.  You also have the option to add any items from their shop to your order each month with no extra shipping fees.  They also send out emails with member-only deals on items all through the month.  This was another one I had really wanted to try but they’ve only recently opened up shipping to Canada.  Once I found that out I jumped on board to see what I could get that would make my life healthier and hopefully easier too.

20170921_200641

The box was very flat and light this time.  I couldn’t tell anything about what sort of item I might find inside here.

The card included tells you what you are getting for the month and a little about that item.  On the back are hints or recipes that you can use the items for.  This month it’s an Antioxidant Avenger Smoothie.

20170921_200754

Endurance Stainless-Steel Straws-$10.99 Stainless Steel Straw Cleaner-$1.99

I am very happy with this offering this month.  We go through straws like crazy in this house and so this will be a way to conserve some of that.  I also like that they sent the cleaner so you can get all the crud out.  The straws are 18/8 stainless steel and can be tossed in the dishwasher as well.

I’m very happy with the offerings this month.  This is something we will for sure use. I’m getting to try some things I’m sure I would never just buy and they are easy ways to make simple changes to try and keep my home and family in better health.  I’m glad that they opened up to Canada and can’t wait to see what other crazy things they send me next.

Annie’s Creative Woman Kit-Of-The-Month Club September 2017

Annie’s Creative Woman sends out a complete craft kit once a month so you can try and learn new crafts.  Crafts could include painting, beading, needlecrafts, memory crafts, soap-making, mosaics, card-making or anything really.  You get your first month at half price and then pay regular price for all successive months.  There are shipping charges applied as well.  Each month the kit will be billed to you for $19.99.  I am always on the lookout for new crafts and kits are so much less hassle because you get everything you need.

This month the kit is for Beading.  It contains everything you need to make a pair of earrings and a necklace.  It doesn’t come with any of the tools you will need but I own a couple of pairs of small pliers and that should be all that is required. I have never done jewelry making before and this style is not really something I would pick but I’m hoping that the effort of making it will make it more appealing.  I am interested in learning this skill so that will make it good too.

They are still one payment ahead of shipment on this box but they are at least shipping them out on a regular basis now.  This month is just okay for me and I have already sent my request to end these arriving at my door.  They are just too hit and miss and with the exchange rate it’s not worth it for me to continue.

The Penalty Box August 2017

The Penalty Box is a monthly subscription that sends out items for hockey players.  They promise to include basic items, skills training, performance wear, and deals.  They offer two different plans, The Minor Leaguer, and The Penalty Box.  Whichever one you choose, you then get to pick from three age levels, Age 13 and Under, 13+, and Beer Leaguer, which determines the items that will be in your box.  Prices start at $29.99 a month and go up from there.  They also do a Grab Bag for $21.99 a month that is a mix of anything. They have an online shop that sells some items individually as well.  My Hubby has been after me for a while to find him a box and one that is hockey related to boot.  That has been impossible until this one so let’s see if we can make him happy with whatever is inside. I also want to mention that I only know things about hockey that have been absorbed by osmosis so if I’m wildly off in describing something, that’s why.

For what I think is the fourth month in a row the box has changed.  They are obviously trying to come up with a logo and keep sending out different options.  The inside of the box had already been rifled through by an impatient man so I can’t tell how it looked originally.  The card is stuck onto the inside of the lid this month and talks about back to school and hockey time.

20170912_202303

Biosteel High-Performance Sports Mix-$1.33 x 2

These drink powders are sugar, caffeine, and gluten-free.  They provide energy and reduce muscle and mental fatigue.  This is the third time that they have sent out these samples but they are an easy replacement for Gatorade in the locker room.

20170912_202246

MAXX Stickhandling & Shooting Ball-$12.99

This is an 8oz ball that is made to help players build stronger forearms and hands for a harder and more accurate shot.  It has a steel core and says that it helps because of the size of it and how it rolls on the floor and off your stick.  I don’t know if the guys use these but we’re received a few different ones in this box and none are kicking around so they have gone somewhere.

20170912_202231

Renfrew Colored Grip Hockey Tape-$2.99

This looks like athletic tape but it is actually for your stick. It sticks to itself, you can use it alone or over other tapes, and it leaves no residue behind.  It comes in plenty of colours but black is a good choice for us.

20170912_202210

Bauer Core Performance Tall Skate Sock-$13.99

These socks are a type of compression sock.  They are treated to stop them from stinking and they also have a fancy type of toe that stops bunching up.  They have some fun designs on them and who doesn’t love a man in knee-high socks?

20170912_202148

Bauer Team Short Sleeved Tee-$27.95

This is a tee shirt that is made to be used as a team shirt.  It is left plain on purpose so that you can add your logo to it and have everyone look exactly the same.  Left on its own like this, it has the Bauer logo on the left shoulder and is a soft black tee.  It’s nice to receive something like this in the box.

I wasn’t sure what types of things this box would send out and whether or not my hubby would like it.  Turns out, this is everything he could want in a hockey box.  It gave him a bunch of useful items that he would be buying anyway, plus some things that are helpful to his game.  This box had a value of $60.58, which is almost double last month and much closer to where I think it should be. I know Hubs is thrilled and wants it to be one we keep but I have cancelled this box just because the last few months have been super disappointing and low valued.  If you want to check them out visit  http://www.penaltybox.co/subscribe/

Mindfulness Box August 2017

Mindfulness Box is a monthly subscription that aims to promote mindfulness, inner peace & balance.  It contains 4-6 inspiring goods that have been carefully curated to bring you Zen and positivity.  There can be Holistic or Homoeopathic health care products, handcrafted jewelry, or crystals.  They offer three different box types based on who is receiving the box, the standard box, a kids box, or a family box.  The standard and kids start at $29.00 and the family is $52.00 per month.  Boxes do go down slightly with longer plans and shipping to here was $15.00 a month.  This is one of the boxes I snagged on Mother’s Day at 50% off and is one I would normally not get due to the price.  I am excited to see what’s inside as the images of past boxes look great.

The box was a little flatter than what has been shipped before but inside everything was safely hidden under packing peanuts.

They have an info card that lets you know that the box is all about Heart and the items included are meant to “create a moment of peace, reflection, and mindfulness.”  It tells you what items are included, how to use them, where to get them and a value for them.

20170911_190425

Revel Aventurine Reiki Inflused Wish Bracelet-$4.00

This is one of those bracelets where you make a wish, tie it on, and then once it wears out and falls off your wish will be ready.  These stones are said to activate and clear the heart chakra.

20170911_190335

Bella Luna Luz Crystal-Infused “Heart Chakra” Salve-$18.00

This salve is a blend of vanilla and rose.  This is also made to activate the Heart Chakra.  You rub this on the center of your chest and then imagine being surrounded by love.  It smells very nice and should aid in emotional and physical well being

20170911_190356

Rough Natural Rose Quartz Crystal-$8.66

This is a beautiful stone and I like the unpolished look.  It still has smooth enough sides to rub and then the rough sides give you plenty of places to focus on.  It also says that the stone was cleansed under the solar eclipse.  I don’t know what that means but it sounds great.

Mindfulness Box “Mindful Moments Of Self Love” Affirmation + Activity Set-$8.00

This is a set of activities to help your mindfulness and give you affirmations.  It has cards and a list of things to do to help open your heart chakra.  This is something that I can definitely use.

20170911_190407

Buddha Teas 4th Chakra Tea-$1.00

This tea is a blend of lavender, jasmine, hyssop, hawthorn berry, and rose.  They included two tea bags and these are made with organic ingredients.  You are supposed to drink this and say an affirmation as you do.

20170911_190323

Kashi Coconut Cashew Macaroon Chewy Nut Bar-$0.70

I’ve had this bar before and they are delicious.  It’s a nice snack to include and I’ll happily take it.

I have to say I”m very happy with my third box from them.  This should actually be my fourth box but July’s was lost in shipping.  I have let them know and they are shipping me out a replacement box.  All of the items included definitely are geared to making me relax and step away from the crazy of life.  These things are all going to be used and hopefully, add to my life.  The value of this month was $40.36, which is very good for what I paid.

Teacher’s Black Box August 2017

Teacher’s  Black Box is a box of items which will include “basic and innovative supplies to enhance their educational impact”.  Now I am not a teacher but if you put a chance to get stationery in front of me, there’s only a small chance I’ll turn it down.  They also say there will be a snack in every box.  Boxes start at $20.00 but go down with longer terms.  Normally the shipping on this one would have stopped me from ordering but they were offering a promo code “ONETIME” that gave you free shipping on orders over $50.  That code is still valid so make sure you use it if you want to sign up.  Let’s see what joy they have delivered to me today.

20170906_165637

The box showed up in its standard form this time.  It’s been a few months since we’ve actually seen the black box.  It was packed pretty fully and nothing shifted around during shipping.

This is the second time they’ve sent me a mini glue gun and glue sticks but I’m not upset about it.  This is a good thing to have on hand and with two kids in the house, I’m thinking in a few years I’ll be needing both of them at once.  I also feel it’s good that they send the glue along.  They don’t have to but it means I don’t need to do anything besides plug this in and I can be a gluing machine!

20170906_165723

Next out of the box was this pack of index cards.  While I have zero practical use for these, my inner stationery lover is doing jumping jacks. I cannot rationally explain why these things make me so happy but they do.  I love them and I want all of them.

Have I mentioned I had boring pens and pencils?  These are both items I would never choose to use but with two kids who have many years of school to come I know we will have a use for these and they will end up being used by those with less discerning tastes.

20170906_165751

Next, we have a package of clear thumb tacks.  These would be very useful if I was actually a teacher.  I don’t have that many things to tack up in my cubical so I will leave these at home and use them for whatever we come up with.

20170906_165825

This is a roll of double sided mounting tape.  I think I might already have a roll of this somewhere but it’s one of those things you never need until you REALLY need it.  I like that it is the slightly thicker one instead of the one that is just tape thickness if you know what I mean.  It’s easier to work with and doesn’t ball up in a mess on you.

20170906_165832

I take all my dry erase markers to work and guard them with my life.  The ones we have in the meeting rooms are always super low on ink and should be thrown out but since there is not a replacement near by they just stay in there.  I bring my own and then take them away with me because I’m evil like that.  These ones are cool because the barrels are clear so you can see how much is left.

20170906_165859

Lastly in the box was a stapler. It came with a few thousand staples as well, I just didn’t take their picture.  They have sent me out one of these before but having more than one stapler in the house is hardly a bad idea.  This is a standard stapler and it works great for what we’ll use it for.

20170906_165913

They did remember the snack this month.  It’s a gummy fruit snack and I will eat this later this evening.

This month was great for me.   Normally a few of the things are really great and a couple are not for me, but that’s only because I’m not a teacher.  I can see how these things would be useful for a teacher and they also work well for those of us who love these things.  There was a treat this time.  You can find this box on CrateJoy if you are interested.

Annie’s Creative Woman Kit-Of-The-Month Club August 2017

Annie’s Creative Woman sends out a complete craft kit once a month so you can try and learn new crafts.  Crafts could include painting, beading, needlecrafts, memory crafts, soap-making, mosaics, card-making or anything really.  You get your first month at half price and then pay regular price for all successive months.  There are shipping charges applied as well.  Each month the kit will be billed to you for $19.99.  I am always on the lookout for new crafts and kits are so much less hassle because you get everything you need.

This month the kit is Festive Friends Ornaments.  It’s a cross stitch trio done on a paper Aida cloth.  It comes with all the floss and ribbon for hanging as well.  Cross stitch is something I already do regularly but these are super cute and will make lovely ornaments, gifts, or gift tags.

They are still one payment ahead of shipment on this box but they are at least shipping them out on a regular basis now.  I’m happy with this months offering, I know it’s something I will do and that means I’ll continue this subscription for at least one more month.

Rosalette Beauty Bag September 2017

Rosalette Beauty Bag is a monthly subscription that sends out makeup and beauty products.  They offer a few different plans, either 4 sample sized products or 5-6 products, mixed between sample and full sized.  Plans start at $13.90 a month and there are added shipping costs.  If you subscribe for a year there are discounts.  I have no beauty bags left in my sub rotation so I was on the lookout for a cheaper one to get me some fun things.  I chose the Deluxe Bag, which is the bigger of the two.  They do send out shipping notices so that’s nice and it turns out that they are a Canadian company too!!!!

I have to admit that on first glance, pulling this bag out of the mailer was disappointing.  It’s pretty empty and the items inside are on the smaller size.  They do not include an info card but they do Thank You and ask you to tag them @rosalette.beauty #rosalettebeauty

20170906_143217

Jersey Shore Spa Unscented Hydrating Balm-$8.00

This vegan balm is made with all natural and non-GMO ingredients.  It is really truly unscented.  It doesn’t even have a base wax or oil smell.  It does feel very hydrating once you put it on and almost like it’s coating your lips with an actual layer of protection.  I think this will be a great lip balm come Winter once my lips start to get chapped and dry from the wind and cold.  They did send out a different flavour of this last month.

20170906_143235

aBella Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in aBella Red-$11.00

I’m not sure if this a brand new item or an old one.  The company website is not available right now and so it took some digging to find anything out about this product.  I do have to say that liquid lipstick is not one of my favourite items.  I lack the ability to use it properly.  This one is a very dark wine red shade that surprisingly I like on me, I don’t normally do red too often.  It is dark enough that I would save it for an evening out or a special occasion.  It does have that dry feeling where you can’t rub your lips together once you have it on though.

20170906_143309

Starlooks Longwear Eye Pencil in Noir-$9.00

This is another Perfect Size item from Starlooks.  This is a very creamy liner that glides on with no pulling or tugging.  It does smear though if you rub it. They seem to send out a Starlooks item pretty regularly so they must be one of their normal suppliers.  You can get this item in its own subscription box as well.

20170906_143335

Medusa’s Make-Up Eyeshadow in Electro Kiwi-$4.00

Part of me is all, OMG how am I ever going to wear neon green eyeshadow, and the other half is, OMG I love it!  🙂  It is very bright and very glittery and more of a gold green when you actually put it on.  I’ve received a bit of Medus’s Make-Up before and it has always been great to work with and gives me good staying power.  I’m happy with this.

20170906_143348

Akar Skin Neat Remedy Face Oil-$5.10

This little tube of oil is a replacement for your moisturizer.  It is specifically formulated for oily, combination and sensitive skin.  It is supposed to balance your skin’s sebum level, calm inflammations and clarify your complexion without drying your skin.  It has a very faint scent and it absorbed into my skin almost immediately.

I am very happy with my fourth box from them, even with the similar items.  There is a great mix of beauty products and they’ve given me the makeup I’ve been missing from my other boxes.  The value of this month is $37.10.  That is great and so much higher than the price of the box.  The shipping was quick as well since they are Canadian and only a province over from me.  If you want to try them out they have a coupon that will get you 10% off any subscription, just type ROSALETTE at checkout.

Mighty Fix August 2017

Mighty Fix is a monthly subscription that sends you one product a month that can help your family live healthier.  Boxes start at $10.00 per month and there is a slight discount for a yearly join.  Shipping to Canada is $3.00 per month and free to the US.  You also have the option to add any items from their shop to your order each month with no extra shipping fees.  They also send out emails with member only deals on items all through the month.  This was another one I had really wanted to try but they’ve only recently opened up shipping to Canada.  Once I found that out I jumped on board to see what I could get that would make my life healthier and hopefully easier too.

20170831_193818

The bog was pretty small this month but I’ve learned that that doesn’t mean that what’s inside is a bad thing.

They have a card in the bag that tells you a little about the item you will be getting that month.  On the back of the card are some examples of ways to use the item or sometimes a recipe.

Lekue Silicone Stretch Storage Top-$11.99

These lids, which look like giant condoms…..seem super fun.  They stretch out to fit over bowls, cups, or right over fruits.  They provide a seal getting rid of the need for cling wrap or tin foil.  If you press down in the middle they also make a vacuum seal.  You can use them in the microwave, dishwasher, and freezer.  They come in different sizes but this pack is 3.5″ and there are 3 of them.
