The Penalty Box June 2017

The Penalty Box is a monthly subscription that sends out items for hockey players.  They promise to include basic items, skills training, performance wear, and deals.  They offer two different plans, The Minor Leaguer, and The Penalty Box.  Whichever one you choose, you then get to pick from three age levels, Age 13 and Under, 13+, and Beer Leaguer, which determines the items that will be in your box.  Prices start at $29.99 a month and go up from there.  They also do a Grab Bag for $21.99 a month that is a mix of anything. They have an online shop that sells some items individually as well.  My Hubby has been after me for a while to find him a box and one that is hockey related to boot.  That has been impossible until this one so let’s see if we can make him happy with whatever is inside. I also want to mention that I only know things about hockey that have been absorbed by osmosis so if I’m wildly off in describing something, that’s why.

The box is the same as last month on the outside.  Inside I can see a few things but besides maybe a hat peeking out, it’s pretty hidden as to what is in there.

There is a card in the box that talks about what’s going on and tells a couple of the items inside.

Howie’s Accessory Bag-$11.00

This bag can be used either as a shaving kit for the guys or to store all your hockey tapes and little bits that can fall into the bottom of the big hockey bag.  I think this is a good get and I’m sure it will be put to use.

Howie’s Rookie Season Hat-$13.99

Hubs has already claimed this hat and has been wearing it since it took me a little while to get this review done.  It is a snap back trucker hat in the old school style.  It is something that really made this box for my Hubby.

Fila Cool Body Sport Towel-$2.99

This seems to be geared mostly to tennis players but I think any one who plays sports would find these useful.  It’s a 1×2′ towel that has things in it to invigorate you and refresh you after you’re done playing.  It also has tea tree oil in it which has anti-bacterial properties.

Plackers Micro Mint Dental Flossers-$1.50

This is a twelve pack of dental flossers.  I’m not really sure how this is useful to a hockey player since half of them are missing teeth anyways.  The ones that do have them don’t do much eating in the locker room after a game but I guess if they have a hot date with a puck bunny afterward they might want to freshen their teeth up.

Pocket Comb-$1.32

I guess this box is all about making yourself acceptable once the game is done.  This is your basic comb that the old guys keep in their back pocket and whip out to give a once over to that gelled hair.  Hubby has plans to use this in his beard.

TruEnergy Sport Shot-$2.85

This is a healthier version of an energy shot.  It contains natural caffeine, vitamins, electrolytes, antioxidants, and coconut water.  It is basically a mix of Red Bull and Gatorade.  This one is Citrus Mango flavoured.

Howie’s Clear Shin Pad Tape-$3.00

Sock tape is always needed.  They do tend to send at least one roll of tape with each box, which makes sense as it’s a hockey box.  Hockey requires tape.   There’s no way around that fact.

I wasn’t sure what types of things this box would send out and whether or not my hubby would like it.  Turns out, this is everything he could want in a hockey box.  It gave him a bunch of useful items that he would be buying anyway, plus some things that are helpful to his game.  This box had a value of $36.65, which is very, very low and way less than the box price.  I have a few more months to go and then we’ll see if we renew.  I know Hubs is thrilled and wants it to be one we keep so we might have to work out a deal where I get back rubs or something.  If you want to check them out visit
