Fred’s Box Mystery Subscription Box July 2017

Fred’s Box is a monthly subscription full of things for kids 3 and over.  In the Mystery Box, you get a book, an Ooshie or Crayola funky shapes, depending on the age of the recipient, pencil, sticker, postcards, and some mystery items. You can get this box as a twin version to get double the goodies.  There is a straight Ooshies box that saves you from having to try to collect them one at a time as well, in 4 sizes.  Boxes start at $3.99 British Pounds and go up from there.  Shipping to Canada is 54 pence a month.  I decided to go with the Mystery Box for Bug and since her birthday is soon, I aged her up to 6 for the books.  They shipped out quite quickly after ordering and now we get to check out what’s inside.

The box is the same as last month, including the sticker letting us know whose box this really is.

Rapunzel and the Billy Goats

The book this month is another Fairytale Jumble mixing the stories of Rapunzel and Billy Goats Gruff.  This is a book that is made for beginning readers.  It is in the second to the last tier of the reading levels for this series.  Bug is not reading on her own yet but she does recognise words and it’s good to add a new book to her collection.

Hologram Harley Quinn Ooshie

I’m happy to have received a Rare one and a female one as well. She is a squishy little character that can also be used as a pencil topper.  My girls are very into superheroes and their associated villains so this little blind bag item will make their day.

This month has a pink pencil crayon and four postcards that can be decorated by the kids.

The mystery items this time are a Tsum Tsum Mickey and Minnie Mouse Friendship Necklace Set, Thumper and Chip Tsum Tsum figures, Shopkins barrettes, and another pack of Disney Princess Trading Cards.  We haven’t been sucked into the Tsum Tsum craze here, though we have watched the cartoon so the girls will be happy to get these ones.  The barrettes are always needed here and I’m thinking there will be a fight for these.  The last pack of Princess cards went over super well so adding to them will bring squeals of joy.

This box is great fun.  The girls are going to be very happy with all the toys in it and the book has already been given the thumb’s up.  There is an opportunity for creativity with the postcards, learning with the book, and play with the rest.  I can’t wait to see what future boxes from them bring us.  If you want to check them out and get your own box of goodies click here.

Teacher’s Black Box June 2017

Teacher’s  Black Box is a box of items which will include “basic and innovative supplies to enhance their educational impact”.  Now I am not a teacher but if you put a chance to get stationery in front of me, there’s only a small chance I’ll turn it down.  They also say there will be a snack in every box.  Boxes start at $20.00 but go down with longer terms.  Normally the shipping on this one would have stopped me from ordering but they were offering a promo code “ONETIME” that gave you free shipping on orders over $50.  That code is still valid so make sure you use it if you want to sign up.  Let’s see what joy they have delivered to me today.

This time instead of the normal black box, a bubble envelope showed up.

There is a little paper that tells us that the items in this months box are designed to let you enjoy summer vacation.  Since the box is for teachers, that makes perfect sense.

Fidget Spinner

I don’t need one of these for myself as I just don’t know why you would want to do this, but we have one the girls got and they love it.  This will stop the fights since they can each have one to play with now.  This one is more grown up than the flower one we have but I think they can handle it.

Google Virtual Reality Cardboard Headset

This folds out into a headset that you wear and stick your phone in and use with Google Expeditions to have a VR experience.  This isn’t really great for me as I had a “real” VR headset and used it twice before I gave it away.  This is going to go straight into the donate bin.

Finger Moistener

They recommend using these to turn the pages of the books you read on vacation until next fall when you can use them to grade papers.  I won’t use them for that but I love these things!  I have used them before when I had a job involving lots of paper sorting but I will just find an excuse to use them now.

Screen Wipes

I need these so badly for all my screens that it’s not even funny.  I don’t notice the dirty on them until the sun hit it and then I wonder how I even saw anything on my screen.  There are not too many in this pack but I will save them and use them carefully.

Colouring Book Planner and Coloured Pencils

I think this is the reason for the different shipping container this month.  It is big and I live it!  I have a few colouring books but don’t really have the time to devote to it.  Having the colouring page in a planner I can leave open and work on in spare moments at work means I should be able to get it in.  This planner starts now and runs to July of next year.

Fruit Snack

They remembered the snack this month and it’s going to work with me tomorrow!

This month was just okay for me.   Normally a few of the things are really great and a couple are not for me, but that’s only because I’m not a teacher.  I can see how these things would be useful for a teacher and they also work well for those of us who love these things.  There was a treat this time.  I’m not sure how any of these particular items are innovative but maybe I’m missing that part of it.   You can find this box on CrateJoy if you are interested.

Rosalette Beauty Bag July 2017

Rosalette Beauty Bag is a monthly subscription that sends out makeup and beauty products.  They offer a few different plans, either 4 sample sized products or 5-6 products, mixed between sample and full sized.  Plans start at $13.90 a month and there are added shipping costs.  If you subscribe for a year there are discounts.  I have no beauty bags left in my sub rotation so I was on the lookout for a cheaper one to get me some fun things.  I chose the Deluxe Bag, which is the bigger of the two.  The do send out shipping notices so that’s nice and it turns out that they are a Canadian company too!!!!

They have changed the shiny gold bag to a red organza one for this month.  I’m not sure f it’s just a coincidence or if they are showing their Canadian pride.  All bags like this go to my Mom as I don’t have a use for them and I don’t want to throw them out.

They don’t have an info card but there is this Thank You card and a reminder that they would love a share on social media. #rosalettebeauty

Trust Fund Beauty Polish in What’s A Budget-$15.00

This is such a fun summer shade of nail polish.  It is a bright baby blue that will be noticed.  This polish is non-toxic and 7 free along with being vegan and cruelty-free.I have received other items from this brand before and have always found them to be good.  Nail polish is something I would be happy to get very rarely though as I have more than enough and I don’t put it on too often.

Hanna Organic Skincare Gentle Toner-$7.00 30mL

I love getting toner in boxes because it almost never happens!  This toner is made to be sprayed directly onto your face but that never works for me all that well so I think I’ll spray onto a cotton pad and wipe it on.  It has a slightly unpleasant smell to it but it fades fast so it’s not a huge deal.  This toner is supposed to soothe, hydrate, and restore skin’s pH levels.  It is also good for all skin types.

Cosmoholic Liquid Lipstick in Prudish Pink-$10.00

This is an item I am torn about.  On one hand, I love anything that is a lip product.  On the other, liquid lipstick is the one thing I could live without.  I cannot get the application of these things right.  It is so thick and doesn’t glide on like gloss does from the same applicator.  With all that being said, this one is okay and not sticky at all. The colour is not all that great for me, it’s a little light and doesn’t look right when I put it on.  Let’s hope it’s that I’m a little red from the sun today and it looks better next time I try it.

Medusa’s Make-Up Witch Lash Mascara-$12.00

This must be a new item out there because I’ve seen it popping up in other subscription boxes as well as this one.  I was noticing today when I went to get a new tube from my stash that it was getting low so this it welcome to join it.  This is a lengthening and volumizing mascara and it has a rubber brush.  I don’t know how that helps me but it sounds good.

Jersey Shore Cosmetics My Lash Secret Curler-$30.00

Ugh.  I hate eyelash curlers and never, ever, ever use one.  I’m so sad this is the big item in the box and it’s a waste for me.  I know I’m in the minority on this one and that lots of people would be thrilled to get this but it does nothing for me.  I’m sure it’s lovely though.

I am very happy with my third box from them, minus the curler.  There is a great mix of beauty products and they’ve given me the makeup I’ve been missing from my other boxes.  The value of this month is a whopping $74.00.  That is great and so much higher than the price of the box.  The shipping was quick as well since they are Canadian and only a province over from me.  If you want to try them out they have a coupon that will get you 10% off any subscription, just type ROSALETTE at checkout.
