Mighty Fix July 2017

Mighty Fix is a monthly subscription that sends you one product a month that can help your family live healthier.  Boxes start at $10.00 per month and there is a slight discount for a yearly join.  Shipping to Canada is $3.00 per month and free to the US.  You also have the option to add any items from their shop to your order each month with no extra shipping fees.  They also send out emails with member only deals on items all through the month.  This was another one I had really wanted to try but they’ve only recently opened up shipping to Canada.  Once I found that out I jumped on board to see what I could get that would make my life healthier and hopefully easier too.

My Mighty Fix is back to arrving as a completely flat bag.  Thankfully I’ve learned from past experience that this doesn’t mean what’s inside isn’t great.

They have a card included that tells you all about the item you will have received.  On the back is usually a recipe for something that would be able to be used by the item or that can be put into the item.  This month it’s Maple Oatmeal Cookies.

Stasher Silicone Food Storage Bag-$11.99

This is a reusable zipper bag that is made of platinum silicone.  You can microwave it or throw it in the dishwasher.  It has an air-tight pinch closed seal and you can use dry erase markers to write on it and then wipe it right off.  It is also non-pourous so no bacteria grows on it.  This is definitely big enough to get a sandwich in or fill up with a large amount of snacks.  I have been using the fabric bags for work and this is going to be better for me as I can seal this one with more than a velcro flap.

I’m very happy with the offerings this month.  This is something we will for sure use. I’m getting to try some things I’m sure I would never just buy and they are easy ways to make simple changes to try and keep my home and family in better health.  I’m glad that they opened up to Canada and can’t wait to see what other crazy things they send me next.

Bitchy Box TOM July 2017

Bitchy Box is a TOM box with a difference.  They don’t provide feminine hygiene items, but instead items to help you get through that time of the month.  They will fill the box with a variety of sweet treats, salty snacks, and handpicked gifts.  They endeavor to make sure you don’t stab anyone while you are riding some fun hormonal shifts.  They have 3,6, or 12-month plans available, starting at $66.00, plus shipping to Canada.  I had seen some other people’s boxes from them and thought they looked fun so I’m trying them out.

We are back to having the regular box this month and there is a surprise in there too it seems.

There is the info card, telling us the theme, Shark Week, and a list of the items included.  Also in there are some recipes for snacks and drinks and on the back is all their social media information.  There is a separate little page that tells us about a bonus item that we will find in our boxes too.

Hairbrained “Shark Week” Period Panties-$12.00

Every single month I love getting these panties.  They are so fun and different and quirky and I wear them all the time. These are highly time full as it is Shark Week right away.  They are bright and colourful but yet the front panel on the inside is black just in case.

Shark Attack Fabric Button Necklace-$11.00

How cute is this little guy???  This necklace is very light and slightly puffy.  The image is a piece of fabric that has been centered and chosen for this.  I love it and I am trying to figure out what I can wear this to work with very soon.

Great White Shark Soap-$3.88

SO freaking CUTE!!!  I am loving this theme and the items this month.  This is a handmade goat milk soap.  If it has a scent I can’t detect it through the package and the website doesn’t list one either.

Gummy Mini Sharks-$?

These are so soft and I love the gummies that are half white and half regular gummy.  They also included an ingredient list so if you have any issues you can see exactly what is in there.

“Dirty” Sea Salt Potato Chips-$1.09

Sometimes you just want salt and carbs and I think this covers both.  They are called Dirty because they don’t rinse them after slicing.  This is supposed to give a more natural potato flavour.

Z Skin Sensitive Acne Night Lotion-$19.00

This was the bonus item this month.  I am slightly wary of it as there is a typo on the label, it says sesitve instead of sensitive.  It is a night cream that will help to clear acne and blackheads while you sleep.  It also helps to tighten pores and prevent future breakouts.  All of that seems like a very good thing and I could use some help with that.

This month had another great selection of things.  I think that they really nailed the theme this month!  Everything in the box is made to make you feel better and less worked up about things that may go on for this time of the month.  The value this month is $46.97 plus the candy.  Thankfully the value is up this month, though a good part of that is the bonus item.

Earth Wax & Fire July 2017

Earth Wax and Fire is an Israeli subscription that sends out an artisanal candle and a matching ceramic bowl.  You can get a month-to-month plan, or go for a 3,6, or12-month plan.  Plans start at $27.00 a month but go down with the longer ones.  Shipping to here was an additional $11.00 a month.  This normally would be above my comfort price but I signed up on Mother’s Day weekend and they had a 50% code for a 6-month plan.  That definitely made the decision easier.  I have a candle burning every evening so I am on the lookout for them always.  The pictures they have on their site were beautiful so I have hopes for this box.

Once again this box showed up carefully wrapped and packed so that none of the highly fragile items inside shift and break.

They wrap the candle in its own little package and all the other items come in the little bag.  They also have little cards that tell you about each of the items included, a code to get a discount on previous combos, and a handwritten note that hopes I like the items this month.

Velvet Crystal Soap Rolls

These say they are made specifically for scenting drawers and cupboards.  I”m sure you can use them as soap as well if you wanted to.  They are scented with amber crystal and ISO-E-SUPER, whatever that is.  It is a nice smell and I think it would give anything you stored in the drawer with it.  They are handmade by people in a rehabilitative hospital in Isreal.

Handmade Ceramic Greenery Bowl

This shade of green is based on the Color Of The Year by Pantone.  The glaze is applied over speckled mustard clay and kiln fired to become dishwasher safe.  You can burn the candle on it and then use the bowl for pretty much anything afterward and it is safe to use with food items like condiments or spices.

Spring Peach Delight Candle

I really like the candles I have received from this box.  They are well made and highly scented.  This one has the essence of peach, rose, jasmine, and French patchouli.  It smells great and sexy, actually.  It is not overpoweringly peach at all, even though they have named the candle after it.  This candle has about a 40 hour burn time.

I am so impressed with this box.  The level of detail provided and the care in selecting and packing it is first class.  They have reached out a few times to see what my choices would be and been polite and friendly each time.  I know this is a slightly higher priced subscription when it’s not on sale but I honestly believe it would be worth it.  You can currently save 10% off a plan using the code SAVE10 at checkout.

Real Soaps Soap Of The Month July 2017

Real Soaps is a company out of Chicago making handmade soaps and natural body care products.  They don’t use any sulphates, parabens, phthalates and are cruelty-free. They also have no dyes, preservatives, or artificial ingredients and only pure essential oils for scents.  I found them on Etsy but they also have a website.  You can buy individual soaps or they have six and twelve-month plans starting at $47.00 and shipping to Canada was under $20 for the whole term.  I’m not sure why I’m on a soap kick lately but they are fun to get.

This month we have a great blend of scents!  The Lavender Coconut smells so good.  You don’t get a tonne of the coconut part of I think that could change once you get it wet and lathered.

You can’t see it from the pictures but the top of the soap is white.  Looking at the card included you can read all about the different benefits of coconut oil and water.  It seems like this soap can make my life perfect…..or at least do good things for my body.  On the back of the card is a handwritten note saying Thank You for being a subscriber and that they hope I’ve enjoyed my soaps.  This is my last month, so that is a very nice touch.

I am always looking for bath type products and soap is such an easy way to shake up your routine.  I tend to not share these with my family but it I find a scent that is too strong or not to my liking then I give it to my hubby who is less picky.  That won’t be happening with this one!

The Penalty Box May 2017

The Penalty Box is a monthly subscription that sends out items for hockey players.  They promise to include basic items, skills training, performance wear, and deals.  They offer two different plans, The Minor Leaguer, and The Penalty Box.  Whichever one you choose, you then get to pick from three age levels, Age 13 and Under, 13+, and Beer Leaguer, which determines the items that will be in your box.  Prices start at $29.99 a month and go up from there.  They also do a Grab Bag for $21.99 a month that is a mix of anything. They have an online shop that sells some items individually as well.  My Hubby has been after me for a while to find him a box and one that is hockey related to boot.  That has been impossible until this one so let’s see if we can make him happy with whatever is inside. I also want to mention that I only know things about hockey that have been absorbed by osmosis so if I’m wildly off in describing something, that’s why.

The box came as usual.  This month there was no list of items included but May is not the month when too many are thinking about hockey.

A&R Mouthguard-$1.49

This is a moldable mouth guard.  You pop it in boiling water, dip it in cold, and then put it in your mouth and bite down.  I don’t think that my Hubby wears one of these when he plays but maybe he should start as I don’t want to be married to the toothless wonder because he thought he was in the playoffs.

Howies USA Flag Hockey Tape-$4.50

I think that if this was just a striped roll of tape it would go over better here.  I don’t know that this will get used very much with the American flag on it.  Maybe there is an American on the team that will be happy to use this or it will end up on practice sticks to use it up.

A&R Shin Straps-$8.99

These are to be used in place of tape to keep your socks up.  There are four straps on the package, two for the upper leg and two for the lower.  They are 2″ wide elastic with Velcro closures.

Howies Friction Hockey Tape-$4.25

This tape is tacky on both sides so that you get more control over the puck.  We have received this before but I’m not sure how it went over.  I can only see this as being a good thing since I’ve seen this team play before.

Tacki-Mac Command Grip-$5.25

This is the grip that goes on the top of your stick.  It replaces the tape that would normally be there.  It has its own double sided tape that it comes with that you apply first, get that wet, and slide on the cover.  The website that sells them has some interesting ways of describing this item.  You can check it out for yourself here.

A&R Chin Strap-$5.99

This is another item in this box that might not get used by my Hubby.  This is a chin strap that is more highly suited to a younger player.  We know a few of those so I’m thinking this will find a home somewhere.

A&R Multi-Tool Screwdriver-$9.99

This is a small tool that you can keep in your hockey bag.  You can use this to attach visors or cages, repair helmets, or adjust masks.  It gives you a Phillips head, flat head, and an Allen wrench.  I’m sure this will be a great addition to the bench and locker room.

I wasn’t sure what types of things this box would send out and whether or not my hubby would like it.  Turns out, this is everything he could want in a hockey box.  It gave him a bunch of useful items that he would be buying anyway, plus some things that are helpful to his game.  This box had a value of $40.46, which is very low and less then the box price.  I have a few more months to go and then we’ll see if we renew.  I know Hubs is thrilled and wants it to be one we keep so we might have to work out a deal where I get back rubs or something.  If you want to check them out visit http://www.penaltybox.co/subscribe/

Glorious Life Soap Of The Month July 2017

Glorious Life is a Canadian company that makes handcrafted soap, skin, and body care products.  I found them on Etsy but they also have a website.  They make all their items in small batches and they are free from synthetic dyes and fragrances, preservatives, parabens, and phthalates.  They are all gluten free and most of them are vegan as well.  They offer 4, 6, and 12-month subscriptions, starting at $25.00, including shipping to Canada.  I was looking for something different and was happy to stumble across this one.

They ship the soap in a regular envelope and inside of that is this cardstock.  It wraps around the soap and keeps everything nice and safe.

Forest Fresh Natural Soap-$2.25

I am very happy to have received this one.  It was one that I have been waiting for all subscription and since this is my last bar, I put in a special request for it.  They had been sold out on the website so I wasn’t getting my hopes up but it’s here and I love it!  It is a blend of four pines and smells like the forest as opposed to Christmas.

I’m really glad to support a Canadian company and enjoy handcrafted bath products.  This is an inexpensive way to get a great selection of soaps and after browsing their site there is definitely a few soaps I’m hoping will show up in my mailbox.  If you sign up for their newsletter you can get 15% off your purchase and they have also sent me a code to get 3% off any further purchases from the site.

Esthoria Box/Botanic + Terre May/June 2017

Esthoria Box is a bi-monthly box that ships out either a Beauty box or a Lifestyle box.  The products included are green products and help to remove toxins and negative chemicals from your life.  The Beauty Box is $89.00 and the Lifestyle is $29.00.  Both options have added shipping costs.  You can choose to pay per box, a six-month term, or a twelve-month term.  Prices are in Canadian dollars.  If you go with one of the longer terms you actually meet their free shipping threshold and so shipping is not charged.  I am alway happy to find a new Canadian box.  The Beauty Box is out of my price range so I went with the Lifestyle one.  Time to see what they’ve sent out.

I’m slightly confused this month.  This box should have arrived in April or May.  It hadn’t shown up so I emailed them to let them know.  They apologised and said I definitely should have received it by the time I emailed them.  They mailed me out a new one but the label is not what I was expecting and inside seem to be beauty items. There is no card to let me know what should be here.  When I try to go to the old site I have links for it takes me to this one so they might have switched things up.  I have not received any notifications to let me know anything.

Native Nectar Botanical Body Oil-$20.00

This oil can be used as it is for a full body moisturiser or you can add a few drops to your bath.  It smells of the roses that are floating in the bottle.  It also has neroli and sandalwood oils in it.  This did soak in fairly fast but I can tell that there is an oil there.  I think I will save this for winter as it will be more useful to my skin then.

Birchrose + Co Body Polish-$22.00

This sugar scrub has a blend of ginger and citrus lavender with minerals to soothe skin while improving circulation.  It has actual pieces of the herbs in it along with the sugar.  I have a few scrubs in line right now but I think this one will be very nice once I get to it.

Bkind Hand Balm-$16.00

This is Forest scent, which is a blend of shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, fir needle, pine tree, and cedarwood essential oils.  This cream is very thick and you need to rub it in your hands to warm it slightly so you can rub it in.  The scent is not too strong and this will be another item that will be great come fall and winter.

Province Apothecary Regenerating + Stimulating Exfoliator-$16.00

This is a dry powder that you add water to in your hand to make a paste.  You rub it on your face and let the oatmeal, green tea, and lavender work their magic on you.  It is fine for all skin types and is safe for any septic systems.

This box was good. I’m very happy with the customer service I received as well.  The four items included this month have a value of $64.00.  I am going to have to find out what happened to the normal box as I was enjoying the household items. This time everything was in perfect condition upon arrival.

Sunday Mood Box July 2017

Sunday Mood is a monthly box that includes a mix of indie brands, vegan beauty lines, all natural bath & beauty products, handmade jewellery, cool niche household items, art, speciality teas, and healthy treats.  They offer to different sizes of box, a sample box that has 2-3 deluxe samples and 1 full-size item or the full-size box that contains 4-6 full-size products.  They are priced at $25 and $44 but do go down with longer plans.  Shipping to Canada is $10 per box.  This is another one I picked up on Mother’s Day for 50% off or I would never have given it a go.  There was an additional Customs charge when it arrived, so that is something to keep in mind if you order.

The box is branded and small enough to fit into a mailbox.  Inside things are nestled safely in their squiggles.

There is a card in the box that tells me that the box theme is Summer Camp this month.  The back of the card lists all the items that are hidden in here, with their prices and social media information.

Soy Campfire Candle-$6.00

Once again no matter what I do, this picture will only go sideways.  Sorry about that.  This candle smells like smoke and vanilla.  It is a little odd since why would you want your house to smell like a fire but the candle itself is nice and soy candles do burn well.

Motivate Room & Body Mist-$15.00

This mist says it has a woodsy smell with a blend of lime, rosemary, peppermint, and pine needles.  I don’t get any of those scents at all and I’m not sure if I like this or not.  I guess for a room spray it will be fine to cover up other scents.  It is not a smell that motivates me to do anything though.

Vegan Healing Salve-$20.00

This salve has something melted in with it but I don’t know what.  You can use this to heal cuts and scrapes, burns, or just plain dry skin.  It is made with St.John’s wart, calendula petals, and plantain leaf.  It doesn’t have very much of a scent and it’s soft so you can rub it in easily.

Mountain Adventures Necklace-$15.00

This necklace is nice.  It is handcrafted and hand carved.  It has a mountain scene on it.  The chain is a little light and cheap feeling but I like the pendant.  It fits the theme well too.

Vegan Kale & Pumpkin Seed Savory Snack Bar-$2.50

This says it is a blend of pea crisps, amaranth, rosemary, EVOO, and the kale and seeds.  It sounds horrible but I hope it’s not.  It is all natural, non-GMO and gluten free.  I always like to try new bars for snacks at work so this one will end up on my desk.

Vegan Sunflower Seed Crunchies Dutch Cocoa-$2.00

These ones look better to me than the previous ones.  They seem to be little cookies with sunflower seeds baked in.  They have protein and fibre in them as well.

I am happy with the box this month. Most of the items this month are great and I can’t wait to use them.  The value for this month is $60.50.  That is okay but I’d rather not have had the Customs fee on top.  With the discount I got I feel like the Queen of the world with this one.  I love it!!!  If you go to check it out they do have a code on their site that says will get you some type of a discount upon checkout.

Mindfulness Box June 2017

Mindfulness Box is a monthly subscription that aims to promote mindfulness, inner peace & balance.  It contains 4-6 inspiring goods that have been carefully curated to bring you Zen and positivity.  There can be Holistic or Homoeopathic health care products, handcrafted jewellery, or crystals.  They offer three different box types based on who is receiving the box, the standard box, a kids box, or a family box.  The standard and kids start at $29.00 and the family is $52.00 per month.  Boxes do go down slightly with longer plans and shipping to here was $15.00 a month.  This is one of the boxes I snagged on Mother’s Day at 50% off and is one I would normally not get due to the price.  I am excited to see what’s inside as the images of past boxes look great.

This box is so tiny!! I think it’s even smaller than the one from last month.  Everything has absolutely no room to wiggle around and get damaged.  The happy little guy is inside and out.

They have an info card all tucked up in there.  It lets us know that the theme this month is Peace Has Arrived and tells a little about each item that is in the box.  It lets you know how to use the items and what their value is.

Bella Luna Luz Zuma Crystal-Infused Aromatherapy Mist-$12.00

This smells like the tropics do.  It is a blend of coconut, pineapple, papaya, kiwi, orange, and watermelon.  Like the one last month, this bottle has a crystal in it.  This one is made to ground you and refresh your senses.  It smells great and I have been using the other one every day, multiple times so I can’t see that changing with this one.

Bella Luna Luz Zuma Organic Crystal Infused Aromatherapy Soy Candle-$12.00

The candle smells amazing.  You can see the addition of the shells and quartz that are right in it.  It is the same blend as above and has the same benefits, just in a way that can help your whole room instead of you alone.

Brass String Bells-$5.00

These bells have the most beautiful and clear tone to them.  They can be used as windchimes or door chimes.  They recommend that every time you hear them tinkle that you take a moment to connect with the air and yourself.

Crystal Window Quartz-$5.00

This beautiful pink and white stone is a meditation crystal.  The one I received is Rose Quartz, which is for Love and Heart Chakra.  The white outside reveals the one polished side that is the window to the wonder on the inside.  They are found in the Elbe river in Brazil.

California White Sage & Red Abalone Shell-$12.00

It’s very hard to see the shell in the picture but I didn’t want to open it and make a huge mess.  This is used for smudging and cleansing an area.  You light the sage and then blow it out so that you have only the smoke left.  You can use it to clean a room, a house, a person, or your crystals.  I have seen smudging done but have never used it myself.  This is something that is not to be taken lightly or as a joke.  It is a highly ritualised act that has been used for hundreds of years.

I have to say I”m very happy with my second box from them.  All of the items included definitely are geared to making me relax and step away from the crazy of life.  These things are all going to be used and hopefully, add to my life.  The value of this month was $46.00, which is very good for what I paid.

LookFantastic Beauty Box June 2017

Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a box from the UK and you will receive a minimum of six products.   Those products will be an assortment of skin, hair, cosmetic and body products.  There also are sometimes high-value surprises added to a few boxes randomly.  They promise to have a much higher value than what you pay each month as well.  They have free worldwide delivery on the boxes or things you order from the website. Boxes are $26 a month but go down with 3,6 or 12-month subscriptions.  Shipping was pretty quick for overseas and I received tracking notices as well.  The stuff I’ve been getting in this box has been really nice.  This one was a find and I really enjoy it.  I had ended my subscription but with the exchange rate being better right now and the fact that I love this box I signed back up.

The box is very colourful this month.  The theme is Wanderlust and I’m going to guess this is full of things I could take on the road with me.

They have a mini mag that tells you all about your items, lifestyle tips, and beauty options.  They also include the latest copy of ElleUK magazine.

Kerastase Shampoo-$7.90 80mL

Well, I’m going to start by complaining about getting only a shampoo and not the matching conditioner.  Now that that’s out of the way, I’m kinda excited about this.  This is a brand I’ve never tried and have always wanted to.  This version of it is a strengthening shampoo and I can use that with my long hair.  It looks like maybe there were different versions sent out to people.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads-$21.24

These pads are filled with toner so you can swipe them across your face and neck after cleansing.  They have a blend of lactic and glycolic acids in them that is supposed to help refresh and revitalise your skin.

Balance Me Balancing Face Moisturiser-$16.99

This is not the nicest smelling lotion but it is supposed to help reduce shine, brighten the skin, and even out skin tone.  If it can do all of that just a little bit, then it is worth the smell.  It absorbed into my skin very quickly and it feels soft and smooth.

Hailey Baldwin for Model Co Super Lips Lipgloss in Beige-$15.00

I’m guessing a bit on the price of this one as I don’t know how big the actual one is but this is 3mL.  I was concerned about the shade but once you get it spread around on your lips it is fine.  It smells like fruit too!  It is not sticky on my lips at all.

Bellapierre Shimmer Highlighter in Excite-$17.70

This is a white powder that can be used as a highlighter or a shadow.  It is very shimmery and since I don’t use highlighters, this is going to become an eyeshadow for me.  I like the shade and will just have to be gentle with how much I use.

Monu Rosewood Reviving Mist-$5.73

This is a facial mist of lemon, rosewood, and sandalwood to revive you and your fatigued skin.  It will even fix your makeup on days that are warm and might cause melting.  I use facial mists all the time in the summer to keep me up and this will be a good addition to that.

This month has a value of $84.56.  The mix of items was great, once again. The best part about LookFantastic is that they have sales all the time and free worldwide shipping so if you want more of anything or find other things on their site it’s simple to get.  I’m really glad I went for them again and the new billing procedure is simpler than before so there are no worries there. This is my last box from them again and I’m sad but I think it’s time to try new things.  If you are looking for a beauty box to try, this would have to be my recommendation, hands down.
