LookFantastic Beauty Box February 2017

Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a box from the UK and you will receive a minimum of six products.   Those products will be an assortment of skin, hair, cosmetic and body products.  There also are sometimes high-value surprises added to a few boxes randomly.  They promise to have a much higher value than what you pay each month as well.  They have free worldwide delivery on the boxes or things you order from the website. Boxes are $26 a month but go down with 3,6 or 12-month subscriptions.  Shipping was pretty quick for overseas and I received tracking notices as well.  The stuff I’ve been getting in this box has been really nice.  This one was a find and I really enjoy it.  I had ended my subscription but with the exchange rate being better right now and the fact that I love this box I signed back up.

This month has the ever recyclable Elle UK magazine and the actual box, Runway Ready.

The mini mag inside has what you’re getting, tips on new looks, trends, and articles based on the theme.  This one was all about Fashion Week.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA-$8.67

I don’t know why but I wasn’t expecting this to be thick.  It has absolutely no scent to it either.  This is supposed to put water back into your skin so you look and feel incredible. It did soak in super fast and to touch my skin you’d never know I had just applied anything.  I’m really in love with the current moisturizer I’m using but I think this one will be okay too.

This Works Stress Check Breathe In-$17.70

This tiny little roller ball is filled with ” The dreamy scent is enriched with Eucalyptus to counter physical and mental fatigue, whilst Frankincense essential oil delivers antiseptic benefits. Complete with Lavender oil, Stress Check helps those suffering from insomnia, nervous tension and hypertension. Expect to feel de-stressed and thoroughly relaxed.” I like the way it smells and it can’t hurt to roll some on just before bed.

Borghese Fango Mud Mask-$8.17

I just have to say I thought this was a coffee pod at first…..oops.  This is the restorative version of their masks and it’s for face and body.  It is supposed to relieve all the things that make your skin cranky and leave you soft and smooth at the end.  You rub it on for 5-10 minutes and then wash it off.

Polaar Icy Magic Roll On-$?

Oooooo…..it really does feel icy on your skin.  This is a roller ball to help reduce puffiness and dark circles under your eyes.  It has a blend of plant ingredients.  It also apparently will help with eyelash growth.  I think I like it!

Model Co Eye Lites Metallic Shadow in St.Barts-$?

This is a very sparkly eye shadow.  It’s the kind you need to put a dab on and then rub it in with your finger so you don’t look like you just stepped out of a 70’s disco.  I like the pinky colour and I rarely shy away from glitter so this works for me.

Myvitamins Catwalk Queen-$12.38

This is not the first time I’ve received vitamins from this box but it’s still weird when it happens.  These ones have vitamins C, D3, copper, selenium, iodide, zinc, and biotin in them.  They are supposed to be the right combination for boosting hair, skin, and nails.  They have a long best before day as well.

This month I’m not doing a value because I couldn’t price two of the items included. The mix of items was great, once again. The best part about LookFantastic is that they have sales all the time and free worldwide shipping so if you want more of anything or find other things on their site it’s simple to get.  I’m really glad I went for them again and the new billing procedure is simpler than before so there are no worries there.  If you are looking for a beauty box to try, this would have to be my recommendation, hands down.

KidPackz February 2017

KidPackz is a monthly delivery of school supplies.  They send out things that your children might need for either home or school based on the grade level and gender of your child.  They don’t offer a kindergarten box so we chose the Grade 1 level.  They also include an educational toy in each box.  For summer months they say they will include more games and toys instead of supplies.  Boxes start at $15 per month but go down with longer plans.  Shipping to Canada is $2.50 per box.  I love school supplies and quite honestly could supply my children for most of their school lives but this will get us more things and provide both them and me with shiny new items to use.

Well after a few more months of not receiving this one and having them refund a few of them, a box has actually shown up.  Once I got it open I saw that it’s basically the same as it is every time.

Another box of crayons.  I’d be upset about this if we didn’t end up needing a new box of them every few months.  This has just made it simpler.  For the first ten times, we use them the box gets refilled nicely and then we just toss them in a baggie and hope for the best.

The markers I can do with them not sending again.  Markers are a bit off limits for the girls so we now have three packs in a drawer for the future.  I guess they’ll be useful at some point.

In the pencil case, which at least is more kid like than normal, we have the collection of erasers, pencil sharpeners, pencils, and a glue stick that normally shows up.  All of these things are great to have on hand but I am especially glad for the sharpener and the glue stick.  Those things seem to disappear somewhere.

This is a good notebook and if it makes it until one of the kids needs it for school, it’s fine.  It will probably be put to use as scrap paper way before then though.

One shiny portfolio in pink…..check.  I don’t know why they put this in the box but at least it’s pink and the girls love them.

The activity this time is a Sand Art Kit.  I think this looks too difficult and messy for me to do, let alone my 5-year-old.  I don’t care what that recommended age says.  I’ll tuck this away and it may just become part of a birthday present for some other child.

As I mentioned above, I am surprised that they repeated so many items.  I had thought they would send out a few things that are common repeatedly but not back to back months.  The items are good and all usable.   They did a good job making some of it items my girls are into and like.  If you sign up now you can use the code “LAUNCH” to get 5% off your order.

My Christmas Crate February 2017

My Christmas Crate is a monthly box of items to celebrate the festive time of the year, all year long.  Boxes can include anything that might help bring back memories or feelings, such as home decor, culinary items, accessories, candles, kitchen items, and more.  Boxes are $29.95 a month and you will get 3-5 items.  I love Christmas and as soon as December starts I’m wearing Xmas gear and singing carols so this box is right up my alley.  I missed out on their first box that had an awesome mug in it but I’m hoping that there are equally great things in the boxes I do get.

The box is full of things I can’t see!  At this point I can identify a straw……at least it’s red.

The do send a pretty info card with each month.  On the back are the bare basics, what it is and where you can get it.

Let It Snow Tumber-$10.95

Come next winter I am all over using this!!!!  It’s not overly decorated and so I can use it from November to February with no problems.  It’s 16oz and needs to be hand washed.  The straw has the little bump on it so you can’t pull it right out of the lid when it’s screwed on.  I like it!

Holiday Hot/Cold Mulling Spice-$7.95

I’ve never had mulled anything so this is a curious thing for me.  Inside this tin are cassia bark, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg.  They thankfully gave some instructions as well on how to make both wine cider using this so that’s helpful.

Glass Valentine Heart Tree Ornament-$?

This is very pretty and the picture doesn’t so it justice.  It has a great aged patina and it has quite a bit of detail in the texture of it.  You could very easily use this for both holidays and no one would think you’re odd.  I can’t get a price for it since you have to be a wholesaler to see any pricing on the site but it’s something I like.

Santa’s Luggage Tag-$?

How cute is this guy????  He seems to not be on the site any longer so I can’t price him either but I think he’s adorable.  I don’t do much traveling so I don’t need him but I might put him on my bag anyways just because.

I am very happy with My Christmas Crate.  There was a good mix of items from all categories.  My favourite item this month is the tumbler. If you sign up for their newsletter you can get 10% off your purchases.  I only got this one for a few months but I think it might become one of my favorite boxes yet.

Mighty Fix March 2017

Mighty Fix is a monthly subscription that sends you one product a month that can help your family live healthier.  Boxes start at $10.00 per month and there is a slight discount for a yearly join.  Shipping to Canada is $3.00 per month and free to the US.  You also have the option to add any items from their shop to your order each month with no extra shipping fees.  They also send out emails with member only deals on items all through the month.  This was another one I had really wanted to try but they’ve only recently opened up shipping to Canada.  Once I found that out I jumped on board to see what I could get that would make my life healthier and hopefully easier too.

I have yet to have this one ship in anything but a bag.  I’m thinking that they are always going to send smaller items that fit easily in these.

The front of the card tells you about what you are getting.  On the back is a tip or recipe that you can use with whatever the monthly item is.  This time it is a couple of DIY cleaning recipes and places to use the item.

Tidy Dish Cloths-$11.65 for 5

These are a really nice dishcloth.  I can’t even think of the last time I bought any and if you looked at the ones we’re using in this house you could tell that.  They are 100% organic cotton and are absorbent and scrubbing.  They are meant to be a replacement for paper towels as well as your dish washing cloths.

I’m back to being happy with the offerings this month.  These are something we will for sure use and that come at a good time for us. I’m getting to try some things I’m sure I would never just buy and they are easy ways to make simple changes to try and keep my home and family in better health.  I’m glad that they opened up to Canada and can’t wait to see what other crazy things they send me next.

LoveLula Beauty Box March 2017

LoveLula Beauty Box is a UK box that is filled with natural beauty products and brands without having to purchase the full sized versions first.  Individual boxes are $52.50 British Pounds a month or a yearly option of $210 British Pounds.  That price includes the shipping fee.  I have had great luck with the other British box I get so while the British exchange was down a bit I went ahead and got this one.

The only good thing I can say about opening a box and finding those squiggles is, that in this one at least they are plain brown coloured.  I can see a few things peeking out from under the info card but it did a good job of making it difficult to decipher.

The card tells you what items you are getting this month and a little about them.  It has the total box value as well.

Seascape Unwind Body Wash-$27.68

Ooooo….I love a full sized body wash!  This smells so nice too.  It contains ingredients from the island of Jersey (UK not US) that help with a tranquil feeling.  It is scented with essential oils and all of the packagings are recyclable.  It seems to go in waves but I have received a bunch of body wash in the last little while so I’m going to have to wait to use this one but it’ll be hard.

PHB Hand Cream-$18.93

Another full sized item!  This hand cream is very thick.  It held its shape as I pumped it out.  It is neroli and ylang-ylang and smells so fruity.  This one is made to brighten your skin and your senses, which it does.  It does leave my hands a bit greasy but I think it’s so rich that it has no choice.  It is vegan, cruelty-free, and halal, which I think is a first for me.

Hurraw! Papaya & Pineapple Lip Balm-$8.63

This is mostly pineapple smelling.  The oils are cold pressed and help to soften and quiet inflammation.  I like that they have it in the oval shape, it’s quickly becoming a favourite lip balm shape for me.  This is also full sized.

Laidbare For Richer For Porer-$13.81

This is a clay face mask.  It will help with imperfections and reduce your pores, hence the pun with the name.  You leave it on a clean face for ten minutes once a week.  The little bit I squeezed out had some hard particles in it so I don’t know if it was just off or if it has exfoliating abilities as well.

Kimberly Sayer Sample-$0.57

This is a sample of the Ultra Light Facial Moisturizer SPF30.  They’ve included it so you can hopefully fall in love with it and then order more at full price, less the 20% off you get on all brands include for the month.

My eighth box from LoveLula is still very good.  It is full of skincare products but that is mostly what they have on their site so it’s not a surprise.  The value this time is $69.62 and there were four full sized items. I’m not always going to seek out natural products but everything I’ve tried has worked well and if I had a complaint, it would be that some of them have quite strong smells that I don’t particularity enjoy.

Real Soaps Soap Of The Month April 2017

Real Soaps is a company out of Chicago making handmade soaps and natural body care products.  They don’t use any sulphates, parabens, phthalates and are cruelty-free. They also have no dyes, preservatives, or artificial ingredients and only pure essential oils for scents.  I found them on Etsy but they also have a website.  You can buy individual soaps or they have six and twelve-month plans starting at $47.00 and shipping to Canada was under $20 for the whole term.  I’m not sure why I’m on a soap kick lately but they are fun to get.

This month, since everything went as it was supposed to, the one bar of soap is Bliss.  This one is a blend of lavender, orange, geranium, jasmine, and white pepper.  You would think will all that going on it would be overpowering but it’s not.  I like this smell and it says it will help to achieve the perfect level of happiness.  This soap is nice and I think it’ll move up the pile to get used.

I am always looking for bath type products and soap is such an easy way to shake up your routine.  I tend to not share these with my family but it I find a scent that is too strong or not to my liking then I give it to my hubby who is less picky.  That won’t be happening with this one!

There was a little note tucked into the envelope this month.  It turns out that the USPS lost a whole bunch of things and February’s soap was part of that.  This month gives us two soaps and a bonus item for any inconvenience.

February’s soap is a Rosemary & Lavender blend.  It has antimicrobial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties.  It is also calming and relaxing.  It smells great and I will be using this one.  March gives us Oatmeal & Lavender.  It is softer in scent than the first one and the oatmeal softens hair and removes itchiness.  The included card also says that you can use this to wash your beard if you have one.

The bonus lip balm that they included is Clary Sage, Lemon, and Lavender.  It smells a touch medicinal but it feels very nice on my lips and I think it’ll make them soft and healthy.

The Penalty Box March 2017

The Penalty Box is a monthly subscription that sends out items for hockey players.  They promise to include basic items, skills training, performance wear, and deals.  They offer two different plans, The Minor Leaguer, and The Penalty Box.  Whichever one you choose, you then get to pick from three age levels, Age 13 and Under, 13+, and Beer Leaguer, which determines the items that will be in your box.  Prices start at $29.99 a month and go up from there.  They also do a Grab Bag for $21.99 a month that is a mix of anything. They have an online shop that sells some items individually as well.  My Hubby has been after me for a while to find him a box and one that is hockey related to boot.  That has been impossible until this one so let’s see if we can make him happy with whatever is inside. I also want to mention that I only know things about hockey that have been absorbed by osmosis so if I’m wildly off in describing something, that’s why.

Well, I guess there’s a hat in here.  That and the info card are all I can see at this point.

They send out a card that lists all the possible items you might receive based on your box type.  The card also lets you know a little about what they have going on each month and how you can get more of something you liked.

Howie’s Clear Shin Pad Tape-$4.50

I always thought this was called sock tape, who knew?  The seem to send out at least one roll of Howie’s tape per box but it seems to be something that is always needed so there have been no complaints.

A&R Sports Low Bounce Hockey Ball-$4.00

This street hockey ball is made to be used when it’s warmer than 60 degrees F.  I guess you could use this to practice your skills if you didn’t play street hockey.

Epic Wipes The Massive Wet Wipe-$2.50

This package contains one big ass wipe.  It is 31.5″x19.7″.  You can use it to get your whole manly body clean in those times you just can’t get to a shower.  It is biodegradable and made from bamboo fibers.

Howie’s Post Game Lid-$25.00

This hat has the traditional trucker hat snap back.  It has the Howie’s brand name on it in a few places but nothing loud or obnoxious.  Hubs said he likes it and it fits him so I guess it’s a win.

Howie’s Hockey Scissors-$8.00

These are a 6″ pair of scissors with stainless steel blades for cutting your hockey tape.  According to the website, they will cut cleanly and not snag your tape so you can achieve the perfect wrap on your stick.

Swedish Wood Stick-Handling Ball-$3.95

So this is used to increase your handling of the puck.  You practice with this little, light, wood ball and by gaining control of it, you become a better puck handler.  Or so Google tells me.

Vitalsox Performance Graduated Compression Socks-$35.00

Holy expensive socks Batman!  These extra special socks, (for $35 they must be), are made to boost your performance, stimulate blood circulation, relieve cramps, and are wicking.  They even have a padded footbed.

wasn’t sure what types of things this box would send out and whether or not my hubby would like it.  Turns out, this is everything he could want in a hockey box.  It gave him a bunch of useful items that he would be buying anyways, plus some things that are helpful to his game.  This box had a value of $82.95, which is one of the higher values we’ve received.  I know Hubs is thrilled and wants this box to be one we keep so we might have to work out a deal where I get back rubs or something.  If you want to check them out visit http://www.penaltybox.co/subscribe/

Glorious Life Soap Of The Month April 2017

Glorious Life is a Canadian company that makes handcrafted soap, skin, and body care products.  I found them on Etsy but they also have a website.  They make all their items in small batches and they are free from synthetic dyes and fragrances, preservatives, parabens, and phthalates.  They are all gluten free and most of them are vegan as well.  They offer 4, 6, and 12-month subscriptions, starting at $25.00, including shipping to Canada.  I was looking for something different and was happy to stumble across this one.

This soap ships in a regular envelope and inside that it is wrapped in cardstock.  They always include a little message on the paper.

This months soap is Plain & Simple.  This one has no preservatives, detergents, dyes, gluten, artificial colours or fragrances.  If just kinda smells like soap.  It is from their organic line.  The bar is 63g and retails for $3.25.

I’m really glad to support a Canadian company and enjoy handcrafted bath products.  This is an inexpensive way to get a great selection of soaps and after browsing their site there is definitely a few soaps I’m hoping will show up in my mailbox.  If you sign up for their newsletter you can get 15% off your purchase and they have also sent me a code to get 3% off any further purchases from the site.

Loves It Newfoundland Box March 2017

Loves It is a box of Newfoundland sourced, hand crafted, home made items.  They are proudly sending out boxes of items they purchase from those local suppliers so that they can show off the greatness of their artists, crafters, and businesses.  They offer both a Standard or a Premium box and monthly or quarterly subscriptions.  Boxes start at $35.00 a month but do go down with longer plans.  There will be 4-7 items per box and they say they will range in value from $40-$75.  I am always on the lookout for Canadian boxes and so while I’m not from Newfoundland nor have I ever been there I was still interested in this box.

The box was heavy on one side this time and missing the do not cut warning.  Inside had a book of some sort on top and a few other things I couldn’t see.

First out of the box is a Hometown Pride sticker.  It has the provincial colours and outline of the province on it.  This one is not suited for me to use but thankfully one of my husband’s coworkers is a Newfie and I think we’ll give this to him.

Claire’s Community Cookbook

This cookbook is a collection of recipes put together in support of a little girl who had Cerebral Palsy.  Every one of the cookbooks sold gives a donation to her charity.  I like this kind of cookbook as they tend to have more recipes of things I might actually make then say one from a celebrity chef.

Tval Ginger Handmade Soap-$5.00

This soap smells very nice.  It doesn’t have a crazy ginger scent and also has cocoa butter for softening.  I have quite a bit of soap to use up but once I get to this one it’ll be a good one.

Foggy Island Candles in Bakeapple-$6.00

This candle smells wonderful!  It is one of their pie in a jar candles.  I’m not sure what the scent is, as it’s not regular apple pie.  It has a sweet smell.  All of the candles I’ve received from them before have burned well and given a smell to the whole house, so I don’t think this one will be any different.

Indigena Blueberry Bliss Face Masque-$12.00

This powder just needs to be mixed with water to make a paste and applied.  It is good for acne and as a clarifying mask to remove excess oils for smoother skin.  It smells like slightly rotten blueberries in it’s powder form but all of the reviews for it say it’s amazing so I will give it a try.

Crochet Bath Puff by Cheerio Creations

My crochet skills are nowhere near good enough to make something like this. This puff is made out of the same yarn you’d use for a dishcloth, so it’ll stand up to body scrubbing well.  I think variegated yarns are the best and I buy them just to have them.  This really is a great thing in this box.

I thought last month was my last box from Loves It but I got this one.  As normal, I still never have any clue what to expect to be in it besides it all being from Newfoundland.  There is a good mix of products. I just wish for a few of the thing that they would tell me what or why it was included. Value is always hard for this box as I don’t always know where things are from. Only one of the items this month is a duplicate so that is way better than last time.  I will still let them know since they have specifically asked about it.  If you want to check them out click here to go to their site.
