White Willow October 2016

White Willow is a monthly lifestyle box that sends out surprise items from beauty, fashion, home, culinary, or all around lifestyle themes.  They ship out four to five items and are a Canadian company.  That makes me so happy I was okay paying slightly more than I normally would for a box.  They promise a value of $70, so let’s hope they meet that.  Subscriptions start at $35 a month but do go down a bit with longer plans.  Shipping to here is $8.50/month.  They are changing all that up starting now.  If you subscribe now you will get boxes every other month.  Anyone who was already on a plan will continue to get boxes monthly until their time is up.

20161012_174859 20161012_174915

They do such a good job on the packaging of this box.  I know I say it every month, but it’s way above some of the other boxes I get and everything arrives in perfect condition and there is always something that could break or leak and just be a big mess.

20161012_174925 20161012_174936

They do a great job on their info card as well.  It has lovely pictures, a brief bit about each item, and a value for them.

Rose Gold Mirror Photo Frame-$22.00

So it seems I don’t have a photo of this one…..not really sure what happened there.  You can see it in the card above.  It is very shiny and beautiful.  It would look nice with a family picture or maybe one of my Hubby and I, except those don’t exist in our house.  I’m sure eventually I’ll find a picture that will work.  It holds a 4x6in photo.

20161012_174952 20161012_175005

Juicy Bamboo Gentle Facial Cleansing Oil Cloths by Kaia Naturals-$15.50

These are award winning cleansing cloths and instead of stripping the skin of everything good along with your makeup they leave the natural oils you want.  The packaging is cute but it’ll be a little while before I use these since I have a bit of a stockpile of cleansing cloths.

Maple Pumpkin Butter by Wildly Delicious-$6.50

I have no idea what I would use this for.  I don’t like pumpkin anything so this doesn’t appeal to me right off the bath.  Maybe I will need to have this go into a gift for someone else?? Shhhh, don’t tell.

Large Blanket Scarf-$40.00

This is my first blanket scarf.  It is warm and Christmassy and I’m sure I don’t know how to wear it.  I have a basic idea based on seeing other people wear them so I guess I will just go with that and see if someone says what the hell are you doing?

Pumpkin Spice Lindt Truffles-Bonus

Gah!!! Why of all the flavours of these that exist would they have to pick the one that I have zero desire to eat???  Maybe I will take these to work, where free chocolate is never questioned.

Box number seven…..awesome. The value this time is $84.00.  This month had items that are so-so for me.  I like the scarf and the photo frame but the pumpkin items are just not for me.   Sometimes you find things you can no longer live without and sometimes not so much.  I am always happy to find a Canadian box and this one is a good one! If you want to try them out click here.

Paper & Pen November 2016

Paper & Pen is a monthly subscription box that promises to send out 3-4 paper goods and supplies each month.  They pick items from around the globe and send those unique items to you.  Boxes start at $20 a month but go down with longer plans.  Shockingly for me, shipping is free!  Let’s see what they sent out!

20161119_174644 20161119_174703

They make this look like such a nice little present.  Inside is your stack of pretty things.

Planner Clip

I have received a few different planner clips in boxes lately and this one is super cute.  I switch out the one I use every once in a while so this one will work for many different seasons with no problems.

Gratitude Notepad

This is a thoughtful thing to include.  It has 50 sheets that say “I’m Grateful For” and a space for a date.  It might make you take the time to pause and try to find things to write down.

20161119_174758 20161119_174811

Cynthia Rowley Pen

This is a black ink pen, inscribed with the Cynthia Rowley name.  It writes nicely and is a very shiny gold colour.  It’s a slightly odd inclusion but that’s okay.

Thank You Cards

There is a set of four cards with envelopes.  They are gold embossed with dots and are blank on the inside. You can’t go wrong with a good thank you card and they are always handy to have.

I’ve been happy with this box.  There is not a ton of stuff in it but that was made clear in their info.  I couldn’t find prices on most of the stuff this month.  I like that some of the products are from smaller companies and Etsy companies.  It shows that they really do search out interesting items instead of just buying lots off Amazon.

The Fan Empire October 2016

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 pieces of fandom merchandise.  Items can be anything from posters to t-shirts and are based around a different theme each month.  Previous fandoms include The Hunger Games and Harry Potter.  Boxes start at $14.95 a month but do go down a little with a longer plan.  Shipping to Canada was $5.50.  I am always wary of the fandom boxes because if you get a month that is not one of yours then it can feel like a waste.  Let’s see how we get on with this one.

The bubble mailer is such a fun colour.  They add a sticker logo to let you know who sent you something fun

20161119_175001 20161119_175008

They do include an info card, which they also consider a print so therefore it’s included on the item list.  This is a Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Symbol Postcard, valued at $5.00.  The theme this month is “Fandom Symbols”.

Gold Plated Lightening Bolt Necklace-$22.00

I love this!  It is delicate and while die-hard fans will know what it’s about, you can get away with showing your HP love without everyone knowing.  This came from and Etsy shop.

Multi-Fandom Charm Bracelet-$20.00

So this covers pretty much every fandom there is.  I can’t even name all of them but there is Doctor Who, Sherlock, Game Of Thrones, Harry Potter, and eight more.  It is quite heavy and very jingly on my wrist.  This would definitely not be an every day wear but once in a while it’ll be good.  This is also from Etsy.

Gold Multi-Fandom Keychain-$6.00

So once again my fandom knowledge fails me and I can’t identify all the symbols.  There is the Hunger Games, Harry Potter and two more that I don’t know.  It’s a bit bendy of metal to stand up to much use but it should be okay for a little while. This is off of Etsy too.

The Four Elements 14×14″ Pillow Case-$18.00

So this is totally awesome!!!!!  It has a zipper on the bottom so you can stuff a pillow form into it and make your house way cooler than it had been seconds before.  I need to get me some forms because this is the second case I’ve received and I need them out and in my life.  You can find this at Redbubble.

Once again this one came really, really late.  She says she lets everyone on social media know and occasionally sends an email to subscribers to let them know the same thing.  I just expect them to be super late into the next month.  There were a few things I really enjoyed this time and then the keychain is just not for me.  I have no idea what will show up in this bag and the themes never match what the website says so I’ll wait and see.

Teacher’s Black Box October 2016

Teacher’s  Black Box is a box of items which will include “basic and innovative supplies to enhance their educational impact”.  Now I am not a teacher but if you put a chance to get stationery in front of me, there’s only a small chance I’ll turn it down.  They also say there will be a snack in every box.  Boxes start at $20.00 but go down with longer terms.  Normally the shipping on this one would have stopped me from ordering but they were offering a promo code “ONETIME” that gave you free shipping on orders over $50.  That code is still valid so make sure you use it if you want to sign up.  Let’s see what joy they have delivered to me today.

20161028_134715 20161028_134726

Have I mentioned before how much I hate these paper packing bits?? These ones are worse then normal actually because they are made from shredded tissue paper instead of regular paper.  Okay….moving on….I could see a few things that looked interesting from this peek.  There is not an info card included so you just have to go by what you see.

20161028_134741 20161028_134746

The first thing out was this Brown Glitter Tape.  As you can see the paper is stuck all over the side of the tape.  That won’t affect the use but it’s just annoying.  This is a fancy washi tape and I use washi on letters and this one will be good for decorating as well.

This is cool.  It is double sided tape but it’s like MacTac and removable.  The girls are starting to enjoy having posters on their walls so this will come in handy.

They promise a snack in each box and here it is.  I enjoy fruit snacks and these will go in my snack bag to fill my lunch kit.

I was just thinking at work the other day that I needed magnets or some type of clip to hold papers in my cubical and now these have shown up.  Taking them to work tomorrow.

As October was Breast Cancer Awareness month there was a few things to reflect that.  We have a whistle, which I don’t know that I’ll use often but it’s good to have around. A pen on a rope, not my best choice of options but I can see how for an actual teacher it would be handy. There are also two Papermate click pens, still pink for awareness.

There is a paper fan for Breast Cancer as well.  I will give this to the girls and have it be destroyed within a day.  They are too vicious with things like this but boy do they love them!

OMG! Another perfect hook for my needs!  This has a super powerful magnet on the back and it’ll hold a fair degree of weight with no problems.

Last out of the box were these two breast cancer bracelets.  I don’t wear these type of bracelets but the girls will enjoy them as well.

I think this box was better than my first.  I can see how these things would be useful for a teacher and they also work well for those of us who love these things.  I’m not sure how any of these particular items are innovative but maybe I’m missing that part of it.   You can find this box on CrateJoy if you are interested.

Juneberry November 2016

Juneberry Box is a bi-monthly subscription box that sends out 4-5 full-sized lifestyle items.  These may include jewelry, accessories, make-up or wellness products.  They are a Canadian company as well.  Boxes start at $28.50 every two months but go down with longer plans.  Shipping within Canada is free.  If you sign up for their newsletter you can get a code for $15.00 off a subscription.  Let’s check out what Juneberry has sent!

20161110_124852 20161110_124907

This sub ships in a bright purple box with the logo all over it.  Inside is wrapped with purple paper and  things are hidden from view on first opening.

20161110_124917 20161110_124922

There is an info card that tells you a bit about the theme and what items you are getting this time.

Once I got past the paper, the box looked a little empty, but it smelled great!

Golden Antler Necklace-$15.00

I really like this!  It is fun and cute and I will wear this one for sure.  It is a good length and while it’s not real gold, it is well done and doesn’t look cheap.  Box is off to a good start.

Wall Butterfly Decor-$8.00

This collection of twelve comes with sticky tabs to make a design on your wall.  I think my Hubby would be quite upset if I tries to do this in the living room or bedroom but maybe in my sewing room or the girls rooms I can pull it off.

20161110_124943 20161110_124952

Artisanal Handmade Bark Pencils-$5.00

I think these are cool and I don’t even want to use them.  The big one is a normal pencil and the small one is a pencil crayon.  These fit a wilderness theme quite well.

Organic Nature Soaps-$4.00

These are what smells so good in the box.  There are two bars with no info at all so I don’t know what scents or where they came from.  Soap is always good though.

Branch Hair Pin-$10.00

This is a gold plated bobby pin with a branch attached it.  I think this will make a cute accessory and I’ll need to figure out a way to work this into my routine.

Everything in this months box fit the theme really well.  They included a mix of things that you wouldn’t expect.  The box has a value of $42.00.  They have been sending out very different things from month to month so it’s always a surprise what I’m going to find when I open this one up.  Shipping was quick as well due to them being a Canadian company.  If you want to check them out click here.

LookFantastic Beauty Box November 2016

Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a box from the UK and you will receive a minimum of six products.   Those products will be an assortment of skin, hair, cosmetic and body products.  There also are sometimes high value surprises added to a few boxes randomly.  They promise to have a much higher value than what you pay each month as well.  They have free worldwide delivery on the boxes or things you order from the website. Boxes are $26 a month but go down with 3,6 or 12 month subscriptions.  Shipping was pretty quick for overseas and I received tracking notices as well.  The stuff I’ve been getting in this box has been really nice.  This one was a find and I really enjoy it.  I had ended my subscription but with the exchange rate being better right now and the fact that I love this box I signed back up.

20161112_153325 20161112_153336

I guess the sun was shinning all over everything when I took the pictures.  Sorry about that.  They have sent out a very festive box this month!  The theme is Sparkle and the box certainly does that.  They send out a copy of ElleUK with each box as well.

20161112_153354 20161112_153412

Inside the lid is a quote that relates to the theme.  Everything is wrapped up safely and travels it’s long journey to me with no issues.

They have a mini mag instead of an info card.  Inside is all about your items, a gift guide, more products to help you in the season, style help, and a contest.

L’oreal Professional Mythic Oil-30mL $7.18

This is a hair oil that will add shine and gloss to your dry hair.  It uses avocado and grape seed oil to nourish and protect.  It also minimizes frizz and flyaways.  My hair is super long so my ends do tend to take a beating and get a little fuzzy.  This should help.

Monu Recovery Balm-25mL $21.38

This is a balm to help make your skin great all winter long.  They recommend that you wear it at night.  It is full of natural ingredients and should help to reduce redness, calm skin, and soothe irritation.  It does feel slightly thicker then some others, which makes sense in a night cream.  I always seem to use up night creams quickly so I’m glad to see a new one here.

Look Good Feel Better Angled Blending Brush

This is an eyeshadow brush that is designed to contour and shade perfectly.  It is made of man-made fibers and is super soft.  I switch out my brushes once they get grungy so it’s good to have a few backups on hand.

Model Co Blush Cheek Powder in Peach Bellini

This is a shimmery peach colour.  It has gold undertones and I think it’ll be a good change from the pinks I tend to wear.  It says it also helps absorb oil and shine for all day good looks.

Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray-50mL $12.88

I always hope these things work in my hair and am then left as flat as my hair when they don’t.  This spray is made to lift your hair and provide volume.  My hair is fine and long and as a result I want volume and lift.  Maybe this one will be that magical one I’m searching for.

Bloom And Blossom Revitalizing Foot And Leg Spray-50mL $11.97

This completely stinks….however…..since it’s going on my feet that doesn’t really matter.  It is supposed to help with water tension and make your tired legs feel fresh and happy again.  I do have an Xmas party coming up that will test my poor tootsies in heels for hours so I think right after getting home this will be going on.

20161112_153445 20161112_153450

LookFantastic Nail File-Bonus

They tossed in a nail file and I’m always looking for one at work so I think this will end up there.

This month had a value of $53.41, plus the blush and brush I couldn’t value. This month’s mix was great. The best part about LookFantastic  is that they have sales all the time and free worldwide shipping so if you want more of anything or find other things on their site it’s simple to get.  I’m really glad I went for them again and the new billing procedure is simpler than before so there are no worries there.  If you are looking for a beauty box to try, this would have to be my recommendation, hands down.

L.V.Kiki October 2016

L.V.Kiki is a monthly subscription box of 4-6 fashion accessories.  You can either sign up for the plans or if you want to see what type of things they send out you can order a one off trial box.  The boxes may include jewelry, shoes, scarves, gloves, hats, legwear, belts, and hair accessories. Boxes start at $19.00 per month and shipping to here was less than $1.00 per month.  I was in the market for an accessories box and after finding a discount code for this one I got it at a great price. Shipping was super quick and I can’t wait to see what’s inside.

20161011_141246 20161011_141258

The box this month was bigger than a few of them have been and only had the branded tape on it, instead of the whole box being branded.  It is beautifully packed as always and things inside looked delightful.

Once I pulled it all out I could see things a bit better.

This is so gorgeous!! It is a shawl/vest and just stunning.  I own nothing like this and originally thought it was just a scarf.  It is soft and warm and the fringe makes me smile.  So happy with this right now.

This scarf is a big square.  It is in good neutrals of grey, beige, and white.  I still struggle to wear scarves properly but I like having the option of many of them.  I guess I need to Google ways to style them and go from there.

This card has some small diamond studs and diamond square earrings.  I’m not too fond of the diamond shaped ones but I like the studs.  I have two sets of holes so I’m always looking for things to pop in the second set.

I’m not sure about this pair of earrings.  They hang from one side of the V and it’s the same one on both so one will look backwards on your ear.  They are lined with small diamonds and would be quite pretty of they went both ways.

There is a set of three rings this month.  One is a flat gold band that is tall, which is different.  The next one has a triangle shape in it.  It works if I wear it with the point up to the top.  The smallest one  has a small vee filled with diamonds.  It fits on my pinkies so I guess that’ll be where I wear it.

Last in the box was this gold necklace.  I guess the theme of the box was “V”.  This is a cute necklace and will join my rotation of ones that are good for work.

All of the items come with the L.V.Kiki brand tags on them so I found a few of them on their site.  I have a few misses with items in these boxes but it’s just one of two of the things, never a whole box.   It almost seems like a steal at the prices I paid.  If the rest of my boxes are as good as this one was for me I will be more than happy.  I think this will be one of those boxes that was a great find!

My Christmas Crate October 2016

My Christmas Crate is a monthly box of items to celebrate the festive time of the year, all year long.  Boxes can include anything that might help bring back memories or feelings, such as home decor, culinary items, accessories, candles, kitchen items, and more.  Boxes are $29.95 a month and you will get 3-5 items.  I love Christmas and as soon as December starts I’m wearing Xmas gear and singing carols so this box is right up my alley.  I missed out on their first box that had an awesome mug in it but I’m hoping that there is equally great things in the boxes I do get.

20161102_192007 20161102_192031

The box is comes in is all festive and it looks right full too.

This is the back of the info card you can see in the picture above.  It is very basic, just what you are getting and the website you can find them on.

Snowmint Salt Water Taffy by The Salty Road-$7.00

This is taffy with a twist…it has actual sea salt bits in it to give it crunch.  It has a great mint taste and is wonderfully chewy.  I like salt water taffy but I don’t know if I’ve had mint before.  I like the added crunch.

Ultra Cozy Knit Plaid Fringe Scarf y Umo Lorenzo-$14.95

This is available on their website to buy and it is so soft, I can’t believe it.  My Hubby has already tried to steal it on the basis that it must be a men’s scarf.  I am getting a great assortment of winter scarves to use this year and they are all going to be great.

Christmas Caramel Apple Soy Candle by Ash & Ember Studios-$5.11

This candle smells nice.  It seems really sweet in the jar but I think it’ll be fine once it’s lit.  These are hand poured in small batches and I’ll burn it once it gets closer to Christmas.

Christmas Cheer Bath Bomb by Sweet Intensions-$7.00

I love bath products second only to stationery so this is a nice find in here.  I cannot smell this through the package at all but it has red and green sparkles on it and that alone makes it awesome.

Holiday Hair Tie Pack in Festive Blend-?

The shop for these is down for maintenance so I can’t get a price.  I use these types of ties all the time and lose them with amazing frequency so three more come in handy.

Christmas Tree Pasta by The Pasta Shoppe-$5.50

How cute are these little tree pastas???  These are perfect for the kids because they focus on the shape instead of the fact that they are coloured with vegetables.  We’ll be eating these a few times because there is plenty.

I am very happy with My Christmas Crate.  There was a good mix of items from all categories.  My favourite item this month is the scarf and now I’m waiting for it to be December so I can use the rest of the items without being judged.  If you sign up for their newsletter you can get 10% off your purchases.  I only got this one for a few months but I think it might become one of my favorite boxes yet.

LookFantastic Beauty Box October 2016

20161015_181525 20161015_181538

This month has the theme of Pamper.  They change up the boxes with each month and have a different quote in the lid that applies.

20161015_181504 20161015_181546

Each month they send out the latest copy of ElleUK magazine.  I don’t read it because it’s really just a massive advertisement for clothes I think are horrible.  I guess I’m not their target demographic.  They have a mini mag that tells you about the items, hints and tips, lifestyle notes, and contests.

20161015_181612 20161015_181623

Once you get down to the paper you can see what you are actually getting.  I have never had anything be broken or damaged from the long journey to me s they must be packing it right.

Oskia Renaissance Mask-12mL $20.32

This is the Editor’s Pick for the month.  It is full of fruit acids that help to exfoliate your skin.  It also has probiotics to protect your skin.  It smells very citrusy and it will join my other pile of masks and scrubs to be used up in good time.

Mio Liquid Yoga Bath Soak-53mL $8.84

This bath product smells like it would be relaxing.  It has lavender and arnica in it to make you feel good and to ease tension and muscular aches.  I manage to have a bath once a week and I think this will get used in my next few.

Polaar The Genuine Lapland Cream-10mL $10.52

This lip balm uses a few berries to protect and nourish your lips.  It does make my lips feel fantastic and I think with Winter being imminent any day now it will make a difference.

Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel-10mL $16.93

This is supposed to brighten your skin and make you glow.  I have had a few reactions to Vitamin C peels so I will test this cautiously.  I’m hoping that it’ll be okay because I like the few Murad products I’ve tried before.

Laura Geller Pout Perfection Waterproof Lip Liner in Cabernet-$23.94

This colour is described as a pinky mauve.  I don’t wear much lip liner but  this is a shade that would go with many of the regular lip products I do wear.  It is nice that it’s full size.

Alterna Caviar Moisture Intense Treatment-25mL $9.21

You are supposed to apply this to dry hair for 10-15 minutes and then shampoo and condition as normal.  In return it will give you glossy and sleek hair.  I love trying new hair products so this is a great find.

This month had a value of $89.76.

Loves It Newfoundland Box October 2016

Loves It is a box of Newfoundland sourced, hand crafted, home made items.  They are proudly sending out boxes of items they purchase from those local suppliers so that they can show off the greatness of their artists, crafters, and businesses.  They offer both a Standard or a Premium box and monthly or quarterly subscriptions.  Boxes start at $35.00 a month but do go down with longer plans.  There will be 4-7 items per box and they say they will range in value from $40-$75.  I am always on the lookout for Canadian boxes and so while I’m not from Newfoundland nor have I ever been there I was still interested in this box.

20161025_193138 20161025_193155

I was shocked this month to not see the familiar warning on the box to not cut down.  I guess there won’t be a print.  The box was heavy this month though.

20161025_193202 20161025_193207

Haunted Shores by Dale Jarvis-$14.95

This is a book of ghost stories of Newfoundland and Labrador.  I like ghost stories so that is a lucky thing.  Most of the ones in here seem to be only a few pages long each so there must be plenty of ghosts on those little islands.

Home Sticker

I like this but as it would be a total lie for me to use it will be going to my Hubby to give to one of his coworkers who is an actual Newfie.

Indigena Smooth Lip Balm-$4.99

This balm feels so nice!  It is made with Canadian beeswax and sweet orange oil.  I seem to be getting less balms lately so I like to see new ones and Canadian ones at that.

Newfoundland Seasonings Taste Of ‘Ome-$3.85

This is a salt free blend of herbs and spices that is inspired by local flavours.  I can’t wait to use this on meat or veg, I think it’ll be great.

Lard Tunderin’ Chocolate Bar-$5.00

I have got a few items from this chocolate company and they do not disappoint.  This is a milk chocolate with caramel and sea salt bar.  The wrapper is the provincial flag and this is one of many regional sayings.  I love Newfies.

No Place Like Home Soap-$7.00

This is a partridgeberry and bakeapple soap.  I have no clue what either of those are but it smells amazing.  It is a shea butter soap and I will be putting this at the top of my to use pile.

I also got a Partridgeberry Candle from Foggy Island Candles but this blog is acting up and I’ve been having problems uploading pictures lately.  I’ve received their candles before and they are lovely.  They are worth $6.50.

This was my eigth box from Loves It and I still never have any clue what to expect to be in it besides it all being from Newfoundland.  There is a good mix of products. I just wish for a few of the thing that they would tell me what or why it was included. Value is always hard for this box as I don’t always know where things are from, but this one is at least $41.64. If you want to check them out click here to go to their site.
