House Box October 2016

House Box is a Canadian bi-monthly subscription box that sends you 5 or more assorted home product samples.  Plans start at $21.95 but do go down with longer plans and shipping is $9.95.  Taxes are included in the pricing.  The site says you can review your products and shape future boxes but so far I can’t figure out how to make that happen.  The items included are Canadian companies too!  After you have tried them out you can purchase the full sized version from the website or they have links direct to the companies.  Let’s see what was inside this month.

20161019_180441 20161019_180500

This is a small box but it always has interesting things in it.  The first peek left me curious.

20161019_180555 20161019_180602

As you can see this is box number seven for them. The theme is Welcome To Fall.  The back of the card tells you all about the items they found to help you out this time.

Fox Run Brands Pumpkin Cookie Cutter-$3.50

I have no idea what is going on with this image.  I keep flipping it and then it goes back to being sideways.  I don’t do much Halloween cookie baking but this will join a rather large cutter collection.

20161019_180727 20161019_180753

Arbonne Sample Collection

There was a whole bag of goodies from Arbonne in the box this month.  We have a Protein Shake, Fizz Stick, Fit Chew, and Pure Vibrance Hair Serum.  I have not used any of these and honestly, I thought the chew was just a piece of candy, not an appetite suppressant.  I’m kinda off shakes right now but I’m sure it’ll get used eventually.  The drink mix will go to work and disappear quickly.  I can use the hair serum all the time.

The Laundry Tarts Pumpkin Spice Laundry Tablets-113g $1.90

This is the oddest thing I have ever received in a box…..pumpkin pie scented laundry soap.  This package is good for 2-8 loads depending on the size.  This soap is very earth and people friendly and made in Canada.

Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts-15g $0.46

I have had these before and they are delicious.  I add them to smoothies and sprinkle them over salads.  They are an easy way to add protein to your meal.

20161019_180651 20161019_180704 20161019_180716

Herbal Healing Lipbalm-$6.50

I got the lemon one but there were two other possibilities.  There are made with 100% natural ingredients.  They also sent a 15% discount code.  This balm feels nice on my lips and I like the faint lemon scent.

I am very happy with this box.  This months has a value of $12.36 plus the Arbonne items, which is really low. There was a mix of all sorts of items for the home and with them all being Canadian it’s a bunch of good finds.  I have been on a mission to find more Canadian boxes since the exchange rate is so crappy right now and I’m glad to have found this one. The boxes have been consistently good, I wish they did a monthly box.  If you want to sign up let me know and I can send you a link!

Miss Tutii TutiiBag October 2016

Miss Tutii is an Asian beauty subscription that offers a few different options.  You can choose from the TutiiBox, TutiiBag, or the TutiiMask.  Plans start at $12.00 and there is a shipping charge to Canada.  They ship out popular or trending items from Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.  Your package may include skincare, makeup, hair care , beauty tools, or body and you can expect 4-5 deluxe or full sized items.   The TutiiBag is just a smaller version of the TutiiBox so if you subscribed to both you will get duplicates.

20161020_175521 20161020_175542

This one ships out in a bubble mailer, this month bright pink.  Inside that we find the organza bag full of goodies.

20161020_175601 20161020_175609

They have a fun info card, very timely.  On the back we have a list of the items, the values, and what and how to use each one, in English.

A’peiu Aqua Nature Pore Management Blackhead Clean Off Nose Pack-$12.00

This is a mask that you use in your blackhead problem areas.  You spread it on and wait 15 minutes for it to dry.  After that you massage it in and then rinse.  It gets kind of rubbery and balls up when you rub it.

Dr.G Super Aquasis Moisture Toner Sample-$6.92

I love getting toner samples because they are so rare in these boxes!  This one is made to sooth flaky skin and add moisture.  It smells great and I’m sure it’ll work fine.

Etude House Put Your Hands Up Cottony Deo Tissue-$7.00

This is a type of deodorant.  You rub it on your armpits and it removes the sweat and smell.  I’ve never used anything like this before but I’m willing to try it…..but maybe on a day I don’t have to be anywhere important.

TonyMoly Easy Touch Lip Liner-$6.00

I think the TonyMoly products are fabulous and just love them.  A lip liner is never high on my list of wants, simply because I rarely use them anymore but there is sometimes a need.  The colour is listed as 05 but it’s a brick red that’ll be good for autumn and winter colours.

Mamonde Floral Essential Mask-$3.00

There were a variety of options sent out and I got Witch Hazel Soothing.  It is made for brightening and moisturizing.  I have quite a few masks in my stash right now but I’m slowly getting through them and will get to this one.

I’m still liking this bag! The items are useful and there is a good mix of products.  I did get makeup this month, so that’s a bonus.  There is nothing in this one that I would want to swap so I’ll have to try that feature out later.  This month had a value of $34.92.   I like getting the Asian beauty products and it’s been a while since I got many so this subscription should be a fun one.

Beauteque BB Bag September 2016

The Beauteque BB Bag is a monthly subscription that sends you out 6-8 full sized products from make-up, skin care, beauty tools, body care, hair care, or lifestyle products.  It is Asian beauty products that are included and I love all the odd things they include.  They do offer a mask only bag as well that will send you 9-11 masks.  Bags start at $24 or $15 for the masks and do go down with longer plans. Shipping to here was $6.95/month. I have yet to get this bag and have everything for the month fit in the actual bag.  It comes bubble wrapped safely in a cardboard box.

They always have something outside of the bag with this one.  Everything is full sized and that means that without the bags being huge some stuff just won’t fit.

20161014_134151 20161014_134201

The info card not only tells you what you received or any possible variations, plus the value and instructions on how to use.  The theme this month is “K Beauty Must-Haves”, the essential things you should have.

The bag this month is a blue zebra/croc style.  I like it a whole bunch!

Esfolio Black Caviar Eye Patch-$28.00

These eye patches are like the normal ones except that they come in a jar.  There are 30 pairs in there so these will last a long time.  You wear them for 20-30 minutes, which is a long time for me to have to be still.

Annie’s Way Jelly Mask-$3.99 x 2

Everyone received two different masks from a selection of seven possible options.  I received the Snail Repairing Jelly Mask and the Charcoal Black Jelly Mask.  The snail one is good for skin regeneration and the charcoal draws out impurities and debris trapped in pores.  You apply these to clean skin and leave them on for 15-30 minutes before scrapping it off.  Which sounds horrible but I’m sure is much less torturous then it sounds.

Dual-Ended Eye Brush-$5.00

This brush has a smudge brush on one side and a shadow brush on the other.  The brushes are very soft and don’t seem to shed.  If it tells me what they are made out of, it’s not in English.

Yadah Auto Lip Crayon in Rose Beige-$6.99

My first thought on this shade was that it was going to be not great but once I put it on it turns out to be good on me.  It went on easily and the crayon style makes it simple to get it right.  There were various colours sent out.

Secret Key Lemon D-TOC Peeling Gel-$15.00

This will be the second product of this type that I have received and while it’s so gross to see your skin pill-up and fall off, it really makes your skin feel great.  You received one of two different peeling gels.

Deoproce Power Curling Mascara-$8.99

I have started to get a little low in my mascara pile so I’m glad to get another.  This one is not supposed to flake or clump and has a shaped wand to add curl and length to your lashes.

This month’s value is $71.96, which is fabulous.  I’ve had a bit of regret with a few boxes lately but this one is not one of those! I like that there was a great mix of makeup and skincare.  As I noted last month,  I have already seen all the spoilers for next month because they send them out, which I don’t care for.  I want to be surprised and usually avoid the spoilers from other people so it’s frustrating to get the emails.  I choose to delete them without opening.

Glorious Life Soap Of The Month October 2016

Glorious Life is a Canadian company that makes handcrafted soap, skin, and body care products.  I found them on Etsy but they also have a website.  They make all their items in small batches and they are free from synthetic dyes and fragrances, preservatives, parabens, and phthalates.  They are all gluten free and most of them are vegan as well.  They offer 4, 6, and 12 month subscriptions, starting at $25.00, including shipping to Canada.  I was looking for something different and was happy to stumble across this one.

20161018_142420 20161018_142510

This one ships in a regular envelope.  Inside is a stiffer piece of paper wrapped around your soap.

20161018_142526 20161018_142532 20161018_142553

The soap this month is Candy Cane.  It is one of their natural soap bars and they say it smells like candy canes.  I don’t get that when I sniff it.  It does have a mint scent but it’s very soft and mild.  I also happen to think it looks like blue cheese and not anything festive.  Maybe I’m just tired.  This bar is worth $2.25

I’m really glad to support a Canadian company and enjoy handcrafted  bath products.  This is an inexpensive way to get a great selection of soaps and after browsing their site there is definitely a few soaps I’m hoping will show up in my mailbox.  If you sign up for their newsletter you can get 15% off your purchase and they have also sent me a code to get 3% off any further purchases from the site.

Wee Quilt Kits Block Of The Month October 2016

Wee Quilt Kits is a monthly subscription offering quilting supplies and material.  They are a Canadian company, which I love finding.  They have four different plans to choose from, Fat Quarter, Block, Mini, and Wee Quilt of the Month.  Plans start at $8.00 a month for the Fat Quarter and go up to $50.00 for the most expensive.  Shipping is free.  Items included vary with the plan you choose but do give you things you need or want if you’re quilting.  This was another one I picked up with a discount and I went with the Block of the Month.  I am a beginner quilter and thought this would be an easy way to get a few blocks and instructions on how to piece them together to build up my skills.  Let’s see what block we get this month.

20161012_174728 20161012_174738

This months block is called Modern Luv.  I think it’s cute and even though I personally would have sent it out in February, I like it.  I’m a little confused by the fabric choice though.  While I get the red and white, the red is covered in musical terms, which doesn’t inspire the right feelings in me.

I love doing crafts and sewing has always been my first method.  I learnt at an early age and while I do go for other types this is my fall back.  My mother is a super quilter and that’s why I have some experience with it but most patterns and books are above my skill level.  This subscription is an easy way to get more proficient and end up with a whole quilt at the end.  They have a special on right now, just type “QUILTLOVE” in the discount field and get 30% off!

Klean Box Macaroon Box September 2016

Klean Box is a surprise box full of bath and beauty items from KleanKristi on Etsy.  Each month she sends out a box full of items she makes herself and sometimes she includes items from fellow Etsy sellers as well.  Boxes start at $20 per month and you can get 6 or 12 month plans as well.  She only ships to the United States but due to an ordering glitch on Etsy I was able to order it.  Thankfully we were able to work out a deal with the shipping because it’s rather high to ship to Canada and I was disappointed to possible have to cancel my order.  Kristi has been fabulous to deal with and I’m hopeful with what I’m going to be getting!

20161011_141727 20161011_141735

The box is always well padded so nothing gets damaged or messed up.  She also includes the cutest little info card.  It tells you what Etsy shop the items are from and the values of the products as well.

Macaroon Key Chain by Treasure2Remember-$3.95

This is not really something that I love but it is cute.  The little macaroon on the end is my favourite part.

Pistachio Macaroon Whipped Sugar Scrub Soap by Klean Kristi-$4.00

OMG this smells so amazing I want to rub it all over myself and never stop.  It is so soft and fluffy.  It’s not like a regular sugar scrub in that it has the soft soap mixed in but you can feel the scrubby part of it when you rub it on.

Lavender Vanilla Macaroon Lip Balm by Klean Kristi-$6.00

This is the first time I’ve received a lip balm from her and it is nice.  The lavender does make it seem like I’ve licked some soap but beyond that it smells nice.  It makes my lips feel smooth and it’s not overpowering.

Mini Macaroon Fragranced Nail Polish Duo by Klean Kristi-$7.00

These are lemon and strawberry macaroon scented polishes.  The lemon one, to me, only smells like nail polish but the other one is more scented.  They are both really pretty and sparkly.  I didn’t think I’d enjoy the yellow one but I do.

Almond Macaroon Mini Shampoo by Klean Kristi-$2.50

The almond smell totally comes though on this one.  I am sad (as always) when I get only a shampoo or conditioner in a box but as I go though conditioner way faster I keep a bottle around that can double as a mismatched one.  This woman seriously makes every single thing I could ever need.

20161011_141849 20161011_141845

Macaroon Coin Purse-$5.00

This is made out of some kind of rubber or latex and is squishy.  It’s not large enough for a card but is plenty big for cash and coins.

20161011_142022 20161011_142029

Macaroon Case-$1.00

I’ve received on of these before in another box and they are cute.  I still have no use for them but I like them.

Macaroon Sticky Notes-$3.00

Sticky notes are one of my most loved things so these make me so happy!  The purple is a nice bonus.

Macaroon Mechanical Pencil-$2.00

So this is a close second to the sticky notes.  It’s so thin but there is lead in it so it works and I like it.

Macaroon Eraser-$1.00

This goes perfectly with the rest of the stationery that was included.  It could only be better if it was scented.

20161011_141827 20161011_142007

Macaroon Printable and Laminate by Klean Kristi-Bonus

The To-Do list is a bit crumpled from being in the box but so useful that it’s okay.  The laminate looks like it’ll make a great bookmark.

This was my third box from Klean Box and it was great.  The box has a value of $35.45, which is good.  Everything in it fit the theme perfectly and the main items were handmade, which is what you expect from anything on Etsy.  I can’t wait to get more boxes from here and am now even more excited that I was able to actually get the box.

Real Soaps Soap Of The Month October 2016

Real Soaps is a company out of Chicago making handmade soaps and natural body care products.  They don’t use any sulfates, parabens, phthalates and are cruelty-free. They also have no dyes, preservatives, or artificial ingredients and only pure essential oils for scents.  I found them on Etsy but they also have a website.  You can buy individual soaps or they have six and twelve month plans starting at $47.00 and shipping to Canada was under $20 for the whole term.  I’m not sure why I’m on a soap kick lately but they are fun to get.

20161013_175050 20161013_175055

They do a neat and simple package.  It tells you everything you could want to know about your soap.

This months soap is vanilla &  orange with clove.  The clove is the strongest scent, which I’m sad about.  I don’t mind clove but I find it makes things a bit masculine  and just plain vanilla orange would have been better.m It does have an amount of pumice powder in it for exfoliation.

I am always looking for bath type products and soap is such an easy way to shake up your routine.  I tend to not share these with my family but it I find a scent that is too strong or not to my liking then I give it to my hubby who is less picky.

Eternally In Amber September 2016

Eternally In Amber is a bi-monthly box that sends out hair accessories.  They promise the items to be both high quality and on trend.  They also have an online shop where you can grab items or add items into your box to save on shipping fees.  They have two box options, Basic, which has 2-3 items and Deluxe, which is 4-5.  They start at $15.00 a month and shipping for me was $4.00, which is really fair I think.  This is the first hair accessories boxes I have found and since I’m always looking for new things not only for myself but for Bug too I decided to give it a go.

The box looked lovely upon opening it up.  I couldn’t see any actual hair items but I like the pretty Hello.

They stick the info card and letter to the lid, which I think is genius.  This tells you about the theme, Modern Luxury, and why the items fit that.  It also lists the included items and whether or not they are included in the Deluxe or Standard box.

Tortoise Shell Bun Cover-$16.00

I think this is beautiful.  It will work well in my hair and the stick feels really solid and not like it’ll fall out from just me doing my normal life.  There is also little teeth on the clip to hold it in place.

Pinch Clip-$14.00

I am so happy this has a metal clip under the decorative top.  The plastic ones don’t work and I break them all the time.  This is nice and big too so it can hold even my waist length with no issues.

Crystal Bobby Pin Set-$18.00

These are pretty and delicate.  The bobby pins themselves are bigger and tight so they don’t slip around.  I rarely wear just a bobby pin alone but I think I can work these in to hold little hairs when the rest is in a ponytail.

Greeting Card-Bonus

As I mentioned above I think this is a beautiful card.  It is blank inside and while it doesn’t scream Fall to me, I will send this off to a penpal and I think it’ll be appreciated.

The box this time has a value of $48.00.  That is great for what you paid but I know that there is no way I would ever pay these prices for any of these items.  They are good quality and I will get lots of use from them.  I went with the Deluxe box and got the four items as promised this month.  I also had no issues with Customs this time.

The Fan Empire September 2016

The Fan Empire is a monthly subscription that sends you out 4-6 pieces of fandom merchandise.  Items can be anything from posters to t-shirts and are based around a different theme each month.  Previous fandoms include The Hunger Games and Harry Potter.  Boxes start at $14.95 a month but do go down a little with a longer plan.  Shipping to Canada was $5.50.  I am always wary of the fandom boxes because if you get a month that is not one of yours then it can feel like a waste.  Let’s see how we get on with this one.

20161007_131858 20161007_131903

They have a very cute info card this month.  The back has a list of all of the included items and tells you the theme as well. “Triple Threat: Potter, Percy, Pan”  They also include this as an item….Peter Pan Postcard.

Harry Potter Tote Bag

This bag is awesome!!!  It is metallic and quilted and bright blue.  I’m just odd enough to use it, so I love it.  The sentiment is kinda the truth anyways…..

HP Movie Trading Card Pack

This pack contains 6 cards.  It seems like it might be a British pack as the pricing listed on the back is in Pounds.  It’s neat and not something I have any of.

Harry Potter Adjustable Gold Ring

How cute is this thing??!!  I love it and think it looks fabulous on my finger.  I’m not sure if people would even notice it’s HP but it’s one of my favourite pieces of jewelry to come out of these boxes ever.

20161007_132009 20161007_132016

Harry Potter Watercolor Postcard

I’m not sure how you can call this a postcard since they have used the back to thank their subscribers for getting them to a birthday.  It is a nice print though and will add to my growing fandom wall of art.

Percy Jackson Camp Half-Blood Button

I have never seen or read any of the Percy Jackson stuff so this means nothing to me.  I also don’t care for buttons, so this one will just do to the donation box.

Percy Jackson Book Locket Necklace

For some reason I received two of these in my bag.  I just wish it wasn’t for Percy since I think it’s lovely and something I would wear.  Maybe I will anyways.

Peter Pan Metal Bookmark

One can never have too many bookmarks and this is a beautiful one.  It has Tink and Big Ben and reminds you to think happy thoughts.  It’s very nice and I will put it to use right away.

Tinker Bell Candy-Pixie Dust

Watermelon popping candy??? Yes please!  I’m  more excited about this than I should be probably but I’ve never seen watermelon flavoured ones before.

I’m very happy with this months bag.  I am a Potterhead so this is all stuff I like and am glad to get. The only letdown is the Percy button but there is no image that would make me like a button.  They were quite late again but she had sent an email saying that would happen, so I was aware.  October’s box is supposed to be on time and the theme is Spellbinding & Spooky.

My Christmas Crate September 2016

My Christmas Crate is a monthly box of items to celebrate the festive time of the year, all year long.  Boxes can include anything that might help bring back memories or feelings, such as home decor, culinary items, accessories, candles, kitchen items, and more.  Boxes are $29.95 a month and you will get 3-5 items.  I love Christmas and as soon as December starts I’m wearing Xmas gear and singing carols so this box is right up my alley.  I missed out on their first box that had an awesome mug in it but I’m hoping that there is equally great things in the boxes I do get.

20161006_173609 20161006_173644

The box this ships in a box that makes you feel the spirit right away.  Opening it up, it was all wrapped up.  I couldn’t tell what was in there but I was really excited.

20161006_173656 20161006_173704

They included a card that tells you what items are included and where they came from.

I Still Believe Cotton Tote by My Christmas Crate-$15.95

I love this!  This is a canvas tote with a message to let everyone know how you feel.  You can actually buy this on their site, one of only two items they sell.  This is a good start to this box!

Candy Cane Bliss Body Scrub by Blissfulicious-$18.95

This scrub smells amazing!  It is a little hard but I’m thinking it might still be slightly frozen from hanging out on my porch for a few hours in the snow.  All of their items are free of toxins and a portion of their proceeds goes to helping women and children.

Eggnog Drink Mix by Aspen Mulling-$3.49

This is something I never knew existed at all.  This is a powder that you add to milk or a milk substitute and it makes eggnog.  For that one month of the year, we have eggnog in the house all the time but I’m not sure if this will pass muster.  I guess we’ll see.  They also include a few recipes on the side to help you out.

Wood Plaque Holiday Home Decor by Primitives By Kathy-$4.60

How adorable is this little plaque?  You can’t tell from the picture but all the letters are sparkly.  This is going to be perfect for work!  It’s not way huge but will still add a great festive feel.

Naughty/Nice Napkins by Fine Impressions-?

They don’t have any pricing on the website so I am unable to value these.  I think they are perfect for Christmas though.  The lettering is gilt and doesn’t rub off or leave weird marks on your fingers.

I am very happy with My Christmas Crate.  There was a good mix of items from all categories.  I can’t wait to use the scrub and for it to be December so I can use the rest of the items without being judged.  If you sign up for their newsletter you can get 10% off your purchases.  I only got this one for a few months but I think it might become one of my favorite boxes yet.
