Loves It Newfoundland Subscription Box April 2016

Loves It is a box of Newfoundland sourced, hand crafted, home made items.  They are proudly sending out boxes of items they purchase from those local suppliers so that they can show off the greatness of their artists, crafters, and businesses.  They offer both a Standard or a Premium box and monthly or quarterly subscriptions.  Boxes start at $35.00 a month but do go down with longer plans.  There will be 4-7 items per box and they say they will range in value from $40-$75.  I am always on the lookout for Canadian boxes and so while I’m not from Newfoundland nor have I ever been there I was still interested in this box.

Once again the box warned me not to cut down while opening it.  After careful cutting I could see a whole collection of things.  There is not an info card with this box and I wish there was.  It is difficult to find the items and price them online and I don’t always know what everything is.

Foggy Island Candles in Peppermint Nobs-$6.67 x 2

These candles smell very nice.  Instead of a strong mint scent, they are more like those pink Scotch mints everyone’s Grandma has in a bowl.  Considering I love those, these make me happy.  I have a candle burning every night after the girls go to bed and I think these ones will  impart a great smell through the house.

Fog Off CLothing Co. Wristband-$1.00

This is what I mean about the box being a little difficult to identify.  I appreciate that they are promoting local companies and this one does great charity with your purchase, it’s not really normal to just give a wristband and a business card.  This will go to the girls as a play bracelet.

Newfoundland Quickies 7 Fine Art Postcards by Keli-Ann Pye-Beshara-$8.00

These are lovely.  They are all prints of original acrylic paintings done by the artist.  I use postcards and having interesting ones that are unique is great.  I think this is a perfect addition to a box like this.  It is a useful product that shows off a homegrown talent.

Monkey’s Fist Knot Keychain-$5.00

I had to have my Hubby identify this knot for me.  He spent a fair amount of years being in the Navy and so has knot knowledge that exceeds most people on the Prairies.  As you can see from the picture I had some helpers while unboxing this one.  There is no identifying tag on this so I don’t know where or who makes this.  I have priced it based on similar ones I’ve been able to find.

Purity Candy Barrels-$4.25

These are fruit flavoured hard candies.  I will probably take these to work but I enjoy them and will try to not suck on too many of them a day.  This is the second month in a row to receive something from this brand but they have been vastly different items.

This was my second box from Loves It and I still had no idea what to expect to be in it besides it all being from Newfoundland.  There is a good mix of products and it was all full sized so can’t complain about that.  The value this month is $31.59, which is way better than last month.  However it is short of what they say you should receive.  It’s also less than I paid for the box, which is unfortunate.  Hoping again that next month will redeem it.  The pictures I’ve seen of their past boxes did look like they had more items so maybe this as just an off month.  If you want to check them out click here to go to their site.

  1. Glad you enjoyed your Foggy Island Candles. These candles are actually named after Purity Peppermint Nob candies and we sell melts that look just like the candies too. They are a great seller for us. The retail value of the candles you have posted is $7 each. We offer this size by special order only. Feel free to check out our other products!
