Good Luck Sock Sock Of The Month Club Welcome Pack

Good Luck Sock is a Canadian company sending out a variety of different sock styles and types.  They have an online shop, a few different monthly options and did I mention they are Canadian?  The sock of the month club offers you one pair of funky socks makes it to your mailbox each month.  You can order a 6 or 12 month plan or opt for the Bakers Dozen, which is the 12 month plus a welcome pair of socks.  Plans start at $72.00 and shipping is free.  The style of sock you will get each month is random but they do promise not to send you out the same pair twice.  They offer a men’s or a ladies option and you can also send these as a gift to someone.

20151127_095320 20151127_095330

So I ordered this on the 24th and this welcome pair arrived on the  26th.  Crazy.  I the mailer bag was this card saying welcome and letting me know what plan I signed up for on the back.

20151127_095353 20151127_095401

These are the pair I received.  They are a cotton/poly blend and feel quite think actually.  I like the anchor theme and while I would hope for something seasonal in my actual order I think for a first taste of the company these are good.  The message on the back of the label says “Change Your Luck. Change Your Sock.”

I can’t wait to see what other designs I get from them.  I love that they are from just a province over and the quality seems good.  I’ll have more to write next time after I try these out!

Kawaii Box October 2015

Kawaii Box is a monthly box of items selected from Japanese and Korean kawaii products.  Kawaii means cute so everything is based on that premise.  They ship anywhere in the world with free shipping and the box is $18.90 a month.  This has quickly become one of my favorite boxes that I receive.  It is full of things that no one really needs, but I’m always so thrilled to get.  I cannot see me getting rid of this box anytime in the near future.  I love this box and I haven’t been able to find stationary boxes that come close.

20151114_144300 20151114_144233

So right on top was something cute and I could see more delights below.  So much fun to open this box!!!! The itemized info card was in there as well.

20151114_144527

Meiji DIY Sushi-Bar Gummies

Make your own candy sushi? Yes please.  I don’t know why we don’t have DIY candy over here but it seems like it’s a huge thing over there.  All of the candy I’ve ever received from them has been really sweet but so good.

20151114_144618

Animal Sticker Sheet

I am not ashamed to admit it, I am a grown woman who loves stickers.  Puffy stickers?  Even better.  I use these weekly on my penpal correspondence so I’m happy for more every time.

20151114_144444

Neko Emoji Mini Mini Pouch

Such a cute little change purse!  It’s really tiny and not much good for anything but it would hold a fair bit of coin.

20151114_144556

Jewelry Seal Deco Stickers

I don’t bedazzle my phone so these become craft items.  They are shiny and sparkly and having two girls means these type of things get used up.

20151114_144541

Popcorn Rolling Stamp Set

Two different rollers and three basic stamps to make a variety of patterns.  They also included an ink pad so you can just rip it open and go.

20151114_144458

Heart Shaped Nail Flakes

These are another thing that I just use for crafts.  My nails are not really long enough for nail art and I don’t have the patience to fiddle with tiny little things that will end up everywhere but on my fingers.

20151114_144516

Unchi-Kun Poop Lollipop and Lollipop Pen

I don’t know why you’d want to eat a poop shaped lollipop but they are apparently out there if you want to.  The pen is cute though and writes great.  They always seem to send black ink pens so that works out for work anyways.

20151114_144608

Pattern Envelope Set

This is a pack of 6 little envelopes.  All of them are the same pattern and are definitely big enough to send a letter in.  Cute!

20151114_144431

Finger Family Monster Pouch

I have no idea what finger family is but the pouch is cool.  The back is mesh and it’s about 4x3in overall.

20151114_144340 20151114_144412

Flan Dakigurumi Plush Pouch

This is the most useless pouch they have ever sent me but also probably the cutest.  It is some type of rabbit and you could carry something small and short.  I may just give this to the girls since they will love it.

As usual I like this box, just incase you couldn’t tell. The stuff is fun and cute and brings me happiness.  If you have any interest in Kawaii then you should get this box!

Glossybox November 2015

Glossybox gives you 5 deluxe samples of beauty products a month for $21.00 plus $5.00 shipping to Canada but do get cheaper with longer terms.  The buzz on the interweb feels that Glossybox has one of the best packaging of any of the boxes.  Every month they curate a selection of high-end, niche, and trendy beauty products in deluxe travel sizes that they send out and I’ve been happy with their offerings so far.  They have been shipping to Canada for a little while now and most of the time you get the specialty boxes.

20151117_165849 20151117_165856

I seem to have forgotten to take a picture of the items in their box this month but suffice to say they were all packed as usual in their little black squiggle bed.  The info card has all your items and their full size retails plus little tidbits or tips for each one.

20151117_165922

Flora-py Floral Therapy Facial Sheet-$8.00

This is the second most expensive mask I have ever received in a box.  There is no way I would ever buy one for $8.00, ever.  There were an assortment of scents in the boxes and I got the Sweet Dreams Mask, which is yarrow lavender to help calm, relax, and sleep.  I have only discovered these facial sheet masks since I’ve been getting boxes and I love them.  The family thinks I look insane wearing them but I don’t care.

20151117_170008

Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy-25g $5.50

I like this brand even if I almost never have any of it.  This lotion has a very subtle scent and soaks in so quickly!  It has a bunch of good things in it that keep your hands all soft and healthy.  I will savour this tube.

20151117_165950

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Creme-5mL $8.50

This creme is so thick.  This one helps with all of the beginning signs of aging such as fine lines, dullness, and dehydration.  You can’t believe how small this little tub is but I think it will last a while since it spreads out quite a bit.

20151117_170111

Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in You’re Toast-1.2g $2.04

I have received a few different shadows from this company and I like them.  This shade is a very shimmery bronze and I don’t think I have too many like it.  I am glad it’s a mineral shadow as they last longer and the colour is more stable as well.

20151117_170033

Beauty For Real D-Fine Perfect Lip Pencil-0.35g $14.00

This is a universal liner that can be used with any shade of lipstick or gloss.  Once I tried it out it really is flesh toned and I can’t even see it on my lips.  I think it just became my favorite lip liner ever!  It will be perfect for the holiday season and make sure my lips stay just right in case of random picture taking.

This months box has a value of $38.04, which I think is one of the lowest I’ve received from them.  Two of the items are full size this month, but the rest of the samples are still fair sized. This box is slightly more expensive then the other beauty ones I get but it really is worth it for the stuff you get.  I am rarely sad after checking it out and you always get full sized products mixed in.

Doodlebugs Busy Bags Novenber 2015

One  subscription I’ve started getting for Bug is Doodlebugs Busy Bags.  The website describes them as….”DoodleBug Busy Bags is a monthly craft subscription for kids ages 3 – 10. DoodleBug Busy Bags keep little hands busy and little minds active. Each month your child will receive a bag of 4 – 8 curated crafts, often centered on a holiday or seasonal theme, and all the supplies your child needs to complete each activity. Once completed, the crafts may be used as learning tools, decorations, toys, or given away as gifts. DoodleBug Busy Bags are fun, easy to complete, and help develop motor skills, creativity, hand-eye coordination, and confidence.”  Bags are $23.99 including shipping and go down with longer subscriptions.  This months theme is Thanksgiving.  Obviously this is an American company, since our Thanksgiving was last month but Bug just loves making the crafts and doesn’t care about the fact that maybe we are not doing all of them in the month when maybe they were most relevant.

20151124_135847

Every month they include a sheet with the projects on it and let you know if there are any additional instructions or extra pieces that are not in each individual bag but are in the big bag everything ships in.

20151124_135931

Give Thanks Magnet

These are always nice and simple and whip up quick.  For some reason pumpkins were a big thing with us this year so I know this one will be a hit.

20151124_140110

Turkey

This is a paper turkey that gets all glued together.  They include the glue stick so you really need only the time and effort to make it.  Anything involving glue is always fun, if messy, and maybe needs a bit more mom help then some others.

20151124_140055

Magic Color Scratch Fall Leaves

We have received a few of these scratch projects form them and while I think they are pretty boring, Bug loves them and will scratch lines, words, and names into them until there is not much left to scratch off.

20151124_140025 20151124_140040

Gourd Turkey

This one looks like a lot of fun.  The finished picture is so cute!  I think this one will have to be a day off project instead of a before bed one though.

20151124_135907

Enter With A Thankful Heart Wreath

I missed a picture of the foam wreath base but basically you glue leaves on to it and make the wreath.  It is a great message and a fun project.

20151124_135919

Turkey Beaded Necklace

Bug is starting to really like jewelry so every time we get one of these it gets more and more wear.  They are simple to string up and end up being quite cute for the four year old set.

20151124_140118 20151124_140126

Cornucopia Sewing Craft

This one is not on the project list so I’m not sure if it was a last minute addition or just got missed.  Either way it will be a bit more challenging with the sewing required and should make us work for the finished project.

As noted before all of these crafts are from Oriental Trading but since I don’t have to purchase them in large quantities off the site and everything we need to create is included in the bag, I like this. If you need glue or anything else that does not come in the prepackaged craft they make sure it’s in your bag so you really do not have to run to the store. It’s also nice that each of these crafts are fairly quick and we can do them in the short time between bath and bedtime when we need to be winding down.  The next months theme is going to be Christmas and I am pretty sure it will be our last bag as well.

A Few More Advent Calendars!

So in my attempt to find a better version of a beauty advent calendar I have found two more to go with the one I told you about a couple of days ago.

20151123_164513

First up is the Selfridges Beauty Advent Calendar.  This one also came all the way from the UK to get to me.  It contains in their words, “Our ultimate selection from the beauty workshop at Selfridges”.  In case you don’t know, Selfridges is a department store that carries mostly higher priced brands.  This one was 50 British Pounds plus 25 Pounds shipping.

20151123_164542

It has a very cosmic feel to it and I’m excited to see what it all contains.

20151124_115051

Next up is The Face Shop Beauty Advent Calendar.  The Face Shop is a division of Fruits & Passion and I found out about this one from a Chatelaine article.  This one says it’s full of regular sized  beauty products.  This one was $69.00 Canadian.

20151124_115131

All the doors are very festive in this one and I just love opening them up one at a time.  I’m one of those people who never rips into presents, I carefully unwrap them, so I think the waiting makes each day better.

20151124_115156

On the back is an actual list of everything inside but I’m not peeking!!!!

I think this is the last of the ones I found that I wanted.  There are plenty of others out there but I either thought them too expensive or filled with things I didn’t want.  I will try to make sure I post what I get so you can follow along and see if maybe next year you want to try out any of these for yourself.

Bowzer Box November 2015

Since our BarkBox subscription ran out I decided to get just a six month plan of another one for the pups. There are lots to choose from but I went with a Canadian one that wasn’t hugely expensive. Bowzer Box sends out a selection of treats and toys carefully selected to make you and your dog happy. You start off by selecting your dog size from small, medium, or large. You then pick a term from 1,3, or 6 months. All plans automatically renew but there is a slight discount for the longer terms. Boxes start at $29.00 a month and there is a $4.50 shipping charge also. They donate 10% of the fee to dogs in need, so you get to feel good about helping without having to do anything.

20151121_152100 20151121_152150

The box was full to the top again and once you remove the paper you can see a bit of what you got.

20151121_152119

The theme this month is It’s A Zoo  Out There and they play on that two ways.  One is that the stuff is zoo themed and the other is that the malls are getting crazy with holidays coming up.  The card gives you a bit about each item and the website for them.

20151121_152246

Rollover Premium Pet Food Stuffed Beef Hooves

These are a cleaned hoof, stuffed with beef liver, lung, heart, and kidney.  They also do add some filler and minerals in there.  These are made in High River, AB. and since the hoof is fully filled your pup has to work a bit to get all of it out.  Archie has a bone that he has been working on for a while but he’ll happily trade it in for this I think.

20151121_152256

Fruitables Skinny Minis Grilled Bison Flavour

These are a soft chewy treat that are calorie wise for chubby pets.  Thankfully Archie is one of those.  These are made more for a small dog then one his size.  These are mostly made up of potato and rice but there is some actual bison in there too.  They are also free of gluten, wheat, corn, and soy.

20151121_152231

Shed Guard Fresh Scent

I think this is more for me then Archie but with holiday season and nice clothes coming up this will be good for spraying down the chairs.  You spray this on a surface that has pet hair on it, wait for it to dry, then use the brush cap or vacuum to easily remove the hair.  You can also spray it on clothes and then toss in the dryer for a few minutes to get rid of hair that way.

20151121_152309

One 4 Pets Eco Friendly Pet Waste Bags

So what makes these ones special from the regular ones is that they are biodegradable, which is pretty cool.  Once you throw them away they actual dissolve into components that are not harmful and won’t be still floating around the landfill in 50 years.  We don’t use these bags too often as Archie has ginormous craps that require a grocery bag but they are handy to have around.  They even double as barf bags in a pinch.

20151121_152206

Multipet Loofa Zebra (Dog)

I’m not sure why they call this dog zebra but I guess it’s the colouring?  He has a squeaker in the middle and lots of things that stick out that can be chewed off.  Every once in a while a big long toy like this becomes a sucky toy for Archie.  It’s so cute and even though it becomes super slobbery you just want to let him go at it.

I once again have to complain that I selected a large dog package and the treats are not all made for big dogs.  The hoof and toy definitely are, which is good.  I am always left feeling just a little disappointed with this box.  They send out good stuff but it really is not as good as BarkBox was.  We have three more to go in this one so we’ll see if they can change my mind.  I do love that they are Canadian, and source from Canada for at least some of the items.

Birchbox November 2015

With Birchbox you get monthly boxes of five personalized beauty samples, tailored to your profile. They promise to help you try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.  They also say you will never receive the same product twice.  Birchbox runs at $10.00 per month plus $4.95 shipping but you can get yearly plans for $100.00 plus shipping as well.  This makes it one of the more affordable boxes out there. Each box is different and reflects the theme of the month.

20151117_165428 20151117_165453

Another designed box from them this month.  I havenèt been saving the boxes, some go into recycling and some my mother has been taking but they are a nice box if you wanted to reuse them.  The front of the info card is just saying that times are getting hectic and you should take some time for yourself.

20151117_165502

The reverse of the card gives you your product list and full size retails.  It’s nice to get that blurb on each item, lets you know jut enough to try it out.

20151117_165633

Benefit Cosmetics Puff Off Eye Gel-2.5mL $9.50

I’m currently using another sample of this from a different box and am loving it.  Even on days when I don’t get much sleep because of the girls you can’t tell (at least from looking at me, I might be a bit snappy though).  You need so little of this that the fact that it’s pretty tiny is okay.  I’ve used the other one for two weeks and there is still a bit left.

20151117_165547

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo-92mL $13.01

I have received a whole bunch of dry shampoos since I started getting boxes and I use them all the time now.  This one is a bit different in that it actually cleans the hair as well as absorbing oils.  Sounds fantastic.

20151117_165653

LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in On Point-1.35g $10.33

This is an eyeshadow stick in a great colour.  It’s something I would call champagne coloured and has super shimmer to it.  This is perfect for the upcoming holiday season and I can’t wait to use it.

20151117_165535

Salon Gioge Keratin Protein Mask-1oz $4.93

My hair loves keratin masks!  I have a different one and it leaves my hair so soft and smooth and I’m hoping this one will be just as good.  I use it in the shower while I shave my legs and that’s usually enough time for them to work.

20151117_165558

Temple Spa La La Lagoon Aromatic Bath & Shower Gel-25mL $3.02

This smells good!  It’s a blend of mint, peppermint, and basil and it seems so refreshing.  It is strong but I think that since it’s a body wash it won’t be too horrible.  I have a bit if a backlog of body washes to get through but this one might jump the que.

This months value for the box was $40.79.  There were no full sized items but that’s not unusual for this box.  This is my last box from them and I think I went out on a high.  The samples have always been good size and good quality.  I would recommend this box if you were looking for one that was inexpensive but still filled with name brands.   You get points for reviewing your box items, that you can then use in their store.  If you find a product you love, any item in your box has free shipping for the month also. The American boxes do have a few more perks like selecting one of your samples, which seems like it’s on it’s way here,  and a men’s box but I am hopeful once they get settled in Canada the same types of options will be available.

If you want to sign up send me a message and I can get you a link.  You can also go to their Canadian site by clicking here.

Bespoke Post November 2015

Bespoke Post is a monthly box geared towards men. Their box is called the Box Of Awesome and it gives you a themed bunch of items each month.  Boxes can cover food, drink, style, or grooming and they normally have a fairly high value.  Each month they let you know what the new one will be and you can choose to get it or pass for the month.  Boxes are $45 a month in the subscription or you can buy one offs of ones you like for $55.  Shipping to Canada is $10 a month.  I have always wanted to get these boxes for Hubby but they are above what I feel comfortable paying.  Luckily Groupon was running a deal on these and I was able to grab a three month subscription for $79.  You can find quite a few subscription box deals on Groupon if you keep your eyes open for them.

20151118_185442

This months box is called The Butcher.  This box is super nicely packed and nothing we have received has ever been broken or damaged.  The little booklet tells you about all the wonderful things that they packed in and also some tips relevant to the theme.  This time it has tips for properly using a knife.

20151118_185607

Brooklyn Butcher Blocks-$79.00

This block alone paid for the whole three boxes I received.  This is so awesome I can’t even describe it.  It is just over an inch thick and made of maple and cherry.  We needed new board and it is so beautiful and I just want a whole table made from this.  These are handmade by a guy named Nils Wessell and joined with a long grain build, which helps it last longer and stay easy on your knives.

20151118_185701

Creminelli Sopressata Salami-$12.00

You had a choice this month to get this salami or you could get a vegetarian option.  My hubby doesn’t do vegetarian and loves salami so there really wasn’t much of a choice on our end.  We haven’t tried this out yet but I’m going to take a guess that it will be very good and fantastically tasty.

20151118_185714

Bee Local Honey Sticks-$1.20

They include these so you can top your cheese with them or if you want add them to tea.  They are a raw and unpasteurized honey, which is really good for you, provided you are not a baby or pregnant.

20151118_185643

Ft.Greene Farms Pickled Mustard Seed & Charred Sriracha-$2.00 & $2.25

To make your meat taste even better they have included some condiments to add to the taste.  The mustard seeds add a bright shape flavour while the sriracha adds kick.  I won’t touch either of them but I think that small batch products are great and deserve  to be supported.

20151118_185619

Camp Drinking Chocolate by Treehouse Chocolate Co.-$3.00

This is a blend of dark coffee and chocolate and Hubby had it tonight and said it was really good.  Sounds like a mocha to me but I’m glad he liked it and since this box is for him that’s what matters.

This was the last of our boxes from Bespoke post and all have been very good.  Hubby has truly enjoyed everything we’ve received.  The products have been high quality and they ones we’ve used all were good.  This box had a value of just under $100.00, which is just wow.   All of the boxes are available as one time purchases so you too can have any of the ones you’ve seen us get if you want to spoil your man.

Look Fantastic The Beauty Secret Advent Calendar 2015

I was sadly disappointed with my Benefit advent calendar last year.  The Body Shop one was fine but it only had regular body shop items in miniature in it.  I went on a hunt this year for something better or even just different.  Luck for me in one of Look Fantastic’s monthly beauty boxes there was a card letting me know I could pre-order their calendar.  I jumped right on it.

20151114_145924

First let me say this thing is huge!  It’s about 18″ tall by 12″ wide by 7″ deep.  20151114_145942

I’m not sure what types of things I’ll find inside but the squares are not all that small and there might even be some full sized items hiding in there.

20151114_145954

On the back is a version of the Night Before Christmas, with a few changes.  It also lets you know that there will be an email sent each day with tips and hints to make you more beautiful.  I can’t wait!

Candy Box October 2015

Candy Box is a monthly subscription box that sends you out a selection of candy from Canada, USA, Mexico, and Asia.  It’s a bog mox and you never know what you’re going to get.  They offer two different box sizes, mini, having 7-12 items and big, having 15-20.  The mini starts at $20 a box and the big $40.  Shipping if free for Canada and the US.  This is another box I picked up on a Groupon so I managed to snag a three month big box subscription for $45.60 instead of the regular $114.99 price.  Groupon is carrying more and more plans and the deals are super, so if you hear of a box you like make sure you check them out first.   I had been wanting this one for a while but there was no way I would spend that kind of money on candy.

20151023_144656

This box came full!  There was no info card or packing slip telling me what was in here but it’s candy, not rocket science.  I have to be honest though…..I forgot I had ordered it and it arrived three days before I started my new diet.  I actually and literally cried.  I love sweets and was so sad that I will either have to put this away for a long time or share it with family and co-workers and I can’t eat it.  I did manage to eat some of it in the few days before my diet though…..I mean really how could you not?

20151023_144736

First out of the box was E.frutti Gummi Candy Fried Egg, which somehow is peach flavoured.  Next we have some Jelly Belly Sours Jelly Beans.  I’ve never tried the sour ones and now I never will but I’m sure they are delicious.  Tootsie Tropical Dots were there and I don’t think you can get these in Canada normally.  The only time I’ve ever seen Dots are at Halloween in a Tootsie mix and they are not the freshest then.  These were soft and wonderful and I ate every last one of them.  Last up for this batch were Mike And Ike Lemonade Blends, another one I’ve never seen here.  I’m going to get a candy dish for my desk and people can be rewarded for visiting me at work.

20151023_144804

In the chocolate section of the box we found a Hershey’s Cookies’N’Creme chocolate bar.  I’ve not had one for years but they are good in small doses.  Whoppers Malted Milk Balls, another one I eat very rarely but they are good. There was a big box of Nestle Butterfinger Bites, which I ate and loved.  I have only seen the whole bar or the mini size ones around here but these might be available.  Now they are gone and can tempt me no more.

20151023_144829

I’m calling this the pure sugar section.  We start off with a Candy Necklace, which will probably go to Bug at some point.  Then we have some Smarties, which I know came from the US since we call these Rockets.  A Blue Razz Berry Blow Pop is in there.  Next up was a box of Chewy Lemonheads Tropical.  I had no idea there were chewy ones or that they came in other then lemon flavour.  Finally we have a box of Nerds in Peach and Wildberry.  I don’t think I’ve bought a box of Nerds since I was in elementary school.  I dig the strawberry ones personally.

20151023_144845

It really is a never ending box of candy. I tried the Chewy Spree and they were good.  They remind me of some type of candy I’ve had before but I can’t think of what it was.  The Slo Poke Chewy Caramel Candy is interesting. It’s still soft and bendy but I haven’t tried it so no idea what it’s like.  Sweetarts Ropes are new to me and I ate them up.  I need to find these again!  At the bottom of the pile we have Wild Berry Skittles.  I love Skittles in all of their varieties and the berry ones are near the top of that list.  20151023_144859

Haribo Twin Cherries are some of the best gummi candies  on Earth.  I wish they were calorie free as well as fat free….sigh. Sour Smog Balls????  What the heck are those?  I’m sure the kids will like them. Maybe.

20151023_144910

Lastly we have a Slush Puppie Twist-N-Lik in Cherry flavour and a pack of Bubble Yum Cotton Candy gum.  I LOVE cotton candy gum!  I don’t think I can get Bubble Yum anymore here so I’m so stoked for this.

I received 20 items in the box and they all seem like winners to me.  If I had payed full price I might feel a bit ripped off but I think that they work the shipping costs into the box prices so that’s why it seems high for a bunch of $1.00 candy.  That being said I really really really wish I could eat everything in here.  Stupid diet.  Maybe I’ll settle for sniffing everything and get a sugar high that way.
