One subscription I’ve started getting for Bug is Doodlebugs Busy Bags. The website describes them as….”DoodleBug Busy Bags is a monthly craft subscription for kids ages 3 – 10. DoodleBug Busy Bags keep little hands busy and little minds active. Each month your child will receive a bag of 4 – 8 curated crafts, often centered on a holiday or seasonal theme, and all the supplies your child needs to complete each activity. Once completed, the crafts may be used as learning tools, decorations, toys, or given away as gifts. DoodleBug Busy Bags are fun, easy to complete, and help develop motor skills, creativity, hand-eye coordination, and confidence.” Bags are $23.99 including shipping and go down with longer subscriptions. This months theme is Zoo.
The included sheet gives you an overview of the projects for the month and also lets you know if there are extra bits in the big bag that you might need to finish them up.
Zoo Animal Sticker Sheet
This one is fairly straight forward. You have a sheet of cardstock and a sheet of stickers that make up a variety of silly faces. We got the monkey but there seem to be three other choices.
Zoo Animal Slap Bracelet
I see only fights and screaming in my future with this. I remember these from when I was in school. This is just going to be so bad…..
Mini Zoo Animal Coloring Book Set
This is a small coloring book and crayon set. We need more crayons like Donald Trump needs more hair. However coloring is a favorite activity so this one will be enjoyed.
Animal Finger Puppets
These are rubbery plastic and for some reason the girls really like silly puppets like this. We have a few alien ones from the dollar store and the get played with all the time. These ones are cute and I think they will be stretched and stomped and pulled til they give in.
Zoo Animal Necklace Craft Kit
We got the elephant and while I will need to be quite involved with the beading Bug will love this. She doesn’t care so much for wearing them afterwards but really enjoys the making of them.
Paper Plate Zoo Animal Craft Kit
This one is going to be a huge hit! As you can see we got the giraffe and I think Bug will like that. You get to stick on all the facial features and it has a hanging tab for display when done.
Animal Mask
Oooo a racoon. I think it’s great that whether by chance or by care we have received all different animals for each craft. I don’t think we’ve ever had a mask in the house so I’m not sure how the girls will be with it.
Zoo Animal Magnet Craft Kit
Again there were four animal options and we got the tiger. We have had good success with magnet crafts in the past and this one will get as much on and off the fridge time I’m sure. There is not much to do, only a few pieces to stick so it makes it quick.
As noted before all of these crafts are from Oriental Trading but since I don’t have to purchase them in large quantities off the site and everything we need to create is included in the bag, I like this. If you need glue or anything else that does not come in the prepackaged craft they make sure it’s in your bag so you really do not have to run to the store. It’s also nice that each of these crafts are fairly quick and we can do them in the short time between bath and bedtime when we need to be winding down. While I complained last time about there being few crafts and a bunch of things, this time I think the ratio is better. The mask, bracelet, and puppets can be used as rewards for good behaviour and the rest of the crafts will give us some fun.
