Lip Monthly is a monthly subscription box that sends out a selection of lip products plus one monthly mixup product, that can be any non lip product. You also get your selections in a reusable makeup bag. Lip Monthly is $10.00 a month, with reduced rates for 4 month or annual plans. You also can accumulate points that can be redeemed in their shop. Shipping to Canada is an additional $5 a month but this is still a really affordable subscription. This subscription took a really long time to start. I placed my order on the second of October and while they did say I would be getting Novembers box as my first one, they don’t ship out till mid-month. The crazy snowstorm that hit the States also messed up shipping some more so I actually waited almost two months to get my first box.
The bag. This contains all of the products and is shipped in a plain white mailer envelope. I was actually expecting a box, since they use that term repeatedly on their site but it doesn’t really matter as nothing was damaged.
The info card. There is no theme for the month but all of the products were selected to be useful for holiday parties.
There was also a coupon good for half off a first months box. Use code HOLIDAYLIPS if you’re interested.
Ofra Lip Liner in Maya-$13.00 Full Size
I’ll be honest, I haven’t used a lip liner in probably 10 years. I just never think to use one with a lip gloss and that has been my go to lip product. This is a deep wine colour that goes with some of the other products included this month. I have been pleased with a Ofra eyeliner I received in a different box so I am sure I will like this too.
Hikari Lipstick in Cabernet-$13.00 Full Size
This is a nice lipstick described a rich red wine. It is supposed to be long wearing and be vivid. It definitely is that. This is a get noticed colour.
NYC Expert Last Lipstick in Purple Crush-$1.99 Full Size
I like this lipstick a little better then the other one. It goes on smoother and feels less dry on, but I think that the difference is in the lasting ability though it is supposed to last for 6 hours. The name is appropriate though as it is quite fuscia.
Crown Lip Brush-$3.00
I’m not sure of the quality of this brush as it is made by a company that markets their brushes as ones you can label with your own company name. It does feel soft though and doesn’t shed bristles. It has a longer brush part then most lip brushes and is oval shaped instead of square as well. I think it’ll be fine and new brushes are nice to get.
City Color Cosmetics White Gold Shadow & Highlighter Mousse-$4.00 Full Size
I was originally thinking that I had never heard of this brand and then went to the website and realized I own product from them. Ooops. Anyways….I really like this item. It provides a really great shimmer and you can tell you have it on, unlike some highlighters that just glisten when the light hits them the right way. It can be used on your eyes or cheekbones or even as an eye shadow base.
For my first Lip Monthly shipment I am mostly happy. The value of the bag is definitely there at $34.99. I know that the lipsticks are more for going out to parties and celebrations this time of year but as a mom with two little ones, I’m not going so the colours are a bit much for everyday. I love the makeup mixup item though and the brush is useful. As I mentioned before the wait was a bit long but some of that was beyond their control. Hopefully next month will have them be a bit earlier.
If you want to sign up remember to use the code for above and I’d love it if you used my link as well.
