Dive Bar Shirt Club November 2014

Hubby’s Dive Bar Shirt Club has arrived for this month.  Dive Bar is a monthly subscription that sends out a limited edition t-shirt from a random bar every month.  Each shirt is only available for that month and then that’s it.  Their tag line is “T-shirts from the best bars you’ve never heard of”. Shirts are $22 a month unless you need XXL or XXXL sizes then add $2.50 and $3.50 respectively. Shipping outside of the USA is $5.  They are just a reoccurring subscription so you can cancel anytime before the next payment is due.

This months bar is Tin & Lint in Saratoga Springs, NY. Hubby was home when this arrived today and when I held it up for him to see he really liked it.  I am not really feeling it but since I don’t have to wear it, it’s not a problem.

20141127_142933 20141127_142957

As always, there is a post card with pictures of the bar, inside and out, and a little blurb about the location and bar.

This month we also got a bonus Dive Bar Shirt Club Beer Hunter bottle opener key chain.

Dive Bar Shirt Club is a great gift for that guy in your life that is hard to buy for.  It can be mailed anywhere to anyone.  The shirts have so far been good quality and have had minimal shrinking from washing.  They are a nice soft cotton.  If you want to check them out visit www.divebarshirtclub.com

MommiesFirst November 2014

MommiesFirst is a Canadian subscription box for moms and babies from when you are expecting up to their first birthday. They send out boxes based on your needs for wherever you are in that cycle. Boxes start at $30 a month and get a bit cheaper if you sign up for longer terms. They also offer one time boxes for showers and occasions.

I love that they make a personalized letter to send with the box.  It also let’s you know the stage of the box you receive and for an 11 month old it is “Healthy Habits”.

20141126_131946 20141126_132001

First looks.  I was excited with what I could see.

So many info cards! One is the box theme explained and the others are one for each product, detailing what it is, how to use, why it’s in the box, where you can get more, price and a bio of the company that makes it. They are the most detailed info’s of any box I’ve received.

Dr.Sharp Dentistry Strawberry Cream Kids Toothpaste-85g $13.00

This toothpaste is all natural and with no added colours, which is not too normal in kids toothpaste.  While Bear does have 4 teeth, I think we probably won’t save this and just let Bug use it as she’s all into brushing right now.

Thera Wise Crystal Animals Antibacterial Toothbrush-$4.00

This is cool! You only need to get it wet for it to work. It has a mineral in the bristles that does the cleaning and prevention.  The company is out of Vancouver, which is also great.  I think we’ll see what Bear thinks about this tonight.

Pampers Kandoo Foaming Hand Soap-250mL $2.49

While we have never bought a hand soap just for the girls, I know they’ll like that this one is coloured and smells like berries.

Pampers Kandoo Flushable Toilet Wipes-42’s $1.99

Bug has just mastered the art of the toilet but as I’m still chief bum wiper I’m all for these!  I tend to keep some wet wipes in the bathroom just because they are easier to use for a good cleanup so “special” ones just for her are nice.

Boogie Mist Sterile Saline Nasal Spray-Grape Scent-89mL $7.99

We so needed this a few weeks ago. I’m not sure if spraying something up the nose will be easier then using a dropper but at least for Bug it might be.  As for the scent, it’s just the nozzle that smells, the only thing in the spray is water and sodium chloride.

KidGear Teethifier-$7.99

This chew toy (as we call them), is made to soothe the entry of molars.  While I like the idea the fact that this is just a glorified pacifier is not great.  Neither of my girls ever had a binky and I’m not sure I want to introduce something like this.  It even lists it as being a good transition from pacifier to teether.  I guess we’ll see if Bear simply chews it or if it ends up being in her mouth for no reason and it will then disappear.

The info card did say that a lot of these items would be for upcoming milestones that should start happening, but I feel that almost everything in it is more suited to my 3 year old then my baby.  I’m also sad that there was no mommy gift this month, but maybe the simplification of some tasks covers it.  Beyond that I’m happy with what there is in it.  The teether may not get used but everything else is great. The value of the items is just over the cost of the box but I don’t feel like I didn’t get my moneys worth.  I highly recommend this company and box as I have had great customer service and products from them.

Bark Box November 2014

Archie’s BarkBox came today.  BarkBox is a toy and treat box just for pups. Prices start at $29 per month but go down to $18 if you choose a yearly plan. Shipping to Canada is $5/month.  Along with the products part of your subscription cost is donated to dogs in need, so along with fun stuff for your pooch you are also helping out dogs that might not be as pampered as yours. You can select from tiny, small & cute, just right, and big & bold sizes to get a selection of products best suited to your dog. The theme of the month is “Bone-appetit”.

20141126_131357 20141126_131408

The regular wrapping paper is back.  I was sad when the info card had only four items this month but then realized that there was no more room for anything in the box.

20141126_131423 20141126_131439

Along with the info card this month was another card telling us all about their new online shop and including a code for $10 off any purchase. As usual I love the cartoons!

Petsafe Squeak N’ Treat Booya-$13.00

You can put treats in the top this and the other end squeaks.  Archie was a bit freaked out by the rubber smell but I did stuff some treats in there and it’s all good now.  He is so far not able to get them out so this actually is better for him then I thought.  It says it is good for heavy chewers so I’m hopeful it will not be destroyed too quickly.

Wagatha’s Kitchen Sink Organic Dog Biscuits-$5.00

These doggy treats are full of so many things I didn’t even think you could get in organic, like spices and flour.  Archie and Freckles both like them so it’s a win.

Petmate Chef Heggies-$10.00

This has a plastic bottle inside of it to make a crazy crinkly noise.  Unfortunately it has many little bits that stick out and give plenty of places to gnaw off.  I foresee a  quick but painful death to this cute hedgehog.

Feel Good Treat Company Slow Roasted Rosemary Turducken-$6.00

These treats are made up from turkey, chicken, and duck livers flavoured with rosemary.  Gross to me, yum to the dogs.

This was a good box for Archie.  He has been working on the treat squeaker for 15 minutes so far and shows no sign of giving up.  The other treats are liked by both dogs and while the hedgehog probably won’t last too long, at least it’s not filled with stuffing.

You can check them out at http://www.barkbox.com/

Phone Case of the Month November 2014

Phone case of the month sends you out a new case for your phone once a month.  You can get a new case for your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy right now but they are looking to expand that if there is a large amount of need for other brands. The case is $10 per month and shipping to Canada is another $5. While they are no where near as protective a case as an Otterbox they are a fun way to switch things up.  I was stunned at how much lighter my phone was with this case as opposed to the Otterbox I had on there. Never realized it was so big till it was gone. You get a case, a little info card, and a treat!

Each case comes in it’s own little pouch.  Also this month is a card to remind you to sign up for a gift subscription at discounted rates. If you go for it remember the additional shipping to Canada!

Sigh…..I really wanted something either cute or seasonal. I am not a huge fan of abstract art so this is not a favorite of mine. The card gives the theme and what hashtag to use. At least I got a piece of candy.

All of the cases are limited so you’ll never get a duplicate and your friends probably won’t get the same as you so it is a fun and cheap way to switch things up.

Beauty Christmas Advent Calendars

So these are my treat to myself…..not that the other boxes I receive aren’t…..but these just make me happy in so many ways.  I heard about these types of things from reading a few other blogs and made it my mission to try to find some if possible.  My first disappointments came from realizing that many beauty advent calendars are not sold in Canada.  There are a whoooole bunch more in the UK and at least two others that are only in the States.  I probably would have been willing to pay some shipping to get them but most didn’t even offer for any price to send them here.  SO my next attempt was to get the Benefit  one.  Thankfully Sephora.ca came through for me.  I was able to snag one and a bunch of great samples (which Sephora is awesome for!), and it arrived today.  They also have a nail polish calendar but that doesn’t interest me enough.  I then tried to get The Body Shop Calendar.  It was sold out online but said I could receive an email notification when it was back in stock. Super, sign me up.  I do get that email but when I click the link the whole advent calendar page has disappeared from their website. WTF??  So I send a polite but curious  email to them asking what was going on.  The response?  So many people were on that same request that they were in stock for about 2 minutes and then were gone, no more to be had.  I was crushed.  As a last effort I called all The Body Shop stores in town.  No one had any but one location took my name and said they would be getting another shipment and would hold one and call me.  I’m still waiting.  However I was in the mall where there was another location and asked just because I was there if they had any in.  It turns out that theirs came just that day and I could have one!  Even better my store loyalty card applied to this so I got it at a discount and a free lip gloss.  They made my whole week.

20141125_124353 20141125_124405

This is The Body Shop one.  There is a list of what’s in it on the back but I didn’t read it so I could be surprised.

Benefit Candy Coated Countdown. Again I skipped the list on the back. If you are interested it is still available, online only.

I thought I’d share the samples I received from Sephora as well.

20141125_124538 20141125_124547

My three samples that are shipped with every order.  You get to chose from an ever changing selection when you checkout. Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, Dermadoctor DD Cream, and Radical Skincare Eye Revive Creme. I cashed in some Beauty Insider Points to get the Buxom Mascara Bar Sample.

20141125_124559 20141125_124645 20141125_124700 20141125_124729

With any purchase over $35 you could also chose a Samples of the Season Set. I went with the Flawless Refresh one.  Inside the bag was a Prada Candy and Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume sample,  Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate, Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment, First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser, Bliss Body Butter in Grapefruit & Aloe, and two lip products, Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Exposed and a Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.  This bag and the Pampered Party Prep one are still available, so remember to add them to your cart using code SEASONSET.

I plan to let you know what products I get everyday starting December 1, so remember to follow my blog using the sign up in the bottom right side to get an email when there is a new post.  If I have any other boxes that I’m posting about I’ll just add the Advent products to the end of that post so you don’t get a bunch of emails from me.

I can’t wait!!!

P&G Everyday Fall Beauty Must-Haves

So this is not a subscription box but it is some samples I received on the mail so I think it qualifies to be reviewed. P&G has a great sample program. They have the BrandSampler, which sends out a great box of trial items a few times a year and they also give out plenty of coupons if you’re into that (which I am).

This was just a trial offer I think I clicked a link off of Facebook for.  It may have been sent in an email for them but I’m leaning to Facebook.

Pantene Sheer Volume Weightless Shampoo and Conditioner

Olay Sensitive Body Wash

Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream

So if I had had to pay for any of these I’d have been choked, BUT since this is a totally free box of stuff I think it’s great.  (I also feel that I’ve overused the word great in this post).  I got the exact same sample of Regenerist in the Flare Fall Box, which I did pay for, so feeling slightly ripped off there but at least now I’ll have enough to give it a try try.

Sign up for their emails and get headsup on future samples at www.pgeveryday.ca

TopBox November 2014

Topbox is a Canadian beauty subscription that ships you 4 samples every month.  The shipping is free, which is nice, but there is tax based upon your province.  This still makes it one of the cheapest boxes out there at $12 per month.  Topbox normally comes is a cardboard container but you can chose to receive your products in a reusable organza bag for even less waste.

It’s a pretty easy mailer to spot.

I haven’t yet figured out what to do with the bags I get but they may just organize my makeup.  I think they’ll be easier to reuse then a cardboard tube, which is the other packaging option.

20141124_144947 20141124_144958

The ever helpful info card and this months additional cards.  Ten dollars off a $30 cosmetic purchase a London Drugs and a reminder to follow @Benefitcanada on Instagram for a chance to win the Benefit Advent Calendar.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara-4mL $12.00

I think the package of this mascara is so cool!  I don’t know that it will allow me to use more of the mascara but it’s definitely different. I never complain to get more mascara.

LA Splash Nail Splash in Blowfish-10mL $5.98

This is super pink.  I tested it on one nail and got great coverage out of just one coat so I think this will be a good polish.  I’m not too sure that hot pink is a good colour for the Holiday season but maybe just toes for now.

UniqOne All in One Hair Treatment- 9mL $1.20

This magic spray is supposed help to repair dry and damaged hair, shine and frizz control, Heat protection, silkiness and smoothness, hair colour protection, easier brushing and ironing, incredible detangling, ling lasting hairstyle, split end prevention, and add body.  It’s only available in salons and can be used on wet or dry hair.  If it really does do all of those things it’s totally worth the $19.95 full size price.  For sure giving this a go.

Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer-1.2g $2.81

As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I’m in love with primers right now.  This one is a bit different in that it’s a stick application instead of a cream. I know some other people were a bit disappointed in this because there had been an email sent out that if Benefit got to a certain number of likes we would be getting a Benefit product this month, but it kinda was misleading in that it seemed like it would be a bonus item not a regular item. .   I’m happy either way and like Benefit products so am glad for it.

This months total bag value was $21.99. I think that’s pretty good for what I paid for the bag.  The only slight negative I could come up with is that it’s now two months in a row that I received a nail polish, though not the same brand or colour, and also a Benefit product two months in a row.  As I said earlier I like Benefit Cosmetics so it’s not a huge deal but since I want to try as many different products as possible through these boxes a month in between might lessen my judgement.

If you’re interested in joining please send me a message and I can shoot you a link or you can visit www.topbox.ca

Kiwi Crate November 2014

Kiwi Crate is a monthly craft and discovery box for children 3-12. They have recently expanded their options to boxes for specific ages or you can chose the regular one which is for all ages.  Kiwi crate is $19.95 a month but goes down with longer subscriptions.  I have seen plenty of deals out right now for them so I think you can even get lower pricing or free boxes if you search around. This months theme is Discovering Dinosaurs, and our projects are My Dinosaur Fossils and My Dinosaur Dress-up.

Everything always comes packed really well and the pieces needed for each craft are individually bagged so you can find what you need easily.

Apparently there was a bit of an issue with the clay for the fossil kit so an email had been sent out with solutions so that there would be no problems when you went to use it.  I have found their customer service is always on top of any problems and have delayed boxes or sent out emails to let customers know if things are not up to their standards.

Dinosaur Dress-up has lots of sticky felt, so that should be interesting.

Also in the box is Explore! magazine which has facts, stories, and other projects you can do.  Also included this month was a discount code for a gift subscription and a Zulily mini catalog to let you know what their about.

Bug is all about dinosaurs lately so this box is going to be a big hit!  I’m pretty sure once we get the dino costume all done it’s not coming off.  I still get requests to put her Halloween costume on.

The Sweet Pea Post November 2014

The Sweet Pea Post is a monthly envelope containing stationary and craft samples.  You will receive 5-6 pieces plus 1-2 surprise gifts. All envelopes are shipped out the 11th of the month from Georgia and it took 10 days to reach me.  Mailing to Canada is $5.39 a month, but based on the stamps on the letter $1.17 of that is postage, so it is a very affordable subscription.  You can sign up month to month or prepay in 1-4 month increments.

My envelope.

20141121_140802 20141121_140843

What I found inside and a list of the contents. The theme of this month was Rustic Fall.  I have to say the tinsel squiggles were a bit annoying as they were very fine and hard to capture to dispose of.

20141121_140917 20141121_140947

Small craft page pocket, two fall feathers, and one fall leaf.

20141121_141046 20141121_141114

Two die cut cardstock, one flag toothpick, 2′ mustache orange washi tape, and craft paper stickers.

20141121_141129 20141121_141225

My two surprise items-two bird paper clips and two pre-made twine bows.

I wasn’t sure what I would be receiving with this one and now that I know, it’s just not for me.  While I love crafting, I feel that the products in this box are more suited to someone who scrapbooks and that will never be me.  I just don’t get the hype.  I had hopes for more stationary type items then what I got.  I have one more month prepaid so I will get that one but after that I will be cancelling.  The products are fine and the price is very reasonable but it’s not my jam.  If you think it’s up your alley then check them out at www.thesweetpeapost.com

Ipsy Glam Bag November 2014

Holy crap it finally showed up!  For some reason my Ipsy bag took forever this month compared to everyone else. Ispy is a beauty subscription that comes in a bubble mailer. It is $10USD per month and includes deluxe samples and full sized products. All of your products come in a reusable makeup bag.  This month’s theme was Girl Meets Glitter. They interpret this as “Life is short. Wear Glitter. The secret to making the ordinary extraordinary? Add some glitter and shimmer and shine to your everyday look.”  I am partial to a bit of glitter but have no interest in looking like Ke$ha so hoping this isn’t too over the top.  All Ipsy bags are selected for the individual person so there is a wide variety of products possible to receive.

That distinctive pink mailer!

20141118_143251 20141118_143300

The theme card.

This months makeup bag.

This bag is actual made by Forever 21 for Ipsy.  The nice thing is that the sparkles are inside the fabric so you don’t get them everywhere when you touch it.

Be a Bombshell Eye Base in Submissive-2.5g $14.00 Full Size

This is a really, really great colour.  It’s a bronze colour with a gold shimmer. They recommend it as a base for a smokey eye but it gives this barely there shimmer that I love on it’s own.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye in Neutral Medium-3.25mL $0.33

This is just about too dark for me.  I would have rather received the light colour but with a bit of blending I can use this. It is a full coverage concealer but it still lets your skin show through so you don’t look like you’ve got a ton of makeup on.

J.Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion-10ml $4.99 Full Size

Sooooo I went to put this on to see about the colour and my daughter looks at me and says “Wow your lips are so purple”…….

This is fushia.  Dark, dark fushia.  They have so many colours that would be better for me.  I hate the applicator. It’s just a squeeze tube. I squeezed the tiniest amount onto a lip brush and had plenty to do my whole lips. I don’t even know if I would be wearing this for a special night out because I don’t think anyone would be able to look elsewhere then my lips.  I’m sad.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray-43g $1.38

I need both volume and shine in my hair so I’m liking this.

Temptu S/B Highlighter in Pink Pearl-3mL $2.75

Nice soft shimmer and I think it puts a good glow where I want it.

After all the waiting I am happy with my bag.  Beyond the lip paint everything else I like and will use.  The value of this bag was $23.45, most of which was the eye base but it’s still twice what I paid so I have no complaints.

If you want to join I’d love it if you’d use my link http://www.ipsy.com/r/1yde3?sid=ipsypoints&cid=general
