Lip Factory October 2014

Lip Factory is a monthly box that ships out full size make up. While their focus is on lips they send out a range of products for your face.  Their monthly fee is $26 including shipping. There is a slight discount if you sign up for 6 or 12 months.  A percentage of their box is also donated to Compassionate Hands and Hearts Breast Cancer Outreach.  You will get 5-7 products each time.  You do fill out a survey so they can somewhat customize your products to your likes and colors.  This box felt like it took forever to get here. I received notification it had been shipped on the 15th and it arrived on the 31st.  Probably one of the longest times of any I’ve received so far but now that it’s here, let’s open it up.

20141031_133303 20141031_133322

This is the way it ships and there is no other box inside so less waste. This months theme-You Are Beautiful

Folded product card detailing the products and prices.

First peeks.

DeVine Lip Shimmers in Rose and Merlot-$8.95 for two

These are lip balms with all the good stuff found in wine in a lip product.  Neither of them has very much color when applied and very little shimmer but they do make your lips feel soft.  They are also natural, alcohol, gluten, cruelty, pesticide, and paraben free.

Frost Cosmetics Lip Gloss & Lipstick in 1-$15.99

There is no color on this tube and when I checked the website it could be a few different ones so I’ll just call it Copper.  It’s a good thing this came on Halloween because there is no other day I could pull this off. It is not sheer at all, it has full coverage and it is literally copper on my lips. If I wanted to be a robot for Halloween I would wear this, it is pure metallic.  Also the texture is super odd and globby.  I originally thought it was just slightly frozen from transit but it has not changed after returning to room temperature.  Maybe if this had come in one of the other colors you can buy it might have  been something I would be happy with but this is my first hated item I’ve received in a box and it will either be given to Bug to play with or get tossed.

Michael Marcus Lipstick in Desire-$24.00

This is supposed to be a long wearing lipstick so we’ll have to give it a go. It is a bit of a bright pink but completely wearable. It is slightly grainy in texture while you’re putting it on but feels okay on.

Frost Makeup Bag-$10.99

At least this is an item from Frost I’ll use.

Ofra Eyeliner in Grapeful-$13.00

This is a super dark purple eyeliner.  I just ran out of my last purple liner so timing on this is perfect.

29 Cosmetics Reserves Lipstick in Sparkling Shiraz-$25.00

This is not on my info card so I’m guessing it’s a bonus item.  It’s another product made with grape seed extract like the Devine lip shimmers.  It promises to help make lips look smoother and to visibly ease signs of aging.  One can only hope.  I was a little scared about how fushia it looked but it goes on much lighter and has a nice shimmer without being super shiny.

After all the waiting this box was worth it.  It contained $97.93 worth of stuff!!!  Even if I take off the lip gloss it’s still $81.94 which is four times what I paid.  Lip product is probably my biggest weakness so the fact that this box focuses mostly on them is good for me.  I only hope shipping is shortened next time.

Native Beauty Box September 2014

Native Box is an Australian eco subscription box that offers five versions of themselves. There are Classic, Vegan, Supersize, Beauty, and Mens boxes. I got the Beauty box which is a quarterly box filled with natural and organic products related to beauty.  You can buy an individual box for $24.95 or a yearly plan to get 4 boxes for $89.90. The exchange rate to the Australian dollar is better the to USD so that’s nice too.  Since Australia is on the other side of the planet from me this box is actually their Spring is in the Air box.  It’s a nice thought since we’ve had our first snow here and nothing is too Spring use only.

20141027_142203 20141027_142233

The box and the info sheet.  The sheet also tells you why they included the product in the box.

Natralus Aloe Vera Gel 2 packets-$0.30 2g each

I use aloe all the time for burns and cuts.  Since I’m a klutz these will get used quickly.

Sukin Hydrating Body Lotion-50mL $2.59

This is a vegan lotion that has aloe vera, nettle, horsetail, and burdock infusions.  It went on really nice and absorbed quick with no greasy feeling at all.  I don’t know what it is that it smells like but I can’t stop sniffing my hands, it’s so nice.

Estringbags 100% Cotton Short Handle Carry Bag-$5.00

This will be a great grocery bag or beach bag. It holds up to 14kg and stretches out really big.

Love System Gentle Face Wash Serum-20mL $7.98

This cleanser smells fresh and is certified organic, vegan, and gluten free.  It should be a nice addition to the morning routine.

Gypsy Rose 2 in 1 Shampoo-200mL $7.18

This is for all hair types and is supposed to make your hair thicker. The directions are a little intense, not your usual lather, rinse, repeat but  you are not supposed to need a conditioner so you gain your time back that way. This particular version is not suitable for pregnant women but that’s not an issue for me. This also came with a pamphlet with the instructions, a dvd, and a sample of their bar soap as well.

Go Green at Home Eco Toothbrush-$3.33

The bristles are nice and soft and it has a bamboo handle.

Pure by Phytocare Pure Papaya Ointment with Lip Applicator-10g $5.95 Full size

This soothes, moisturizes, and protects lips with papaya.  It comes out of the tube kinda thick but once it hits your lips it softens right up.  I’m not a big fan of the smell but since it feels good on I think I can get over that.

Anerah Skincare Rejuvinating Mineral Mask

This is a clay mask that you mix up yourself by just adding water.  It is supposed to gently exfoliate, tone and soothe stressed skin. I am all for that as running after Bug and Bear all day leaves me a little crazy. There was no size on the container so I’m not sure of the value but a full size one is 30mL and runs at $22.00.

Even though this box is supposed to be for spring I’m happy with it.  There are a bunch of things in it that can be used anytime and that I will be using now like the lotion, lip balm, and mask.  The toothbrush and bag are good things to have in eco versions.

If you want to get the box I’d love it if you use my link :

Bark Box October 2014

Archie’s BarkBox came today.  BarkBox is a toy and treat box just for pups. Prices start at $29 per month but go down to $18 if you choose a yearly plan. Shipping to Canada is $5/month.  Along with the products part of your subscription cost is donated to dogs in need, so along with fun stuff for your pooch you are also helping out dogs that might not be as pampered as yours. You can select from tiny, small & cute, just right, and big & bold sizes to get a selection of products best suited to your dog.  This month has a Halloween theme and some neat toys to play with.

Super fun Howl-o-ween wrapping paper.

20141027_095021 20141027_095029

The info card. I really do love their comics.

20141027_094947 20141027_095004

This is a new Program for them. Now if your dog doesn’t like something that you get in the box you can contact them and they will replace it or give you a credit to their store.  After only two boxes we haven’t found anything Archie doesn’t like but this seems like a good program since you cannot customize the box beyond size.

Plush Puppies Squeaker Mat Mummy-$15

This toy is about two feet long and filled on the inside with squeakers plus one end has crinkles.  This will drive me insane for the ten minutes it will take till the squeakers are no more.

Max & Ruffy’s Pumpkin Patch Bites-$4

These treats have no wheat, corn or soy which is nice.  They are also low fat and Archie could definitly lose a few pounds without any untoward effects.

Snicky Snaks Cinnamon Crunch Bar-$2

This is a hard granola bar like treat.  All natural and organic, it smells really good.

American Dog Toys Flash&Glow Ball-$10

This ball lights up when it hits the ground and it also floats.  Archie is not much into fetch but can occasionally be enticed into chasing a thrown ball. If nothing else we’ll be able to find it in the snow.

Hare of the Dog Rabbit Jerky Stick-$3

This is made up of ground meat, skin, and bone to make a jerky.  Disgusting to me but Archie will not leave my side as I’m writing this so I guess it’s appealing to him.

Butcher’s Block Pet Treats Doggie Beef Chew

This seems to be a mistake in my box. My info card said I should have received Heartland Premium Weasand Strips. Either way this is still a treat Archie will enjoy.

This months box is another good one for us.  The treats are all good and natural and the toys are things Archie will enjoy.

Dive Bar Shirt Club October 2014

This months Dive Bar Shirt Club has arrived. The Dive Bar Shirt Club is a monthly subscription that sends out a new limited edition t-shirt from a different bar every month. This is a subscription that I get for my hubby as a gift that keeps on giving to cover a multitude of gift requiring occasions.

20141023_141226 20141023_141236

Every shirt comes with a post card showing some pictures of the bar and a description of the bar on the back.

This month is Naches Tavern In Washington.

Last months shirt was cooler, but this is a good shirt without a sexy lady on it so maybe can be worn in a few more situations. Hubby likes it so that’s what’s important.

FabFitFun Fall 2014

FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription box that brings together fashion finds, beauty secrets, and fitness gear put together by the FabFitFun team.  It is $49.99 a quarter but there are always deals to be had so the price of the box can be lower or you can get extra free products depending on when you sign up. They guarantee a value of at least $100 in every box. They only recently started shipping to Canada. I was on the fence about this one as I didn’t know if I’d really be into the non-beauty products but decided to give it a try as it gets really good reviews on average.

20141024_141111 20141024_141226

First glance wrapped and unwrapped.

20141024_141139 20141024_141152 20141024_141200

The super large info card and a challenge sheet of ways to win stuff using the products in the box.  Also since it’s Breast Cancer month they are reminding everyone to do self exams.

Jessie Steele Apron-$32

There were a few colour options for this apron and while I was sad when I saw brown, once I got it out it’s really cute.  Hubby even noticed it and commented on it. I usually forget to put an apron on when I’m cooking but am now going to make the effort to try and wear them more often.

Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster-$56(Full Size)

This says it will moisturize and minimize fine lines. I would never personally buy such an expensive moisturizer so I ‘m kinda excited to try it.

Gramr Gratitude Co. Thank You Card Set, Sealing Wax & Wax Press-$43

I think I’ve mentioned it in other posts but I LOVE stationary. I received 4 cards and the wax and seal.  I have always wanted a wax seal because it strikes me as romantic and old fashioned and I like that. Now if someone would just send me something requiring a thank you note…….

Great Soles Pink Ribbon Ballet Barre Ped-$12

These are made to wear during yoga or Pilates or barre classes, none of which I take but I still really like these. They will make a great pair of house socks and with the grippies on the bottom I can keep upright while navigating dog drool, baby spit, and spilled milk.

Beauty for Real True Color Lip Cream in Always There-$22 Full Size

While this is a great color and goes on great the coolest part is that there is a mirror and LED light in the lid so you can apply this anywhere without looking like a clown.

CHI 44 Iron Guard-$14.50 Full Size

This is a thermal protection spray to save your hair from heat styling.  I don’t break out the flat iron or curling iron so much anymore now that my hair is long and takes forever but when I do I use a protection spray so this is good.

The Honest Co. Hydrating Shea Butter Cleansing Bar in Juniper Sage-$4.95 Full Size

I recently used the free trial that The Honest Co. always has out to try their diapers and their body products. I then called to make sure to cancel the autoships because I found that body products smelled really institutional.  I really wasn’t happy with the scents so while the stuff works good I don;t want to use it.  This does have a nice fall smell so I’m going to give it a try but I would not be buying this. If I hate it Hubby gets a new bar of soap.

LaNatura Travel Size Body Butter-$18

This is a natural vegan lotion. It smells good and is not greasy. It will live on my nightstand and be put to nightly use to soften me up.

FitFusion 3-Month Digital Subscription-$29.97

This service brings the gym classes to you. You do need to give them your credit card to get your free months.  It has lots of different workout options so there is something for everyone but I doubt I’ll ever use this.

20141024_141406 20141024_141355

Mary’s Gone Crackers Sample & Numi Organic Tea

These are two sponsored items in the box. If I have to have a few things that some one paid to have in the box that I’m still going to try, to help them give  me more things that are cool, I’m okay with it.  I drink tea almost daily and small bags of snacks keep Bug happy in the car.

This box has a total value of $232.42! That’s over four times what I paid.  With the exception of the fitness trial I will use everything and I am happy with what I got. I’m glad I decided to give it a go.

If you like what you see you can use my link to sign up for the next box

Or you can go check them out

Phone Case if the Month October 2014

Phone case of the month sends you out a new case for your phone once a month. Weird how the name of their company doesn’t let you know that…..

Anyways…you can get a new case for your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy right now but they are looking to expand that if there is a large amount of need for other brands. The case is $10 per month and shipping to Canada is another $5. While they are no where near as protective a case as an Otterbox they are a fun way to switch things up.  I was stunned at how much lighter my phone was with this case as opposed to the Otterbox I had on there. Never realized it was so big till it was gone. You get a case, a little info card, and a treat!

The cases come in a drawstring bag, which is nice as it gives you a place to keep them after.

My case this month.  I like that the background is faded french newspaper. This case is okay but I have seen some cuter or more fun ones so I was kind of hoping for more. Oh well maybe next month.

I did get a $5 discount off this one so that lessens my disappointment.  I don’t know how long I’ll stay subscribed, with the two little ones I kind of need the safety of the Otterbox but I like to have a few options for when I’m not at home.

Petit Vour October 2014

Petit Vour is a luxury vegan and cruelty free monthly beauty box.  It is $23 a month and there is no commitment to any length of time. I am not vegan but I am starting to wonder about all the crap that ends up on my face and body so this is an easy way to try products that don’t have any of it without being out a ton of money or effort.  This box took two weeks to get to me from Texas, which is not too bad really.

20141022_142753 - Copy

Beyond the name it looks like every other box of product that shows up.

20141022_142912 - Copy

I don’t know who invented these little paper squiggles for packing but the subscription box companies are definitely keeping them in business. They show up in a bunch of them.

20141022_142940 - Copy

The info card and a Root Science routine card. I got a little excited thinking since they were telling me how to use the Root Science product morning, evening, and weekly that maybe I received all the products to try…..but that would be a no.

Lily Lolo Mineral Eyeshadow in Sidewalk-Full Size $12

This seems a little dark but it says it will go on sheer and you can use it wet or dry. I can’t wait to try it.

Root Science Skincare RS Detox Weekly Facial Mask-28g $25

Holy crap! This is a half sized product and it’s crazy expensive. This is also the product the instruction card was for. You mix 1 tsp. with warm water to make a mud and then apply and leave on till dry, then rinse. You can also use it as a spot treatment for acne.  While there is no way I would ever pay $50(full size) for a face mask I am interested in giving this a go.

Yarok Leave-In Conditioner-59mL $13.20

While this seems like a sample size it is actually one of three sizes for sale on the website. I use leave-in conditioners a few times a week so this will be a happy addition to the Aussie brand I regularly use.  It is also a heat protection spray for styling.

Ellovi Tinted Lip Butter-.07oz $2.50

Wow this is really awesome! I wasn’t sure what to expect putting it on but it goes on like a lap balm more then a lipstick and it feels fantastic.  The full size is double what I received and I think I may have to buy some. It is also available in an untinted version. There is no color choices just plain or pink, but it goes on really sheer so it just makes your lips a bit more rosy then natural.

For my first vegan beauty box I am really impressed. The value was over $50 and I am thrilled with the products.  The lip butter is my favourite item but I will use everything.  I was uncertain when I signed up if I would keep on with this box and after receiving it if any upcoming ones are as good I most definitely will be!

Ecocentric Mom-Mom & Baby Box October 2014

Ecocentric mom subscription boxes focus on healthy, natural, organic products. You can choose from a pregnancy box, a mom box, or a mom and baby box. They ship every other month and are $24. I went with the mom and baby box to get a few things for me while getting stuff for the wee one that is maybe less full of bad things then what I might just buy off a store shelf. Their site says they ship in September and November so I’m not sure which box I received so we’re going with October for simplicity sake.

20141021_124919 20141021_124930

Nicely wrapped upon opening and double sided info card listing all the products and codes for discounts off of purchases on each site.

Inside the wrapping.

Beautiful Earth Bath & Massage Oil-Full Size $9.50

I really thought this was a sample size but after going to the website this is the actual size bottle they sell. This can either be used to give baby a soothing massage or you can squirt some into the tub. It contains Chamomile & Lavender, both of which encourage sleep so this will definitely be a before bed time product.

The Organic Face Lipstick in Sweet Nectar-Full Size $17.99?

You could have received either a lipstick or a lipgloss in this box and I’m thinking I would have rather had the gloss.  When I went to the website the lipsticks they have there are in a completely different package and I also could not find this color so I don’t know if this was made specially for ecocentric mom or what. The color is ok but the lipstick doesn’t go on very easily so I had to press a bit and the lipstick bent in the tube. While I will use this I am not too impressed.

WooBamboo Kid’s “Sprout” Toothbrush 2-Pack-$5.95

These are really cool. They are an eco-friendly brush which is nice since we go through a lot of kids brushes as we are learning.

20141021_125224 - Copy

Annie’s Organic Cheddar Snack Mix Bunnies- 28g

I could not get a price on these because the website said it didn’t ship to Canada so it would not show me any products. They did give me a .50 off coupon to use but as these are not in stores here it’s useless but I think these will pass the snack test for the preschooler. They are baked cheddar crackers, pretzels, and plain crackers seasoned with cheese.  As a fish cracker substitute I think it’ll be okay.

20141021_125215 - Copy

Bakery On Main Instant Oatmeal Maple Multigrain Muffin Flavour-50g $1.00

This is a gluten free, dairy & casein free, non GMO oatmeal. Thankfully we have no food issues to worry about here but hopefully this will taste good.

7th Heaven Natural Skin Mask Million Year Mud Revitalizing Mask- Full Size $2.99

Face masks are fun.

Grandma El’s Diaper Rash Remedy & Prevention-2 sample packs

We seems to have an issue with diaper rash based on when we eat certain foods so any new product to help is appreciated.

Jillian Wright “Breakout Blocker” Serum- 3mL sample

Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin- $8.99

Yay!!! We love books here and while this is aimed at the baby the preschooler has already snagged it. It’s a nice inclusion to encourage spending time together.

Beyond a useless coupon and a few sample packets this was a good box of stuff. I like the baby products and the fact that there is some stuff for the older one is nice too. The few mom products were ok. I am not super thrilled with the lipstick but I will use it and while I wish the other samples were larger I really can’t complain because trying new things is fun.

Beauty Box 5 October 2014

Beauty Box 5 is a subscription box that sends out 5 (wow didn’t see that coming did ya?) products or samples every month. They might be makeup, beauty accessories, hair, skincare, fragrance, body, or nail products. It is another of the cheaper ones at $12 a month or even less if you sign up for a longer term. They do charge $3 a month to ship to Canada. This months theme is Effortless Allure.

20141020_143004 20141020_143013

The box is actually quite small but they did get everything in with no damage. On the back of the card is the product descriptions and hints on how to use the products to get the most out of them.

Chapstick Hydration Lock- Full Size $2.99

I LOVE lip chap. This is a dual ended tube for day and night and they sent a coupon. I love coupons too! There are three varieties of this product, 24 hour care, which I got, advanced anti-aging, and mixstix, which is flavoured. Think I’ll use my coupon on the flavoured one.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Cheek and Lip Stain in Pink-5g $9.99

This is half of a full sized product but there is still plenty to use.  I am not a fan of cheek stains, mostly because I never seem to be able to make them look natural but I will for sure use this on my lips. It doesn’t go on as hot pink as it looks.

Extend you Beauty Cosmetic Tool $5.49

It’s a mini spatula!! And it’s dishwasher safe! All kidding aside this is one of those things I never knew I needed but now that I have it I can’t imagine why I never thought of it.

Lashem Picture Perfect-5mL $1.35

This is a serum to reduce fine lines that you are supposed to use as a primer.  Anything that smooths out lines and has a slogan of “Bye Bye Wrinkles Hello Beautiful” seems like a win.

Nanacoco Nail Polish in Romantic Cruise- Full Size $3.95

Baby blue polish is not my first choice but it goes on smooth and will work for an accent nail with the purple polish I received in another box.

I received $23.77 worth of products in this box. Most of these are drug store products but I’m ok with that.  Even with shipping I still paid less then if I’d have purchased the products. I really liked the Chapstick and the mini spatula but will use everything so I’m happy.

If you’d like to see what they’re all about visit their site

Topbox October 2014

Topbox is a Canadian beauty subscription that ships you 4 samples every month.  The shipping is free, which is nice, but there is tax based upon your province.  This still makes it one of the cheapest boxes out there at $12 per month.  Topbox normally comes is a cardboard container but you can chose to receive your products in a reusable organza bag for even less waste.

The outer mailer is a bright purple bubble envelope. Easy to see as you creep your mailman coming down the street.

20141020_143339 20141020_143402

The bag and the info card. Along with listing the products it also tells you what stores carry the products so you can pick them up since they are not available for sale on the website.

China Glaze Nail Lacquer in #1306-$10

This came nicely wrapped up in bubble wrap for protection and is a nice deep purple. Nail polish is probably the one thing I hope to receive only a little of in any of my boxes as I rarely do my nails but my kidlet has begun requesting we paint our nails quite often so that may be changing.

Benefit Cosmetics they’re real! push-up liner-0.10g $1.93

I’m really glad this product came with directions on the package because I was lost once I opened it. It is a matte black gel liner that will hug your lash line so you can get a super close line. You have to squeeze the rubber applicator to get the liner up. While I think it could be good I’m annoyed that now that I’ve opened it the lid won’t go back on and stay closed because of air pressure. Hopefully a full sized one doesn’t have that problem.

Lancome Genifique Yeux Light-Pearl-5mL $22

This is a pricey sample. According to the box it’s a eye-illuminating youth activating concentrate.  I like eye creams so will gladly give this a try and feel fancy using something that I would never buy for myself due to the price.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution-100mL $8.78

This bottle is just shy of half size of a regular one so you are getting a large amount of product.  It cleanses, removes makeup, and soothes skin and you don’t rinse it off. Apply to a cotton ball and then dry your face.  It’s different from most cleansers I’ve used but I’m curious to try it.

This box cost me $13.20 taxes in and I’ve received $42.71 worth of stuff, which is great to me. I will use everything in it and even got a few things I would never buy so it’s even better.
