5amily Mug Review

Sometimes you need a gift for that hard to buy for friend or family member.  5amily has you covered for all of them.  They specialize in personalized items and have ones for everyone.  The can set you up with items that are sports related, family related, or about your pets, hobbies and school themes.  You can get clothes, mugs, bags, or phone cases. Most items seem to have instant discounts applied so you can save money on your purchases as well.

I was sent the To Save Time Let’s Assume (Name) Is Always Right Mug to try them out.  Getting my name put on the mug took minutes and there was a preview so I could see it as it would show up beforehand.  The ordering process took less than 10 minutes and was so simple.  Shipping rates vary based on your location and what you are ordering.

The Kit Beauty Desk August Edition 2018

The Kit is a box of goodies put together by Topbox.  They are a Canadian company and these are an extension of the monthly Topbox subscription but without the commitment.  You can go to their website and find an assortment of boxes that cover makeup and skincare items.  They usually put out one or two boxes a month and shipping is free in Canada  Boxes are normally $26.00 for The Kit Beauty desk, $49.00 for The Kit Beauty Box, which is much larger and contains more items, or occasionally they have a mystery box for $12.00.  This is a review of the August Beauty Desk Box.

20180815_181401

The Kit comes in a tube.  They mail it in a regular box so it doesn’t arrive damaged.  The whole thing is recyclable so that is great.  I haven’t found any other use for the tube but if you’re crafty you could repurpose it, as it’s very sturdy.

20180815_181432

Most of the time there is an info card in the Beauty Desk version.  This month has ten items included.

20180815_181719

AveryBeauty Shea Butter Socks

I have never used anything like this before.  These are a pair of socks that you slide on your feet and let them sit for 20 minutes  After that your feet should come out moisturized and less rough then you started with.  I rarely have 20 minutes where I don’t need to get up and walk somewhere but my feet can definitely use these after rocking sandals all Summer.

20180815_181607

Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil and Shea Butter

This is an oil treatment for your hair.  It is supposed to make your hair softer and smoother while nourishing it.  It smells great and after a while of dying my hair the ends need this!

20180815_181710

Pure Cosmetics Silicone Pro Beauty Blender

I keep getting these in beauty boxes and I have yet to use one.  I like my original pink beauty blender and haven’t felt the need to change to one of these.  I find the texture very odd.  I will give them a go once I destroy the one I’m using now.

20180815_181523 (1)

Clinique High Impact Mascara

Thank goodness for this!  I’m running low on mascara in my stash and this will be a great addition to it.  This is a volumizing mascara and will add length and definition to your lashes.

20180815_181533

Joico Blonde Life Brilliant Glow Oil

I’ve never heard of something like this but it is a brightening oil that adds shine and softness.  I’m not sure how it differs from a regular hair oil.  It smells nice and does add a shimmer to the part of my hair I put it on to try.

20180815_181554

Boo Bamboo SPF 30 Natural Sunscreen Spray

This spray is water and sweat resistant, fast absorbing, and non-whitening when you spray it on.  It also has UVA and UVB protection, which is what you should be getting from a sunscreen.  It is enriched with bamboo extract.

20180815_181732

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

Thee boxes are where I get any high-end facial products I can’t afford normally.  This is one of those items.  You can basically use this any time and anywhere on your body.  It’s a face cream, a hand cream, can add shine, or can shape your brows.  It is gel-like in texture and smells horrible lol.

20180815_181631

Nena Clay Mask

This mask is good for all skin types and also exfoliates as it works  It has minerals and rare earth elements that help to protect against the effects of pollution on your skin, while it detoxifies and hydrates.

20180815_181619

Barefoot Venus Shower Gel

I’ve had this item before and this is not a scent I really enjoy.  It is a Green Tea Body Wash in Gingerly.  It does have lots of good things going for it though.  It has no parabens, mineral oils or synthetic colours.  It does lather up really nicely too.  I just have an issue with the smell.

20180815_181500

Morgan Tailor Professional Nail Laquer in Better In Leather

This is a black polish with silver sparkles in it.  I think it’s a good colour for Fall.  I just had acrylic nails put on so I don’t need any polish right now but maybe my toes could use a touch up in this.  I’m not a fan really of getting polish in boxes but since you can see what is in these boxes before you buy I can’t really complain.

These boxes are great to get.  They include items that are normally available in salons only plus higher end face products.  They are a good mix of hair, face, and makeup items.  You can also see everything you are going to be getting each time before you order.  These are not a subscription box but a one-off that lasts only for a while.

iBeauty Box August 2018

iBeauty Box is a monthly box that sends you an assortment of cosmetics, skin care, lifestyle items.  They include full size and sample size products from brands you know and ones to discover.  You could get anything from nail care, hair care, skincare, jewellery, or candles to makeup.  I’ve been in the market for more of the beauty boxes that drew me into this for a while so when I saw this one I thought I’d give it a try.  Boxes start at $24.99 a month and go down very slightly if you subscribe for a longer term.  Shipping to Canada is included in that price.

20180823_163525

The box is CrateJoy teal but they have the iBeauty Box sticker on the one side so you know what you are getting.

20180823_163548

They have an info card included and that tells you what you will find inside as well as the retail price of that item.

20180823_163617

Dragonfly Necklace-$56.00

I like this necklace but in no way, shape, or form do I think it’s worth $56.00.  It’s just no heavy enough or well made enough for that.  With all of that being said, it is a nice piece of jewellry and I will wear it.

20180823_163759

e.l.f. Velvet Matte Lipstick in Berry Bordeaux-$3.00

It’s been a while since I’ve recieved any e.l.f. items and I’m happy to have them.  This is a very dark colour though and not all that wearable for me as an everyday item.  It would work for a special occasion or maybe once Fall is here I’ll find it more suitable.

20180823_163654

L.A. Colors Eyeshadow Palette in Smokey-$6.00

I like this palette.  It hasa good mix of sparkly shades and matte shades to create any eye look you want to.  The colours are also all really wearable, which doesn’t always happen in some palettes.

20180823_163720

Nail Stickers-$6.00

There are four sheets of regular nail stickers and one sheet of something that is different.  There is a yellow and black check, a leopard print, pink squares, and an anime one.  These are a bit of a waste for me as my nails are never long enough to worry about using them.

20180823_163631

Sassy + Chic Fashion Eyelashes-$9.00

I like fake lashes even if I don’t wear them all that often.  These seem like a nice pair and aren’t crazy long.  It has taken me many tries to be able to apply  lashes so I’m always happy to get another pair to work with.

20180823_163822

Dermal Acia Berry Collagen Essence Mask-$9.00

I use a mask once a week and my stash is getting low so this is a welcome product.  Most of the wording on this package is in Korean so I have no clue about what it does but I’m going to go with firming and plumping, based on the fact that it’s collagen.

20180823_163846

In the samples included this month we haveLeaf & Rusher Skin Tonic, Shiseido Eye Wrinkle Expert, and purminerals Impact+ mascara.  I love that they include a few of these each month.  It’s a bonus and it helps to make the box feel complete.

This month is back to what I was hoping to get when I signed up for this box.  There is a great mix of beauty products and I think I’ve finally figured out that each month I’m going to get a piece of jewellery and something else that is not specifically beauty related.  The value this month is $89.00 which is a good value for what I paid.  If you want to check out iBeauty Box or any other boxes on CrateJoy click here and start your search.

LippieBox August 2018

LippieBox is a monthly subscription that sends out 5 new or trending lip and beauty products.  They say they are most popular among tweens and teens but I love lip products and think it’s going to be great.  Boxes start at $19.00 per month and there is a $7.00 shipping fee to Canada.  Prices do go down with longer subscriptions. The box itself is tiny and fits easily in your mailbox.

The box is bright pink and filled with squiggles to keep your products safe.  They usually include some cards from the companies as well.

20180813_182549

They have an info card that details all the items that you will find in your box.  This month there is also a code for a 15% off discount at Honi Beez.  Feel free to use it!

20180813_182615

Honi Beez Lip Balm & Keychain in Mint Chocolate-$7.00

This is an adorable little lip balm!  It is natural and organic with herbal infusion happening.  I don’t normally like a mint chocolate lip balm, the ones I’ve had before are so fake and awful that they turn gross on your lips.  This one is not like that.  It tingles and smells great.  The keychain holder will fit any lip balm in a round tube.

20180813_182632

Cire D’Abeille Lavender & Lemon Lip Balm-$5.00

This lip balm is certified cruelty-free and gluten-free.  It also uses locally sourced beeswax in its production.  It smells more of the lavender than the lemon but that just means I will use it at night to help me relax.

20180813_182803

Some Essentials Lip Lotion in Warm Vanilla Sugar-$6.00

This lip lotion is slightly grainy.  It doesn’t really smell of the vanilla promised either.  Once it’s been on my lips for a few minutes the grainy feeling goes away so it must just be something that is not quite melted until it gets warm.

20180813_182658

Kind Lips Unscented Lip Balm-$5.00

This is a 100% natural lip balm.  The company also gives 20% of their profits to fight against bullying.  This is just plain balm but the good that the company does will make me feel good about using it.

20180813_182742

Booda Organics Naked Lip Balm-$3.95

This balm is soy, bee, and gluten-free.  It is also certified organic, non-GMO, cruelty-free and vegan.  It is a little soft to put on but feels nice and seems to leave my lips soft.

I  am very happy to have found this box.  I was a little concerned about getting a lip product only box as I have so much of it but the items in here are great and a good mix of things.  The value for this month is $26.95, a little low this month.  You can visit CrateJoy by clicking here and check out this box and many others.

Scently Box July 2018

Scently Box is a monthly subscription box that sends out items that help you to relax and unwind.  They offer three sizes of box, Mini, Mod, and Ultra and you can also choose to have them delivered once a month or every three months.  Boxes start at $22.99 a month but go down with longer plans.  There is a $15.00 shipping fee to Canada as well.  Boxes include items made with natural ingredients, handcrafted items, bath and body items, and samples.  I was hoping for something different from what I’ve received before so let’s see what we find in the box!

20180729_182557

Things were a little messy in the box this month as the bath bomb package was open and from bouncing around things got a bit blue.

20180729_182626

First out of the box was Blueberry Micellar water.  This tends to be my go-to eye makeup remover type so I’m excited to see how this version works.  It smells like a Slurpee but I’m sure it’ll be fine.

20180729_182940

Next up was the Facial Creme Exfoliant.  I can’t tell you what this smells like but it’s not unpleasant.  It also doesn’t say what the exfoliant is but it’s not harsh and does leave you feeling soft skinned.

20180729_182951

We then have an Oatmeal, Milk, & Honey Handmade Soap Sample.  It smells exactly like soap.  I have quite a few bars of soap to use because of other boxes but this is a nice addition to the pile of them.

20180729_183008

One of the bigger items this month is a Daytime Blend Facial Moisturizer.  It smells like roses and something else I can’t place.  It absorbed into my skin very fast and didn’t leave it feeling greasy at all.

20180729_183024

Lastly, we have a Blueberry Bath Bomb.  I’m thinking we are going to have some crazy blue water once this gets going.  I am sad it made a bit of a mess but it’s still mostly whole and the few dents won’t matter once it gets in the water.

My second Scently Box is as good as the first.  The products are nice, the sizes are great, and the scents are fantastic.  I got a mix of bath items and all of them do put me into a relaxed state of mind.  I can only hope that the next few boxes I get from them are equally great.  If you want to find this box you can go to CrateJoy and order it up!

LippieBox July 2018

LippieBox is a monthly subscription that sends out 5 new or trending lip and beauty products.  They say they are most popular among tweens and teens but I love lip products and think it’s going to be great.  Boxes start at $19.00 per month and there is a $7.00 shipping fee to Canada.  Prices do go down with longer subscriptions. The box itself is tiny and fits easily in your mailbox.

The box seemed very pink this month.  I could see all the items and they were safely protected by the squiggles.

20180729_182236

They include an info card that lists all the items for the month, the prices, and some social media links. #lippiebox

20180729_182356

Glo By Glory Semi-Matte Liquid Lipstick in Love Muffin-$18.00

Liquid lipstick is my nemesis.  This is also a very red colour so when I make a disaster of applying it, it’s noticeable.  That all being said, it goes on well and had good coverage.  It dries pretty fast and stays on well once dry.

20180729_182306

Be A Bombshell Pout Potion in Sugar Pie-$8.00

This looked very pink in the tube and yet it went on as a very soft shell pink.  It has a smell like suntan lotion.  This is a brand I love getting and I am very happy to have another colour of it.

20180729_182445

My Magical Star Root Beer Float Lip Balm-$3.00

This smells exactly like root beer!!!!!!  It goes on a little soft so you have to remember not to push while applying it but after that it is great.  It left my lips nice and soft and I wanted to keep applying it to get more of that root beer smell.

20180729_182421

My Magical Star Pucker Up & Kiss Me Creamsicle Lip Balm-$3.00

They really made some great flavour choices this month with the lip balms.  This one is also a little soft to apply but I do want more of it when I wear it.  It too leaves my lips soft and definitely kissable.

20180729_182514

My Magical Star Rainbow Sherbet Lip Scrub-$5.50

I am not a huge user of lip scrubs.  I almost never use them.  Thankfully this is just a small tub that can get used quickly.  It is a sugar scrub and I’m not sure what it smells like.

I am very happy to have found this box.  I was a little concerned about getting a lip product only box as I have so much of it but the items in here are great and a good mix of things.  The value for this month is $37.50, a great value.  You can visit CrateJoy by clicking here and check out this box and many others.

Unicorn Dream Box June 2018

Unicorn Dream Box is a monthly subscription that will help to satisfy any cravings you may have for all things unicorn.  They will send out a mix of makeup, stationery, decor, and accessories.  There will also be a treat in there.  They offer two different sizes of box, Dream Mail that will send 3-4 items and the Dream Box that sends out 6-9 items.  Boxes start at $19.95 and do go down with longer plans.  There is an additional shipping charge to Canada.  I happen to love unicorns so getting this box was a bit of a no-brainer for me.

20180630_205145

Once again we have the rainbow bag to contain all the goodies.

20180630_205207

This month they went back to having an info card that lists all the items I can expect to find for this month.

20180630_205327

Unicorn Bracelet-$8.00

This bracelet is on a rainbow neon cord and you just tie it onto your wrist.  I have really small wrists and this does fit me but if you had larger ones you might have a bit of a problem.

20180630_205349

Rainbow Candy-$1.50

This is a fun lollipop!  So far all of the lollies have gone to my children and I’m thinking this will follow suit.  I just don’t need any more sugar in my life and these are huge to eat.

20180630_205255

Unicorn Drink Holder-$9.00

SO this is amazing!  I am going to have to plop myself in the kid’s pool outside just so I can use this.  It is inflatable and after reading the back of it, it recommends holding your drink in the bath with it so that’s an even easier way for me to put this to use.

20180630_205245

Unicorn Lip Balm-$10.00

In what may come as a surprise to you, this is not the only one of these I own…..one of my co-workers gave me this as a gift one year, mostly because they are awesome.  This has cotton candy lip balm inside the unicorn head and it’s great.

20180630_205219

Key Chain-$12.00

I think using this will guarantee that my Hubby will never use my keys ever again.  It is soft pink and has a reflective silver head and tail.  This is going on my keys right now, sorry Hawaii memento.

This box is even greater than I was hoping it would be.  I love the items in it and the mix of things was perfect.  The value this month is $40.50. The box is just fun and whimsical and will give me a good blast of unicorn for the few months I receive it.  If you want to get your own bit of unicorns click here to go to CrateJoy and search them out.

iBeauty Box June 2018

iBeauty Box is a monthly box that sends you an assortment of cosmetics, skin care, lifestyle items.

The box is a CrateJoy box with the logo stickered on the front.  Inside is the info card and all the goodies that fill this box.

20180622_181730

The info card tells you what you can expect to have inside your box each month.

20180622_181947

Sterling Silver Bracelet-$50.99

This bracelet is stunning!  I love it!  It did take me a few minutes to get it on as it’s tight to open but it fits me well and looks great on my wrist.  This is one of my favourite pieces of jewellery that I’ve ever received in a box.  iBeauty for the win on this one.

20180622_182010

Global Beauty Care Collagen Spa Treatment Mask-$4.99

There are two masks in this package.  These ones contain anti-ageing serum to fight wrinkles and fine lines.  I’ve been off my normal mask a week pattern for a few weeks so these will be good to help me get back into it.

20180622_181901

Covergirl ShineBlast Lip Gloss-$6.99

This gloss is great.  I know some people will be unhappy to get a Covergirl product in a box but I’m okay with it and like the gold shimmer that I received.  It also has a nice scent to it and isn’t sticky on my lips.

20180622_182042

e.l.f Eyebrow Stencil Kit-$4.99

This is an item I probably won’t use.  I ten to leave my eyebrows alone besides a quick filling with a pencil.  I would not make those shapes anyways, they are too dramatic for plain old me.

20180622_181930

Fringe Key Chain-$6.99

This is a fun little item.  I enjoy having things on my purse so this will join in.

20180622_181740

Essie Nail Laquer in Starry Starry Night-$9.99

This is a very dark blue polish.  The sparkles are not a pronounced as you would think.  This is a polish I like but I’m not sure that it’s all that summery.  Essie is a brand I am happy to get any time, even though I would rather not get all that many nail polishes.

20180622_182119

We have four samples included this month. Mary Kay eyeshadow, Hourglass Cosmetics Veil Mineral Primer, Keranique Hair Mask, and Briogeo Hair mask.

This month is back to what I was hoping to get when I signed up for this box.  There is a great mix of beauty products and I think I’ve finally figured out that each month I’m going to get a piece of jewellery and something else that is not specifically beauty related.  The value this month is $84.94 which is a good value for what I paid.  If you want to check out iBeauty Box or any other boxes on CrateJoy click here and start your search.

Scently Box June 2016

Scently Box is a monthly subscription box that sends out items that help you to relax and unwind.  They offer three sizes of box, Mini, Mod, and Ultra and you can also choose to have them delivered once a month or every three months.  Boxes start at $22.99 a month but go down with longer plans.  There is a $15.00 shipping fee to Canada as well.  Boxes include items made with natural ingredients, handcrafted items, bath and body items, and samples.  I was hoping for something different from what I’ve received before so let’s see what we find in the box!

This box came carefully wrapped in a bubble mailer and it was heavy!  Once I opened it up I could see that it was fully packed and there seemed to be lots of goodies in there.  I wasn’t sure exactly what kind of items this box would provide and after the first look, I still wasn’t completely sure.  They also don’t have an info card so I will be guessing on some of the items.

20180615_203819

This is a nice big bag of bath salts.  This is in a Fig scent and I’m happy with this to start off my experience with them.  Bath soaks are useful and indulgent so this is a welcome product.

20180615_203901

This candle has no scent listed on it but it smells nice.  It’s in a glass holder and probably has a 20 or so hour burn time.  I like that they have started off with a relaxing bath theme here 🙂

20180615_203707

These are “Fruit Spell” Travel Soaps.  They are made with coconut and palm oil and smell nice.  I like that they included different colours and that they are shaped and not just plain old square soaps.

20180615_203738

This little vial is an Egyptian Sandalwood Body Oil.  I was concerned this scent would be crazy strong but it’s beautiful!  The vial is a tiny roller ball so I can use this as a perfume as well.  I’m super happy with this item.

20180615_203758

The last item in the box is this Handmade Body Soap in Black.  Again I can’t tell what smell this is and Black is not all that helpful as a descriptor.  I’m sure it will be fine soap though.

For my first Scently Box I am very happy.  The products are nice, the sizes are great, and the scents are fantastic.  I got a mix of bath items and all of them do put me into a relaxed state of mind.  I can only hope that the next few boxes I get from them are equally great.  If you want to find this box you can go to CrateJoy and order it up!

Red logoed box packed with all the goodies and squiggles packed in.

20180615_204014

The info card is just one side this month but has the same info as before with the items and prices plus their social media links.

20180615_204047

Note Cosmetics Mattemoist Lip Gloss in Mat Nude-$10.00

This is a perfect nude colour!  It’s one of those lipstick type glosses but I managed to not make a mess with applying it. It is not dry like most matte lip glosses and smells good too.

20180615_204305

Elemental Promise Hibiscus Briarberry Lip Balm-$7.00

This is a very nice lip balm.  It smells fairly good and is soft enough to get on your finger and out of the tub easily.  It’s also nice to not get just another tube of lip balm.

20180615_204125

Sorme Cosmetics Tasty Tube in Mystery-$15.00

This gloss is SO sparkly!!!! I love it!  It has almost no colour on my lips but the full level of shimmer comes out.  It also smells amazing, which I expect from something called a Tasty Tube.

20180615_204235

Be A Bombshell Lip Crayon in What The Future-$7.00

This lipstick is very pink and surprisingly not horrible on me.  I haven’t received any of this brand of products in a long time and it’s nice to get more. I like this though and it will be worn as a fun summer colour.

Romantic Bear Wow! Lip Colour in Cherry Red-$?

This item was subbed in for my box.  It was supposed to be another lip balm.  I’m trying to follow the directions on this but it’s made a huge mess.  It’s on my teeth and my lips and I don’t know that I can wait for the 10 minutes until it dries.  It comes out in a huge glob and it’s crazy.

I am very happy to have found this box.  I was a little concerned about getting a lip product only box as I have so much of it but the items in here are great and a good mix of things.  The value for this month is $42.00, a great value.  You can visit CrateJoy by clicking here and check out this box and many others.
